    Hello,

Crafters will be angry at the start until the sweaters from calypso arrive and the scene runs full with supply and they can turn it or when the supply is not there.
Sweat has for a crafter's taste a not nice MU.

ME gets cheaper and Mindforcers/Vehicle repairers happy :)

Sweaters will longterm need to work alot more to get the same result as now.

If sweat gets to be used in gambling type crafting blueprints (high cost / click - item not needed on market) sweaters could maybe even sell for 10 ped per K or more. these crafters dont care there I agree ofc.

Not quite sure what the big deal would be for any amount of sweat in a furniture item...how about don't craft it until you find a buyer?

If you're just using it to find new BP drops...well then that's on you and you really have no reason to complain about the amount of sweat needed to craft a "luxury" item.

It's highly unlikely that you'll find buyers for all the clicks you're making to be the one to discover a new BP.

    Your choice.

As a crafter I don't have any problem with this. I don't really care what the ingrediants are for what I craft as long as I can obtain the ingrediants at a price that makes the end product sellable. You quickly get to a point where weapons are too uneco above a certain MU. That's why few people craft melee. So there is some risk that weapons or tools that require sweat would not be worth crafting but as long as we have a mix of gear that doesnt require sweat we can let the market sort that out.

In general I think adding sweat to some bps is a good thing. Let's have a actual market for sweat so that sweaters can sell for a price that reflects its actual value to the economy and then they can stop relying on the charity of their friends or society.

The only change I would like to see is that sweat be sellable in auction.

I'm not complaining no one buys my item, I'm not even a crafter. but whatever I already expressed enough of my opinion on this issue so I'm not gonna write anything more, I think this thread is pretty good so far, Arkadia team got both side's opinion from this thread to help them making future decision about this issue.
    Peace :)

Thanks you Kikki, it is very good to hear some real arkadia crafters' opinion on this issue, hope more crafters can express their opinion, and you get a really good point, not every crafters want to shout in quarry for sweats, but if sweats become auctionable then the price gonna crash a big time because every sweaters just want to get rid of their sweats quickly so everyone would just undercut each other on auction.:)

    Hi,

    very interesting!

I always advocated more uses for Sweat, and I appreciate it that there's now BP's that actually use it. Even if I'm not sure if adding loads of Sweat to a furniture item will do the job, and will create enough demand to assure a sufficient price of Sweat over longer time.

My idea has always been that Sweat should be used to "guide" the new players into the EU economy. Means, BP's using Sweat should be TT BP's, should require 0 skills, and only few to none of the most common and cheap other ingredients.

Example: MindEssence. It uses Sweat and Force Nexus, an abundant and easy to mine EnMat. It's made with the refiner, this is what I don't like - it should be made with a BP, in the crafting machine!
This way it would be a perfect product close to any new player could create, and given a certain demand, could sell without major hassle. (Current use of ME is much too low, for sure)

In my book newbies shouldn't sell Sweat to the seasoned players, Sweat should be the base of kind of a mini-economy for them. With very low stakes, very low (PED) values, and low possible profit.
With a profit that would add some fractions of a PEC to a given amount of Sweat, enough to make it possible that with a day of concentrated sweating our newbie could afford a nice hunt of the punys, maybe? Or some bombs?

Neil had some very nice ideas a few posts ago, and spoke words of truth and wisdom (as usually):
But I'd do it a bit different. Maybe this way:

    1. Sweat can be crafted (100:1 ratio?) into Sweat Residue. No other ingredients. Sweat residue doesn't do anything but rising the effective QL of a crafted BP a bit. You badly want to try to craft this nifty tool, but your skill isn't high enough? Add some serious Sweat Residue to improve your chance of success!
      .
    2. Ammo. Better ammo! AdjAmmo! ModAmmo! Craft some Sweat with some [common newbie enmat/ ore] and some basic ammo, get Adjusted (or Modified) Weapon cells! With slightly better dam.
      .
    3. Newbie gear. Basic weapons, Finders, etc. Stats between the current Rookie items and the TT equivalents, cheap and easy to make. Nobody would use them for long, but they could be "the bridge" until the decision to deposit has grown ripe.
      .
    4. Some basic components used in many low level BPs. Sweat and [common newbie enmat/ ore], to craft nuts, bolts and glue. Components that are used in L1 BP's only. Maybe these could be "crafted up" to more serious components?

