    Backstory and communication.

It remains to be seen how well they can bring that story to life through gameplay. Game play wont be any different, but if they can bring the story to life and keep people involved....that goes a long way.

Communication is also a huge deal. I continue to be impressed with the way they are handling things so far. Hopefully they will continue into the future.

We don't have the game play to judge yet, but what ive seen so far from the arkadia team is quite professional. Its what i would expect of a game company. Not like the BS one gets from all the other planet partners so far.

The thing that interests me most about Arkadia is the contrast between it and...well, you know what I mean.

I'm saving the storyline for a day before I enter game, haven't read any of it yet but I hear it's very good.

As said above, there will be bugs. I believe current players coming to Arkadia will be a lot more tolerant than in the past though since the team here is as Atraie says 'quite professional' and what we expect from a game company.

I'm getting a little bit excited to try to relive some of the old magic. :)

First of all, it was the concept and storyline that catched my eyes... After starting reading this forum and the newsletter, I admit I was pleasently impressed by the professionalism and level of communication I have seen, so that made me keep attentive to its development.

On the top of the cake, add some excellent concept art, some good looking gear presentation and a continuous feel of professionalism, and I'm already saving to pack my bags and travel to Arkadia... Fingers crossed for some fresh and pure air in there...

EDIT: On a final note, i think the effort to not only attract current players but also new ones, with clear marketing strategies, gives me some new hope about the future of this universe... Again, fingers crossed!

Arkadia dev team acts like a real company. This is a big difference to what we have seen by MA in the past years. ND Studios is even more noobish than usual game modding teams out there, so not worth to talk about them at all.

I personally strongly believe in the concept of Entropia, until now all we need is a professional game company.

And I have the feeling, Arkadia is what we all waited for in the last 5 years... so it's not a particular thing, to me it's just the way, the dev team acts.

Dedicated Dev's, good storyline, exploring the new world and getting the Sci-Fi aspect finally back to this game... and I hope Neverdie will never ever have anything to do with Arkadia... ever! ;)

+ what's been said of ingame economy on Arkadia. I started this new ava of mine as a miner and if I can sell on Arkadia what I find while mining/hunting there, will also keep me there. No need to set my foot on any other planets ever again... I hope.

I liked the dark gloomy Sci-Fi atmosphere PE had when I first logged in during VU7.4 and if I get any of that feeling back while exploring Arkadia... yeah.. that's pretty much what I'm waiting for.

Story, story, story, devs communication, story, dev's communication, story, story, story, dev's communication, dev's communication oh and not to forget developer's communication and of course the excellent serialised storyline.

Did I miss anything? Ah heck I think I forgot to mention the awesome back story!

    ;)

I also like the story, specifically want to learn more about the ancient Arkadians and their single most-prized Treasure.

PS: also curious to know what the independent faction under the Blade Mistress are actually out there doing :D

This is exactly the reason! My online virtual adventures started with PE way back when sweat farms were still there :D. The game was just fascinating, a huge planet to explore, wonderful music, the game was at the same time rough and beautiful, simple yet complicated, the focus wasn't just on the graphics or eye-candy look. I know we have evolved since 2003, but leaving gameplay aside for the sake of look isn't what would keep us mature(hell, ppl playing EU have kids, family and jobs!) players in(-terrested, -volved) :)
I want something challenging, that brings something new, with discoveries to be made, not only by spending hours grinding (I know skill system won't change). I want a strong sci-fi theme with a DIFFERENCE between real life and the virtual reality. An alien planet with 2 alien species (besides other animals) is what brings me here. My backpack is ready, as well as my Reilly boots. I'm no uber, barely a noob with little gear and a thirst of adventure.

I would also add storyline and dev team communication! oh, wait.... :D

That swordslady is mysterious, she reminds me of Olivier Mira Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist. Cold, strong, and an incredible leader and swordslady, respected above all by her men.
Here's a pic of that FMA character:
