I haven't had any skill boosts yet but to me, the skill boosts don't seem to be of much practical value, it's only "cool" because it's uncommon and breaks up the monotony of grinding. Basically, play for hours and get a bonus that gives you 20% extra skill for 5 minutes. That means you get the skills equivalent to playing one more minute unless it actually gives you more skill than it says. So it won't affect skill prices or skilling rates. In fact, if you recall, there was a "skill nerf" earlier this year that reduced the rate of hunting skills on most mobs, so skilling rates are probably slower than last year. (I don't keep track)