Basic idea is to take the Sweat out of the common economy mostly, and to ensure that every new player would have a cheap and easy access to the crafting profession, too. And to the economy.
At the moment, crafting is basically closed to any new player, much too high stakes even for the simplest of BP's.
And, if we are honest, trading Sweat isn't this much of an option, too, given the current prices?

But we need new players, urgently. We need them to come, this can be done by advertisement. But then we need them to stay for a while until they realized the beauty of the game!
And this can only be done if we keep them busy, if we offer ways to participate in the game, even for those that are not sure yet to stay, or to deposit. We need to keep them to showcase the game, to give them an idea, and to make them deposit finally.

Sweating for close to zero returns isn't a viable way. We see new players coming in, checking out the possibilities, and leaving ... While it's so obvious, as Danton says:
What we need is a better experience for the players that survived the "new player experience", and Sweat might be the key to get such!

    Have a good time!

Great post, Xandra. It would be great if new players had a cheaper way to craft something useful.

I love the idea that sweat has a new use, and I think this will bring more sweaters to Arkadia. And more sweaters = more activity on the planet, and every little bit helps... plus, as said before: a lot sweaters hunt, so this also brings more activity to the planet.

So overall, I like the approach too.

But 10k for one click is a little much too... I tried to bring Kitten sweat from Calypso... it took my trader more than two hours to collect 200k of sweat... at a price of 2.5 PEDs/k. This is above MU and still it's hard to find enough for a decent crafting run.

Now it seems no-one wants to sell below 3 PEDs/k... so I rellay suggest to have 1-2k/click, this is enough that sweaters can sell easy, but also crafters can make 5-10 more items with same amount of sweat.

Yeah thank you bunch I thought that big pile of sweat would last longer than it did but a few failures without partial return of sweat stack sucks that up fast and 10k a click thats 25 - 30 ped just in markup alone a click gone o_O

kind of gives a MINIMUM markup that any item which uses sweat in it can go down too as well

I bought about 100 ped of sweat yesterday for crafting. I wish this was around when I was a sweater. I could have advanced in game much faster. For the time being I don't have any problem with the high amounts needed.

Well me and a buddy sweat on ark and have at least currently about 25k between us happy to sell at 2.5.

Also I think the one thing that sweat would be great for newbie crafting is getting ark to come out with a really really cheap decoy launcher(like .001 PED per shot) and a decoy BP that uses a decoy pack from the TT which has "1000" empty decoys(cost 10 PEC) and then you use a BP to add 1k in sweat and create between 500-1000 decoy ammo. Ammo cost on the launcher would of course be 1 shot per 1 "ammo".

No one currently uses the decoys because they are completely worthless for pretty much everyone. Add in they are insanely costly so the one group(aka noobs) that may consider using them can't.

Be nice if they added some pvp decoys and stuff in... though ark isn't much for pvp.

Very nice discussion... I would say that it's no problem to include sweat into bp requirements... It's up to you to decide if you want to craft the stuff or not... If you don't like to get the sweat yourself, or you don't want to buy it from others... You can always let others use the bp to craft, and buy the furniture from them.
I don't intend to get a war started over this statement... but I can understand that for new players the game is more interesting if the price of sweat is not going to be a few pec per 1K of sweat... If you need to do days of sweating to get 1 ped... then the newbie will not even try I guess, if after a day of sweating he can buy him/her self a basic weapon or mining gear and try some other stuff ingame... That would be good news.
That ... or the newbies need to be able to do a lot more on the arrival part of the game, so they are willing to deposit because they understand more of this game.

I can agree with OP, the markup of sweat sales does make the end product from blueprints skyrocket beyond sell ability just to have a decorative item in an apartment that gets seen rarely. Smaller amounts in BP are great idea however. I'd rather see sweat required to activate wave events or the like or required to spawn the end boss in a wave event or something more like the hussk spawn. And make the mob boss compensate a bit for the higher price or requiring that sweat. But hey they is me just thinking here. I myself am a person that only buys low priced decorative items as it really doesn't effect my game play much. Still looking for a low priced couch or nice lounging chair and bed to add to my apartment but ugg all I can find is wicker funiture that is affordable. So my apartment sits without much to sit on :(
