I just caught up today on the Arkadia story. I really love it and how it integrates so many familar parts of what we currently know as part of the Entropia Universe like Teleportation, FAPs, robots, Revive terminals.
Now as someone who has been playing for a very long time and is very familiar with the "Project Entropia" storyline everything is great. But I'm concerned for new players understand the things that i mentioned above. I feel like with what current storyline we have now players would still need to read the original storyline to understand that.

I think most of the stuff could be summed up in one Prologue story issue. Just quickly explaining where in time we are the mishap with the robots and the technology such as FAPs, Revive Terminals, and Teleportation that has developed by necessity during the robot war conflict

It is a great story. But I dont believe that the robot wars on Calypso have anything to do with Arkadia. Arkadia is developing it's own story line, and we the fleet will write the future. As far as the past, we get glimpses of the Arkadia past in each chapter that has been written. It also seems that we will be uncovering some of the past ourselves. As far as faps teleportation revive . I learned all those things on my own when I first started on Calypso many moons ago. But I believe that thier will be a new player area that will explain alot of that.

I have to agree ... I really love the storyline as it has progressed, and I think the writing team has taken the time to incorporate elements that speak of a past with a level of explanation, but ... what I also love, is what Dude mentioned as well ... that over time, I think we may be uncovering things ourselves.

Remember ... on Arkadia, there are archeological digs, ruined cities, and perhaps other environmental clues that will fill in the blanks as we evolve. There will be storytellers, and news reporters that may link bits and pieces of our history along the way, and this is something that is very exciting to me with regard to the new breed of Arkadians that will inhabit and develop the planet.

I don't think I've ever been more excited to log into our universe than I am now ... but I will expand on that as we get closer to launch and what my plans are. :)

Just to echo what the others said, I didn't read anywhere in the Arkadia story that it had anything to do with Calypso or it's history. Arkadia is it's own unique planet, with it's own unique history and future, and any new players who want to get into the role playing part of it have a juicy read already waiting. The basics will be covered in the new player area, and that combined with the universe wide starter zone means players arriving on Arkadia will be able to hit the ground running more than ever before.

I know the team have gotten a little quieter lately, but that to me is good news, it means they have noses to the grindstones for the upcoming launch, fingers crossed it will be soon and smoother than a baby's bottom :)

:p That's what I was thinking too! Less talk here maybe means they are trying to finish for their deadline? :D We'll see!

    From 1.1: Toán's Exile http://www.arkadiaforum.com/content.php?126-1.1-To%E1n-s-Exile
So the story line DOES include the robot conflict

I'm not saying to include Calypso's story just go from Earth's side where Arkadia starts from. Explain space travel the ability to teleport revive and that FAP stands for First Aid Pack. Stuff that a complete new person that has no clue as to the game at all would need to understand. And i would think that most would read the story while downloading or to get that very knowlege of how things became after starting to play much like I did when i first started playing and read the whole backstory on Calypso so that i understood how we revived and how the technology actually worked.

I do like the idea of a brief explanation of the equipment and technologies that exist and maybe a bit about how we got to the point of interstellar travel, teleportation, and revivals.

I don't see where anything from Calypso's or any other planet's history should be incorporated since Arkadia is it's own entity. If there is any relationship between the battle against robots that's mentioned and Calypso then that could be brought out in future events, but I see no need to go into anything like that for new people.

Wow... I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really psyched about planting my virtual feet on Arkadia.

Do we really need too sources of robot menace in one universe? Two different sources of teleportation and revival technology? It is far better that the prehistory of Calypso also be a valid (canon) in Arkadia. At least for me, being at least somewhat coherent with Calypso is an important attraction in Arkadia.

For me there is no need to be anything like or be related with calypso. There are loads of different planets that have nothing to do with each other, and the diversity will increase even more over time. There is no EU-storyline, why would you want keep close to another planet that isn't too good at storylines.

Oh and to the OP, I don't think it is needed. When i was a kid i watched star trek, they teleported people and i never knew how it exactly worked and i was totally fine with it too. Don't know how healing potions in other games work, they just do and i like that they do.

Hi Rex, I'm currently working on the new website. There will be write-ups for the terminologies unique to Entropia Universe present on the new site. I hope this addresses your concern.

That sounds like a great way to handle it. :) Any clue when the new site will go live?

    Hey Calin,

I'm working vigorously on it at the moment. It should be up in the next few weeks.
To give you an idea, the new Arkadia Forum skin is based off the new website.

So that's where you've been :) I agree with Calin, that's a great way to offer some intro info to newcomers on 'terminologies unique to Entropia Universe'. I remember scouring forums and websites for info on many games to discover what the terminology long time players used actually meant, like what the hell is a tt (which is now also an abbreviation used on NI for time travel). I was kind of hoping Arkadia would lose the term 'fap' as the common slang defination/usage of that word is one that has always been a little embarrassing when helping tutor noobies, and is in no way unique to Entropia lol. I see the new Gyro medical kit will be called a first aid pack though (as opposed to the fast aid pack), so the terminology will carry on .

I think the back story is necessary to give history to the people we read about now on Arkadia... No reason at all it MUST be tied to Calypso tho. Simply put the robot invasions came as they explored new galaxies from the original Entropia story. These bots could be established in this sector /galaxy .... whatever term should be used and have zero ties to planet Calypso and their bot invasions and on going problems. For all we know the battle that To'an thought about could have been the one that eraadicated the robot threat in this sector while the expedition to Arkadia was set in motion.

There could easily be no robots at all on Arkadia. (Personally I think MA will simply reskin the robots in Oratan hide for ease of programming / lazyness) Either way it gets written bots or no bots I am eager for a change of pace and escape from the same old go to area x drop 25 bombs.. die 6 times.. Go to area b drop 25 bombs die 10 times...

I want new landscapes I want new places to explore (in peace) and to simply play the game the way I enjoy not forced to do things I have no desire to do (have to kill 30 mobs to mine the next 50m.)
