Necro? Anyway I don't generally take hot drinks. Soft drinks / plain water usually, unless am on a 'liquid diet'(alcohol) in which case anything goes.
Yes it is indeed a necro....I'm still on a run of night shifts atm so I won't be addressing this properly till the weekend. However, just a heads up that we (the Mods and Admins) are getting a little fed up with the amount of necroing going on lately so we are looking at measures to auto close threads when they reach a certain age in order to stop this kind of thing going on... That said, it's generally spam accounts that are the culprits for pointless necro posts, though a fair number are also new members just going through the motions of upping their post count to circumvent the antispam measures in place until you have 6 posts. Very occasionally though, we get legitimate posts from members that have a valid point or reason to comment and that either haven't read the rules or have forgotten them. In such cases I would advise people via PM of the correct way to do things (to make a new thread and in the OP, reference the old thread as a means of supporting information) and of the Rule (3e). Repeated instances risk an Infraction and eventually a ban, but to their credit, noone has tested this system yet
Seems to me that certain threads (like this one), are better to necro instead of creating a new thread on the same topic. They don't address a time-sensitive issue but are there just for ongoing entertainment. We don't have a lot of examples here at PAF since the forum isn't as old but PCF has a lot of this kind of thread. The "ban the above user" and "newbies say the cutest things" come to mind.
That's a very good idea Neil, I'll look into making something on the weekend. The other way people can get their post count up is to use the greetings area and introduce themselves to the rest of the forum community, though obviously this is going to be more aimed at new players...
I drink far too much coffee, although I do make sure that the last cup is at least 3 hours before bedtime. Apologies to Frank Herbert: It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed. The hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
Nice reference to dune there mate. wonder how many caught that one. Edit: Gah tried to +rep you and got a data base error... if that didn't go thru let snape know to add the rep system to his list of things to look at.
It does go through, its the message coming back to you that has the error. I've got it on my list already
I was playing around with the settings earlier (you might find a test rep message or 2) and whilst I found a couple of settings I didn't know about previously, I haven't been able to isolate the issue causing the the error in the message. I'm guessing its deeper than I'm looking currently but I'm hard pressed to devote much time to it in one sitting atm. It'll get sorted one way or another eventually though.
Coffee Coffee, constantly... My stomach would probably like me to move to tea, water or anything else but hey! it's not its decision!!
Mountain Dew Amp these days, big fan of the Monster line of soft drinks. Coffee alone doesn't provide enough vitamins to cope with my hectic forum schedule.
Tea, water and sometimes orange juice or a fruit smoothy. But mostly tea, at 4-6 cups a day. Lady Grey is my favorite, though I've taken a liking to Darjeeling lately, after trying it for the first time. In the evening, I'll usually have mint tea. But between the 20 or so different types of teas I have -- between blacks, herbal/fruit, green, mint - I choose with my mood.
Coffee for the morning - tea for the afternoon and water for the evening, unless i dont have the kids and once a week it is cider (beer from apples if you dont know) Beware if coming across my Avatar if he is cidererd up - he will not be his normal self (sings Blackbird I'll 'ave he - only west West Country UK ppl will get that reference)
