One Day ... I became quite aware of how excited I get, especially about life and what's important to me, but sometimes, also about those things that we just don't spend enough time thinking about. We get so caught up in "stuff" and move so obliviously through life that we miss out on appreciating the simple things. The following is a poem I wrote after a solo walk on the beach in the Gulf of Mexico, and it invited moments of reflection. The second part responds to the first part. =========================== WHAT IS IT What is it about dawn and dusk that drives us, lures us into poetic flow like lava rising from the depths of encumbered darkness to embrace the light; What is it about rain and kisses that liquefy a thought into a smile that tastes like a warm shower feels; What is it about breakfast that feeds an aching need yet to be fully satisfied; and What is it about life that keeps us at the edge, only to admire horizons and fall into dreams that leave with the tide. I KNOW WHAT IT IS It's the warmth of the sunrise embracing our face in a hug; It's the fusion of colors dancing to silent music at sunset; It's the food of life that rain delivers to its waiting takers, transforming liquid kisses from the outside into smiles on the inside; It's the most important meal of the day because delicious thoughts linger in our memory like a haunting love song; and It's the uncertainty and mystery of life that keeps us at the edge, where peaks and valleys challenge our will to step beyond our limited thinking, and do more than just admire horizons. =========================== I often get these moments of reflection in our virtual world as well, where I feel we get so caught up in the mechanics at times and perhaps neglect to appreciate the simple things. Perspectives are certainly a subjective process, and why I thoroughly enjoy what this community offers in its posting. It matters not whether I agree or disagree, but rather that I am a part of the whole, and have the opportunity to share. Writing is my greatest passion, and I often get lost in it, but it's also cathartic for me in many ways. I'm working on projects IRL, and of course I'm part of the EP Media Team, which I love very much, but I'm incredibly excited about the upcoming adventure and media work I'll be doing with Arkadia. I will share more of this as we get closer to the launch. In the meantime, if you have a personal poem that you favor, please share it with us.
the poem dosent show because of font /back ground color for some people if the hightlight the empty areas it will then show
I'm not quite sure what you mean Hon, could you be more specific? I changed the purple text to black bold, maybe that will help? I copied it from a Word document, so there shouldn't be a problem, I'll try to do it over then.
Miss MS9, What Calemus is trying to say is, if you are using the Arkadia skin like I am, the black and dark gray text does not show up on the black back ground. But if you highlight it, it will show up just fine. At least that is how it is for me since I use that skin as well.
Got it ... I changed the skin to the Arkadia one and I see exactly what you mean ... I'll fix it. Thanks!
