I can from the first twenty kills or so 'predict' how the result will be in terms of 'terrible', 'bad', 'okeish', 'fine', 'break-even', 'profit'. Some runs give me more minies then others, meaning a loot of over 1 PED. It happened with this hunt, with the previous none at all hence the most terrible result of that. But what is interesting is that, as good as I can remember, that happens with every weapon. Because I did this run right after the one before with the Mux-2 I can rule out the time-factor. This is the second and so far last hunt I did earlier this week. But let me start with a little something that I forgot to mention before: I think it's been a week or two ago now that I've gotten to 2400 Power Fists. View attachment 7986 Because the previous hunt was four kills short of completing the mission, I've done so this time. I got to choose between Handgun and BLP Weaponry Technology and took the first for the sake of Hitpoints increase. I got me to three new levels in ranged proffessions and a new level in Handgun that I don't care much about either way. View attachment 7987 Haven't done any calculations yet besides what I do every hunt. Therefore I can't say yet wether or not I've gathered enough datapoints to be able to draw a conclusion. Discussion (Part I): Number of Halixes killed per hunt: It is to be expected that due to different maturities that there's a difference in how many Halixes I can kill in one hunt with the same weapon. What is not to be expected is that the difference becomes so great that one can question if a hunt is to be rejected or not. For example I'll take the data from the Castorian EnKnuckles-A: 134, 120, 121, 123, 123, 123, 124, 127, 122, 122, 125, 120, 119, 122, 124, 119, 119, 124, 122, 121 The very first hunt (134 kills) is questionable. I've calculated the possibility that it's a bad datapoint using an Excelsheet I've made years ago as a student. It's based on the '2s method', but I regret to say that I don't know exactly anymore how it goes. I also calculated, using the same Excelsheet, with the '99% Q-test'. Both say that the 134-datapoint is to be rejected. In fact, with all four weapons the questionable data-point that happened to be the first or second is rejectable using the '2s method'. Not with the Castorian EnKnuckles-1 using the '99% Q-test' though. Now the question of course is: should these points be rejected? The difference between the first four hunts, fifth and sixth and all the others are the Mutated Halix. There were no Mutated Halix untill the fifth hunt where I killed two. On the sixth I also killed two Mutated Halix and after that I avoided them. Apparantly there was also a small change with the 'normal' Halixes, most likely a (small) increase in regeneration. Conclusion about the number of kills per hunt: I reject the first six hunts. Scanning with the InvestaFoe ES300: The four different Power Fists that I used have different TT-values and do different damage (although roughly similair). The point here is that one weapon has more or less decay of the ES300 then another. See this table: -Weapon decay (PED)Average ES300 decay (PED)ES300 per weapon (%)Mux-1 EnergyGlove19,359180,668253,452Mux-2 EnergyGlove26,680640,776002,908Castorian EnKnuckles-117,476500,769004,400Castorian EnKnuckles-A16,494091,098636,661What it shows is that when I hunt with the Castorian EnKnuckles-A a much larger procent of the total huntingcost is taken up by the ES300-decay. The result is that when I compare the results with the ES300-decay included that the EnKnuckles-A will be of worsed. Easy to say that I will not take the ES300-decay into consideration. There does however remain the question wether or not scanning has an influence on the loot. That was it for now. Just a small calculation and just a discussion of what numbers to use and what not too. Ardorj
Discussion (Part II): Number of Hunts and Standard Deviation: Because I picked a weapon randomly each time, I haven't do the same amount of hunts with every weapon. But first I want to say a few words about the Standard Deviation. For those who don't know what it is: a short introduction. Standard Deviation (STDEV) is a measurement of how much a set of data is spread-out. For example: take the total days each player has logged on at Planet Arkadia. When you plot that data it will (expected) to form a bellshaped plot. The peak of the plot (or bell) is the mean, most players have logged on that many days at Planet Arkadia. ~70% of all players will be one STDEV either side of the mean. ~95% two STDEV on each side of the mean. ~99% three STDEV away from the meam. A higher STDEV means that the populance is more spread out when it comes to how long we've stayed here. A small STDEV on the other hand would mean that a lot of Arkadians would be 'mid level'. [ The example with how long the players have stayed on Planet Arkadia is perhaps a bad example. It's not likely to come up with a bell-shape. ] Now on to my hunting log. With the returns per weapon I can also calculate the STDEV. A small STDEV means a more reliable result to work with. So, let's see what it is: -Hunts (#)Average return (%)STDEV (%)Castorian EnKnuckles-A1980,33215,884Castorian EnKnuckles-11070,47533,804Mux-1 EnergyGlove1269,70736,427Mux-2 EnergyGlove1662,91026,790Unfortuatly all have, I think, high to very high STDEVs. I will propably have to do more hunts in other to get a better picture. [ And yes, the results are that bad ... ] Maxed-out versus unmaxed: Even though the numbers are quite small and the STDEV is rather high I have started to think about some conclusions and tried to see patterns (that may not exist). One of wich is the possibility that I'm getting 'punished' for using unmaxed weapons. In other words: that a maxed-out weapon with a Dmg/PEC (eco) of 3.000 is better then an unmaxed weapon with an effective Dmg/PEC of 3.000. I don't know if it is, but if so then I hope that it will become clear. EnKnuckles-1 and Mux-1: As you can see in the table above, the return (%) of the EnKnuckles-1 and Mux-1 are close together. I did some calculations to see if there is any (combination of) parameters of these two weapons that are also close together. Sad to say that Excell that a little crash during that time. Out of my head that I've tested: (1) Dmg/PEC, (2) Dmg/Sec, (3) PEC/Sec, (4) [Dmg/PEC]*[Dmg/Sec]. Will do better calculations perhaps later today. Ardorj
