I'm familiar with the history but am not sure it is relevant to the current situation. (I appreciate you were answering a question from another poster.) We can consider all ship operators to effectively have a letter of marque from MA. So what? The issue here is whether the identity of space pirates/privateers/pkers is to be protected as a matter of forum policy. I don't really see why pkers would mind, unless they think what they are doing is actually unethical. Regards, KikkiJikki
If you wish to enforce a more strict moderation fine. :surrender: But use fair rules to do it (update them if needed) Informing the community by naming somebody that did an allowed role play action should not be against the rules of this forum. As far as I know it isn't There is too much space for interpretation on what is a complain and what is a report of an event. As long as the poster remains civil and doesn't start bashing or other name calling then I see no problem in the release and sharing of information of valid game actions
The pirate can repent and go good in the future althought unless he does the following I say he still shouldn't be "trusted"
I totally agree with the no naming of scammers or people with personal disputes, but... MA has built the system to have the good guys and the bad guys. They set up the system for there to be pirates. I think that it should be allowed to name pirates and I'll take that a step farther... I think there should be a sub-forum which has the purpose of being the place to not only name the pirates, but to also discuss their tactics and methods. We should have a place where we can all work together to get around the pirates safely. I do think MA made a big mistake making all of space lootable PVP so I am for anything that weakens or ends the threat that the pirates pose to travelers.
If the original thread had been a pirate naming a looter because he wanted to give back 50% of loot then I bet the looters name wouldnt have been censored.
That's exactly the point of all this. In the thread we started to talk bout all that, there was no bad word about the named one. Only facts and experiences. So, according to existent rules, no reason to delete names Edit for mods: To prevent all flaming and bad naming, make a section where it is only allowed to post parts of original open chat screenies. No comments or additional text, only the screenie part. On that screenies you can only see "Vehicle destroyed..." and "xy was killed by xyz". We are all mature enough to make our own thougts about ppl that are showing up on that screenies again and again and again. Give that section a neutral name like "battle results", first post sticky with the posting rules of this section. With a solution like that we all can live I think, because you can only see what you can see ingame in open chat anyway.
I am totaly with you!! If you are going to be one..be proud and don't be a coward!!..I hate cowards!..besides if you are going to be everyone will pass this info on anyway!..
Update: We're just waiting on a of items to be finalised behind the scenes but we believe the outcome will be favourable to all. Stay tuned
if someone had come onthe forum and said Hi I'm "XXXXXX" and I looted $XX,XXX PED IN SPCAE OFF "YYYYYY" today, i don't think anyone would be talking about they shoudl remove XXXXXX name from his own post? What about the victim? Come on... This is legitimate gameplay. You would probably not stop a PK from bragging about his HoF in space, how can you see your way to stopping the victim talking about it? When i got looted for 60+ PED in PVP4 a few months ago, it was announced in chat as a global. It looks like a mod deleted some names out of habit (someone was being accused on a forum) and now that it's been pointed out this is going to be wrapped up quick, right? Maybe someone should review the PK HoF and bragging threads on other entropia forums? Most of the people who would do this would just just as proud of their uber HoF as any other hunter.
Wouldn't work because people have photoshopped pics in the past and they would do the same here. Without any guarantee of pics being faked it may as well just be a naming list...
Thanks Vantastic for the update. Mutant Atrax Stalker, the deletion is explained by the mods further up in this thread and was not done out of habit. To everyone, as the OP, I ask you to relax. Let the mods have their discussion and get back to us. I'm confident that they have the best interests of the forum at heart even when on those occasions when I dont agree with their decisions. Regards, KikkiJikki
Ok guys, here it is: Naming PvP Space Pirates After careful deliberation and much discussion between the PAF Mods/Admins and representatives of Arkadia Studios, it has been decided that from this point forth, to relax the rules on the naming of players in regards to PvP, specifically with regards to Space and pirating. The new ruling is that you may post the name of a pirate player as long as it is stated as a public advisory notice and not intended as a flaming of the person. What this means is that if your post is just a way to whine and moan and let off steam then you are forbidden from naming and flaming the person. However, if your post is something along the lines of "<Avatarname> killed and looted me in Space near XYZ. His ship is called <Shipname> and has negative karma. Please take care whilst travelling in this region" then it is perfectly ok. Please feel free to add any other helpful information, such as whether the person offers/agrees to give back a % of the loot. Screenshots are encouraged as well. We also encourage you to ask the person (if you get the chance) whether or not they mind you naming them here on the forum. Due to the new nature of this element of EU, we will be asking you, the forum community, to help us in actively policing these specific forums. This means that you guys will have the responsibility of reporting posts when you feel they are getting out of hand. After the mods have received 3 or more reports about a post, then we will act in accordance with the established forum rules regarding disputes (See Forums Rules - Rule 2b and 2d.). Further feedback is welcome. As an addition to this, Van and I have altered a section of the Forum to make it more suitable for this sort of thing. You'll find it under Planet Arkadia Professions -> PvP -> Space Pirates and Space Knights. I'll also be adding this to the Forum Rules for future reference. Thanks for your patience.
Just to add my own thanks to everyone here for bearing with us while we sorted out the new process and new forum, and thanks to the other 6 heads of this 7 headed beast that sorted it out, personally I think we rock
It sure does. We (as in the mods and admins etc) are here only to prevent people from abusing each other or the forums and to try and maintain peace and harmony. I'm glad the resolution sits well with you all
