I just stumbled upon Kim|MindArks post about Treasure Hunting on entropiaforum.com: "From what I understand it will be activated on all planets at once. If the planet partners havent added their own "loot lists" their players will get some generic resources such as mosquitos in amber etc."
Was this the plan for a long time already? How could I miss that?

In the Arkadia announcement we can read: " Planet Arkadia will be part of Entropia Universe, where it will be the first virtual Treasure Hunting environment. "
Sooo did Arkadia give away its only unique selling point or did MindArk take it away? I am once again properly confused because MA and the A-team seem to contradict eachother in what they write? :dark:

From what I understand, MA provides the platform. If a planet partner wants a new feature on that platform they can present it to MA as something to develop and provide. Once MA obliges and provides that feature it becomes part of the platform which would be avaliable to everyone using the platform.

Maybe I am wrong, but this is how I understood the way it worked.
Even if there is 'treasure hunting' on other planets, I still think that Arkadia will have the advantage of it being tied in with story lines and better integrated into Arkadia's economy.

The tie into the economy is really what makes a feature viable or not, I think you can agree with me on that :p

Yes of course I agree with you on that. However there is a big difference between an unique feature and one which is just implemented better than on other planets. We all know that the A-team is good at doing parts of their job better than other PPs do. So far this is what sets Arkadia apart from the other Planets. However its easy for the other PPs to catch up on that if they get it right and to some point they already are. So to continue standing out from the increasing crowd Arkadia needs unique selling points. I thought Treasure Hunting would be the mayor one since this planet is called a treasure hunting planet unlike any other planet. However this doesn´t seem to be the case (anymore)?

I second narfi - all systems are made available to all planet partners, to implement as they choose. The one part of the statement that is interesting is that it will be active in its basic form on all planets. This seems to confirm that it is another type of mining - which has been pretty obvious since the mining tool overhaul - that will work anywhere mining is permitted.

The important point is that it is up to planet partners to build an extended loot table of planet specific treasures, which is what will make treasure hunting - on Arkadia at least - much more than just mining. Arkadia, with it's vision of being a treasure hunting planet, should have an extensive loot table along with uses for those items that ties into their story and development plans, and which gives those items some extra meaning and value.

It may be the case the treasure hunting on other planets will nothing be more than search for TT food, but do not be surprised if the basic, system-wide treasures are used in some new, basic blueprints in order to create a certain amount of markup potential within the base system. Also, do not be surprised if other planets have extended loot tables of their own right from the start - perhaps used in ways quite different from Arkadia. I can't wait to see how it all works.

*As always, predictions of future events tend to be faulty - and my track record is only fair, at best, with plenty of glaring failures.

    Cheers!

    Miles

A generic form of Treasure Hunting will be available Universe wide. On Arkadia the Treasure hunting becomes more important as it ties directly into the reason for being there. On Arkadia, we know the ancient Arkadians fought the Oratan, so logically there is some reason to find Arkadian loot when Treasure hunting.
With the system being developed for all planets, it means the skills gained while Treasure hunting on Arkadia can be more widely used if you choose to visit other planets.

    Hi, Dave.

Can you say if old beacon system is related to this new generic treasure hunting and they will work again? If you cannot say, is useful answer as "I know the answer but cannot say at the moment".

    Greetings. :-D

Beacons are not related to Treasure Hunting, they are a separate system (instances) which I hope to see implemented soon. That isn't to say when beacons are returned that the method to find them won't include Treasure Hunting - I just don't have any info on that as it isn't really Arkadia related.

Well fair enough maybe the strong ties to the amazing storyline can help make it an unique feature for Arkadia. Then again right now story telling elements are [almost] non existent on Arkadia so that will be tough to establish. ^^ Nevertheless I wish you best of luck with it.

Well if Ark can have just 1 story line going that always gets a revamp with each new chapter rather than trying to do several at once. Orb's, Robot Wars, The Egg. Then doing a story line wouldbe much easier.

Really hope that the treasure hunting will be able to do this. As it is tied in with mining then it should be able to stay on going

Thanks Dave. For a long while I misunderstood that treasure hunting and the 'underground' would all be tied in to the return of the 'instancing system' that was used for beacons. I see now that treasure hunting is a completely new system, and while other planets may decide to implement some use for it on their planets, they don't have to nor would it necessarily fit in with whatever their own planet is about. Arkadia is about treasure hunting and archaeology revolving around the ancient Arkadian culture, and is what makes it unique (well one thing that makes it unique) and I can't wait to see some more storyline missions from Sundari :)

Since it is said to be high stakes mining... probably no. :D
