Thank you. I only asked because my hover pod was limited. What do I do if it gets damaged or breaks altogether?
Vehicles are special L items. They have TT value and they also have SI or structural integrity. SI damage can be repaired using an RK-5 repair tool and welding wire. TT damage cannot be repaired.
Let's try to keep this thread on topic iGriff1n. If you have more questions feel free to create a thread in the appropriate section so we can answer them easily and without confusion of the thread topic That being said, here's another short tip for newcomers related to the posts above: Unlimited items can be repaired at repair terminals. Limited (L) items cannot be repaired once broken. EDIT: I guess vehicles are a bit tricky to fit into this rule though.
Don't accept ninja society invites and disciple requests. Ask a potential society or mentor questions to see if they are right for you, and don't be afraid to "shop" around.
Don't be afraid to "die"!!! (you will lose nothing when you die, unless you are in space or in lootable pvp zone) With best regards OLD NICK
Can't find a land area or event area? Open your event list menu. From there is a list of land areas. You can press the compass icon (view map location) to find the location you are looking for.
definitely do the new player mission on Arkadia even if you are not a new player, it is a great introduction to the planet and you get some nice freebies, remember to finish the whole thing as there is a nice mining exercise at the end.
Auction House fees are not as high as all of the references I have found in old guides; they are significantly lower. Old calculations had 100PED offer on auction house costing around 5.26ped total, and dropping to a bit over 3% when it was a 1000PED offer. Auctions still cost 0.5ped to set up, but instead of starting at 5% of cost and descending it appears to start lower (depends on the item, so I've read). The percentage charged seems to be based on the amount that is the MU over 100%, not the TT value. Example: If you are selling 50 PED of of ingots, if you list it for 50PED on auction you'll just have your 0.5PED auction fee. For every % you raise it above MU you are charged for those percentages, but it seems to be much lower than starting at 5%...maybe around 1.5% or so? Very good news to this newbie miner; for instance, selling 100 PED of Lyst at 108 actually yields you 106%MU or a bit more instead of the ~102.5% like I was thinking, based on old calculations. Every pec counts.
Don't be afraid to die as long as you are not in a limited Armour that decays each time you try to kill the mob. For example I lost my Hoverpod on a welcoming quest on 8C Island where I was sent by the quest to mine for ore, and the damn high lvl mobs trashed my pod and killed me. I barely used that pod. Luckily I managed to recover the racked ship and extract the oil at least.
Just to add: since last December this has changed. A quote from the Planet Arkadia Update 2014.4.: For the Arkadian born avatars the recommendation still stands of course. And after that, start with the IFN Recruitment at 8 Coins Windy Isle.
I would start by reading this forum thread. This is where the whole IFN recruitment drive is talked about... Gl Recruit! http://arkadiaforum.com/threads/ifn-needs-you.11501/ IFN Private Joe Brazil, at your service!
Not sure if it has changed but the formula for calculating auction fees is: 0.5 + (MU * 99.5) / (1990 + MU), where the MU is in PED Using your example of selling 100 PED of Lyst at 108 %, this would generate an auction fee of 0.5 + (8.00 * 99.5)/(1990 + 8.00) = 0.90 PED. TT is irrelevant and if you do the calculations you will see that you can't pay a fee over 100 PED.
Can you explain what the numbers stand for? I take it 0.5 is the base auction fee, but what of the others (99.5 & 1990)?
Use the "Create Set : Armor" tool. It lets you equip a whole armor set with one mouse click, and unequip it after r-clicking the icon. A good rule of thumb for the auction fee is 50 pec + 5% of MU. The more detailed formula that fredzepp gave is used internally to gradually reduce the percentage MU charged until it maxes out at 100 PED fee. They don't really 'stand' for anything specifically unless you want to move things around to define the slope of the change.
TIP : Your mentor knows best! Elaborating : If you have chosen a mentor to help you, he or she generally knows a lot about the game already. Make sure to ask a lot of questions. If a mentor seems to be annoyed by your salvo of questions, find another one. Information is key in this game. If you are unsure about the answers your mentor is giving, it does not hurt to get a 'second opinion' from other players in rookie channel or #arkchat.
Following on from Lizzy, try and find a mentor in your time zone or at least one who plays at the same times you do.
I relation to this: Try hunting in 3rd person. You can watch the ground while hunting for any foraging finds. These as were mentioned can only be found if you are at walking speed. This includes if you are shooting a mob walk backwards and watch the ground for possible finds.
