    Hi Dev team

I know we usually have to wait for the population to reach a milestone, but the number of new shops, booths and apartments is growing and growing, yet to be sold.

    At this stage we have, yet to be auctioned;
    1. 4 Booths at the crafting deck in Celeste Harbour
    2. 8 Shops at Valiant Firebase
    3. 2 Booths at Celeste Quarry
    4. 14 Apartments at Valiant Firebase
    5. Second row of Apartments/shops at Sanctuary Cove
    6. Shops at Celeste island and Celeste North and South
    7. 12 new booths in the Arkadian Underground

Its now 26 new shopping booths waiting for owners and at least 18 shops.

I think that's all at the moment, but its a lot of empty real estate. When can we get our hands on some of it?

    Cheers
    Bjorn

Shame that mindark controls how much of that stuff arkadia is allowed to sell based on planet population. same thing happened to NI

There's actually three booths left on the crafting deck in Celeste Harbour. One was sold last year.

I've also been thinking about all the empty real estate lately. The population on Arkadia has noticeably grown since anything was last released (six months ago, or more?).

I'd like to see a televator up to the second level sanc cove shops... people are not going to want to run up the hill through mobs to get to the shops and apartments.

Don't expect every one of them to sell. On Calypso, there's some places that have been in game for many, many years that have never sold yet... it's partially a false supply/demand thing the planet partner/mindark can use to their advantage I think. Not sure exactly why a ghost town is something they like to see, but for some reason it seems to be something they end up cretaing over and over in this virtual universe. That's part of the reason why the estate terminals 'hide' the true deed holder and only show the guy/gal that last claimed the place... it's easier to obfuscate things to make it look like more estates have been sold than really have been, then drive prices up through false supply/demand and after that release the empty stuff in events, etc. as some big whoop te doo whop here we go, ain't the world great and filled with unicorns and rainbows since you just won this amazing 'prize' that just cost you a pedcard for nothing that someone else got a few months/years back for almost nothing.

    wtf mastermesh.

Let's leave Caly's issues out of it for now. Here on Ark, landscaping/design has been done and it makes sense to build the plan for shops and apartments into it instead of reworking it areas later. We know that MA control when more shops can be made available for sale and have been told it is tied to level of player activity. So my question is have Caly told the devs what the required level of activity is, and if so are we getting close to target so we can expect to see some of the shops on the market soonish?

My pov is that its good to have more shops operating because it really helps to make crafting viable and crafting is the main driver of the local economy.

Caly is well known to be having major issues with shops and booths. Just look at the entire top floor of Emerald Lakes Mall, all shops either never claimed or never sold. Then there is the Cape Corinth Booths, of which less than 10% in use, some never claimed and some never sold. At least the Ark team are selling these properly. Absolute idiots would spend 7-10000Ped on a shop these days and not use it or claim it.

But when's Ark getting it's first bank (not that I'm interested in using it)?

Why not put shops and apartments in the tunnels. Only the interiors need designing then and not the exterior, which tbh could just be a box with a door and no need to change the landscaping.

Banks IIRC cost a considerable sum to own plus require 1 million ped in float.

I very much doubt they will go down that road and I for one, certainly hope that they never do either. The banks are a joke and nothing more than glorified pawn shops.... And an eyesore too imo.

those banks would have been more great if mindark had gotten that bank licence real world and link it in somehow. I think their idea hit a wall

Hello all :) Migi back to Arkadia after a long break and visiting other places...
Wondering if the booths on Arkadia Underground have an ETA for sale (says unavailable atm) and if some of you guys have a clue on value ranges these things have been selling for in Ark.
Ty in advance for any help/replies.

Best of luck to all :)

I agree, remaking the server is a pain in the butt, BUT... on the other hand leaving entire towns empty is just plainly STUPID! They should do an inventory of all estates, and those that participants hold deeds to, leave as is. Those that don't have 'owners' yet - simply temporarily hit the delete key on the 3d model for the estate, leaving it empty. For some apartments where there's multiple floors, that probably would not work, but in cases like that, simply authorize the sell of all the stuff in that building and drop it all on auction TODAY or in a week... Get rid of the urban sprawl cluttering up the server... leave what's actually participant owned... as new stuff is authorized to go on the market, undelete the 3d model THE DAY it's on the auction, etc. GET RID OF THE GHOST TOWNS!

Speaking as someone who's owned a bunch of estates on Calypso in the past and wants to own some on Ark someday in the not-too-distant future I got to say the ghost town drives people away from the cities (well that that the neverending competition vs the shops by the auctioneers, lol)

I don't think there is an issue with ghost towns on Arkadia.

I think that Ark is doing the smart thing by releasing the booths and shops slowly. AFAIK, all the shops/booths that were sold on Ark so far have been claimed. (the might not be used atm, but they have been claim). While I haven't a clue as to what agreement Hawkwing has with Arkadia regarding the Sanctuary shops and flats, there is a possibility that Hawkwing already holds ALL the deeds for the shops and flats at Sanctuary Cove..... frankly, though, it's not my business.

What I do know, since some have mentioned unclaimed shops on Caly, is that ALL the shop deeds in Emerald Lakes Mall were given to the mall owner when he purchased it. It was the mall owner how made the decision to not sell or open any of the third floor shops. (I know, because I sent a support case to MA, asking if/when those shops would be sold. LOL) AFAIK, the Emerald mall owner hasn't been seen in years, neither in game, nor on forums. So, who knows what the future holds for that mall, and all the shops that remain unclaimed.

Do I think that releasing more booths/shops on Ark would be a good thing? Certainly! Frankly, it would give more variety and options for those who just like to shop around. Will I purchase a booth in the underground? Probably not because, while I craft, I don't craft weapons, armor or tools, or any of the accompanying items. (All bets are off, however, if craftable mindforce chips enter the game. LOL) Would I hope that more people besides current shop and booth owners purchase some of the UG booths? Again, certainly! And, again, I refer to the variety of options.

Sorry if I babbled on... it's late and I'm tired, but I wanted to share my opinion. :p

The answer to that is Hawkwing's post in this thread.

Deleting unowned structures isn't a great idea. I remember when I was buying my apartment on Caly I spent a long time looking around available choices for it's location i.e. distance from TP and where it's window looked out upon.

Not knowing where the location of a shop or booth is can drastically affect it's price. Imagine buying one and then finding out it's no where near a standard playing route or a tp.

Personally an apartment miles from the nearest tp would be nice, provided they didn't put in the middle of a spawn. But with the prices they're reaching there's no way I could afford one.

Going back to my time on Caly, the reason we headed back to town was to repair and re-arm but with the terminals available at almost every tp there's no real need. Everything a player could want is available from the auction terminal.

And if something is only available in a shop then someone will buy them all and then put them on auction.

You never really need to stray far from a tp. In fact I've spent the vast majority of my time at one firebase and other than spending a few minutes exploring Ark again after building my new pc I've not left it's server area.

I think part of the problem is the L stuff is readily available to most and in sizable quantities. The UL being finite in supply meant we had to look for it in shops as they rarely stayed on auction for long or the price was bid up too high.

We all knew someone who knew where to get a certain things, now it's just check the auction and if it's in short supply it's usually been replaced by something better.

Any enough of my ravings. There were lots of ghost towns in the old Caly it's just that those usually didn't have a tp and most didn't even know they existed.
