I just noticed that now and was wondering when it was implemented. Then I found an update in this thread using it. Woohoo looks like it's working nicely already
Threads and Forums will now show who is browsing them at the bottom - this can cause some load on the server, so if it starts getting laggy I may have to turn it off, but let's hope it's not too bad
Your user control panel now shows how many reputation points you received from someone along with their comment.
We've renamed the "General Discussion" forum in the New Player Area to "New Player Discussions" to help stop the mis-posting of threads meant for the main General Discussion forum.
The gratz system has changed - you now won't see the gratz in the post area (the area that shows your avatar, rep power etc). You can see this on your profile page. Further to this change, each time you are 'Gratzed' you will receive some reputation. We are currently developing a new skin that will replace the default Arkadia skin. This will have the same tweaks as you currently see, but is nicer on the eyes so it doesn't feel like your cornea is getting seared with a blow torch... lol We will also have this skin available in different sizes, so for those people who prefer it to fit the whole width of the screen, you'll love this. After the initial skin is released we will begin developing a replacement for Arkadian Skies and Arkadian debris, with all the fruit and sizing options of course. The intent is to have two styles of skins - it's easier for us to maintain just two, particularly when vBulletin decides to throw in an update which destroys all the hard work and customisation we've had to do just to make things like the profile page look decent. More info to follow when we release the new skin.
Posts can now be "Liked" or "Thanked". Likes/Thanks will give 2 reputation points to the post author. Oh, for those people using the "Arkadia" skin, there is a visual issue with the Thanks/Like buttons. Seeing as that skin has been heavily customised, any updates on the vBulletin platform don't integrate properly, so that skin will eventually be removed as it's a maintenance nightmare. I advise you to use the Arkadia Dark series of skins instead.
Why cant you just rep the author of the post instead if you liked it, that's something i cant understand. Why not let facebook etc.. have their "likes" and skip that on good professional forums. And I dont like that extra space it creates between posts either, so hope this is a test in the "point" system and not here to stay
Nice... but it seems that I can add a TON of rep points... and it still gives me more and does not substract from them. Does this work as designed?
Thanks for the feedback. Rep option is still there of course. This is more for the lazy ones who just want to say thanks or show that they like a post. Also, the extra space is something I am not keen on, but the paid version of this mod will allow me to put the buttons whereever, and also allows me to create different types of buttons... so Like could be called something else, or removed entirely... I'm looking into the paid option, but it may not be worth it.
under the old rep system there was a limit to how much I could give out in a day. do thanks/likes work the same?
The old rep system is still the same. The thanks/likes don't allow you to define how much rep to give... it's a small 2 points for each like/thank.
I think he meant is there a limit to the number of times? For example the regular rep system requires you to +rep a few people in between giving a certain person rep.
