    The fundamental problem with crafted weapons is their lower base eco. Why MA changed that I don't know.

    Having plentiful looted weapons with 0.2-0.5 or more greater damage per pec is asinine.

    This is a nice attempt but it will fall short.

    Attempting a quick ballpark estimate, skipping over markups, usable vs. total tt and other minor detail.

    As far as I can see, all Arctic upgrades take exactly 15% of the gun's tt.

    The share of decay in the total cost of a shot varies among different guns, mostly in the range of 6...20% (e.g. ASI-7 Arctic 0.370/5.820~=6.357%, ARK-36 Arctic 3.398/18.898~=17.981%); ARKs typically have higher share of decay.

    Adding a x1.15 multiplier to that means somewhere from 0.9...3.0% increase in total cost.

    Now, critical hits, on a maxed gun without any buffs account for roughly 3% of the total damage dealt (actually slightly less but we're going for a ballpark estimate).

    Getting 10% bonus on that means roughly 0.3% increase in total output.

    Where did I make a mistake, if any?

    edit: OK, a suitable amp can make it look slightly better - e.g. with CAP-7 Arctic+A103 the decay of the gun is 0.363/8.669~=4.187% of the total cost, so you'd get just over 0.6% increase in cost. Still not good if you ask me.

    Wouldn't it be wiser to buy an unlimited ring for increased crits and buy some boxes for skill pills?
    I don't see the point tbh, unless the eco of the weapons is also increased.

    Although it might matter in the future, it appears that beyond a certain point rank doesn't matter. I'm Warrant Officer 1st Class (IIRC, have finished VI) and the guns I can get are the same as those already listed for a Lieutenant.

    One presumes that at some point, some more options for larger bonuses might be available to higher ranks. Wait and see, I suppose.

    I am rather disappointed that the investment of a fairly large amount of treasure doesn't add to the TT of the weapon. It amounts to paying for greater skill gains, if you use the item yourself.

    I think whats also worth mentioning, secret camp enter fee was reduced, on stage X it asked for 7.10ped worth of arkoins before the VU, now - after ammo reward is removed and evade skill is added instead, it ask for 6ped worth of arkoins.

    Just an information, haven't seen it being mentioned earlier.

    I didn't run any numbers, was just a first impression and attempt at seeing the motivation. If this new option can make the range more competitive (cf. Calytrek etc), it sure is interesting. Proper valuation of average damage output with the buffs included is key, the results are not immediately obvious and knowledge has yet to trickle down. I'm sure the devs have considered all this, now it's up to the geeks to figure it out. :cat:

    Presumably the buffs are stackable with buffs from rings and so forth. Anyone tested this yet?

    Ares Ring Modified - Right Hand - 10% Faster Reload, 0.8% Increased Critical Hit Chance, 10% Increased Critical Damage
    this is the lowest ring that will give crit buffs equal to the mk 1 weapons, for the crit chance you will need to go to the next ring to be exactly even. So with the rarity/cost of those rings this makes these weapons a much cheaper way to get a higher buff assuming they don't stack. Also if used on the right mobs the eco difference between other options should not be as high and as they are crafted they are more likely to be widely available anytime vs hunting drops as loot tables are always subject to change.

    ring buffs stack with pill buffs so it would make sense that the effects add up
