Mainly the finder.. was nice for newer or poorer guys to skill or play with the rookie finder/lower probe usage for mining.. I can't find any.

Is a similar tool in the making or will there just be no rookie stuff on the TT?

    Cheers

That's EXACTLY what I was afraid of

I tried to find it out before launch here and got zero information

Now guess what? NO rookie finder on TT, so instead of spending 1/2/3 probes, I'm supposed to drop TEN times more

    Nice...

P.S.: I don't know why no one is paying attention to it, but mining on Calypso is now TEN TIMES cheaper for newcomers, I think it makes a lot of difference

I can't get my hands on any Calypso Rookie Finder atm, but does anyone know/remember, was the Treasure-option open for rookie-finders also? And yes, would be nice to have some Arkadian rookie mining-gear available, at least on those Academy camps.

Yes, the rookie finder on Calypso also had a cost for treasure hunting shown. It was 3 probes.

I brought some with me when I moved to Arkadia, about 100 of them, will probably give them away to newbies or as part of trading promos, that in case tomorrow's patch won't include rookie tools. :D

That's very kind of you :)
    Not a permanent solution though.

Maybe David or anyone could answer whether they have thought about this?

Hopefully they thought about this, as right now IMO Calypso has an unfair advantage in regards to newbie friendliness :( Of course, nothing compares to dedicated, experienced players helping people out, but rookie gear was probably one of the best things for those starting out, when you can experience a full mining or hunting run for a small fraction of the regular costs.

Ok this has to be a mistake or something with the new Rookie TerraMaster Finder. New player I know wanted to tier their rookie and figured I'd help them with their first tiering attempt and WOW that Rookie Finder is a super expensive thing to tier up for a newbie IMHO.

    931 - Animal Muscle Oil
    133 - Simple I Conductors
    266 - Piles of Garnets
    532 - Blazar Fragments
    252 - Tier I Components

That's 132.93 PED TT Value of materials a newbie needs to Tier it to Tier I, to just get be able to get a few meager meters deeper or few meters range to use an enhancer. This has to be a mistake I am thinking, it seems really ridiculous.

Holy necro Batman! I suggest if you think something is wrong with the tiering recipe to throw a report in the Bug section. It may get a bit more exposure there :)

    Cheers!

Tiering rates are calculated automatically. To understand why the rookie finder has such expensive tiering rates you just need to look at the efficiency. In essence, an item that is not overly efficient will be much cheaper to tier.

So why does the Opalo cost so much less to tier? It only costs like 2.02 PEC per use, but only costs about 3-3.5 PED to tier it up. 132 PED just seems a bit excessive for something that only costs 1 PED.

    Opalo decay: 0.0202 PEC
    Rookie Finder: 0.234 PEC

    Opalo ammo use: 2 PEC
Rookie Finder "ammo" use: 5-15 PEC

This one is easy to answer. Tier costs are calculated using the efficiency in relation to other items in the same class. Weapons efficiency is damage / PEC, while mining finders is more about depth / PEC.

Well if that is the case I'd never recommend a newbie to tier the rookie it is really not worth the PED, I'd rather suggest upgrading to a Demonic, Terra I or Z1 or better instead. Enhancers are expensive to buy and what you get from them is not worth no 132 PED for Tier I, I could see like Tier 4 or 5 costing that much as then you have 4 or 5 levels of enhancers working together and the cumulative effects are worth it. By tier 5 you would be paying 500-600 PED to get this thing tiered up, seems odd to me. It would be more economical to use a more expensive finder IMHO.

Actually I don't understand why would anyone tiering and putting enhancers on finders that below f-105 and f-106 and (L) finders that lower than Emine, when you can get better depth easily with other finders unless there are hidden effects on tier that I don't know and my mentor didn't told me.

Well for a newbie tiering is something new for them to play with. and as your saying it is not worth it especially at that cost. And you are right I usually never use enhancers with any of my finders I use.

I cant use those higher level finders effectively so I put put depth enhancers on the f-102 I have - perhaps depth makes a difference (I get mixed messages on that question).

Yes, depth does make a difference, but at that shallow depth, enhancers aren't going to make any significant difference in what you find.

    @ 100m, 1 enhancer adds 8 meters vs. @ 800m, 1 enhancer adds 60m

You'd need to add enough enhancers to get down to 2-300m to start seeing any difference in claims. At least, that's what I'd expect. And you'd have to take it tier 10 to see 200m. How much would that cost? Not worth tiering.

Regarding finders, it might be a little un-patriotic of me, but I frequently need to pry their hands off the F-10x that someone gave them for free and bring them up through the Ziplex Z_ line. The Ziplexes have the shortest SIB period of any finder, so they can get depth economically much sooner.

    Hi Chris,

I am currently trying to interprete this post correct.

Is the information related to tiers cost calculations only or a general thing on the efficiency of tools.

    Like a ruleset:
    weapons efficiency damage/pec
    mining finders depth/pec

    Thanks,

Another thing to think about for the rookie terramaster tier cost is that it uses 1/10th the probes, so going deeper would be unbalancing unless the tiering up cost so much.

I've globalled several times with my rookie terramaster - its a great feeling doing that for such little probe price :)