Discussion (Part III): Healing Costs: One thing that I forgot the mention before: the cost of the S.I. H.E.A.R.T. per hunt. There are two things that caught my eye about this. First is simple to explain: each weapon has its own average healing costs. See this table: -S.I. H.E.A.R.T.Healing costs (%)STDEV (%)Castorian EnKnuckles-A0,208741,6390,70Castorian EnKnuckles-10,250102,2520,93Mux-1 EnergyGlove0,087750,7640,60Mux-2 EnergyGlove0,106690,7030,37The average decay per hunt with a weapon is listed under 'S.I. H.E.A.R.T.' What I mean with the Healing costs (%) is the procent that the average decay takes for the average result. In other words the first hunt with the EnKnuckles-A got a TT-return of 13,49668 PED with a healing-decay of 0,17100 PED. The healing cost (%) for that hunt is then 0,17100/ 13,49668 * 100% = 1,267%. So far, so good. There is a significant difference in the healing costs for each weapon and that has to be taken into account when calculating the returns. What is of a good interest is where the difference comes from. But now for the second part conserning the healings-costs. The Standard Deviations are, again, high. With some hunts I would have to heal alot while on others just a few times. When I hunt, I almost exclusively hunt and say a few words on socchat. One can then expect that the times when I talk a lot on socchat will be the hunts with low healing-costs and vica versa. But then is not the case, there is no correlation. I can't say yet what is causing the difference in healing-costs (remind you, I'm talking about comparing the costs for every hunt with a specific weapon). Why I'm making so many words about something rather small is .... it may not be. Take a look at the following table (these are the hunts with the Castorian EnKnuckles-A): S.I. H.E.A.R.T.Return (PED)Healing Cost (%)0,1710013,496681,2670,2790010,611502,6290,1800013,285561,3550,0990011,387120,8690,2610012,202812,1390,3060012,747282,4010,2030010,534441,9270,1350020,029650,6740,1130015,685570,7200,2930013,937312,1020,2790016,290611,7130,1890012,148151,5560,2610009,964202,6190,1890016,966641,1140,2070014,034281,4750,3060010,470572,9220,2430014,005791,7350,0990016,111980,6140,1530011,724751,305 Please someone correct me if I'm chasing a 'coldfish-sensor', but what I see here is as follows. When the healing-cost goes down (for whatever reason that is), the return in PEDs will go up. Just made a small graph in Excell and it looks like I am chasing a 'coldfish-sensor' ... ahh. Discussion (Part IV): The Global Problem: There is on thing that keeps buggering me now. First a little note about the lack of updates. I need more time on Planet Earth nowadays and when on Planet Arkadia I've done some other things like skilling Longblades and Shortblades. What I call 'the Global Problem' is something I can't solve on my own. The question is: what to do with the globals I've gotten? Solution 1: just keep them The simpliest solution. Why should I even do something with the globals at all? There can be no doubt that I globalled a few times and it's a positive thing. There is what the Global Problem is all about for me. I've gotten three globals now, see this table: [TABLE"]MaturityWeaponGlobal SizeReturn (%)YoungMux-216,48PED141,138MatureMux-211,86PED101,113YoungMux-112,13PED176,893[/TABLE] To make it clear: two globals for 1360 Halixes killed with the Mux-2 is royally fuckin'up the results. I don't know what (if anything) is causing the globals. I asume it is random, but it can be weapon related? And what to think when I get a big global (>50 PEDs)? That will be a positive result by itself for every weapon. Solution 2: delete those runs Another easy solution and every global is treated the same. Downside is that it is then likely to remove a run that was good enough already without the global. And deleting the entire run might shift the total results downward too much for one weapon. Meaning for the Mux-2 that it will have a severe negative outcome with just these three globals. Solution 3: Keep ~25% of the globalsize When the global is lowered to the size of a good loot, then a good run with global will remain a good run. 25% of the first >16 PED global is still a 4,12PED nice loot. That is about the size of some of the minies I've gotten. To prevent big globals (>50 PEDs) from still kick'in' too many PEDs in a run I could make a cap at 9,99PEDs. The downside is that I don't know what is causing the size of the globals. Solution 4: Remove global, add 7,50PED Every global is thus treaded equally and good runs can remain good runs. So far I can't think of a real downside for this solution, but maybe I miss something? I've put these four solutions in the following table with the pro's and con's. But I will need help with picking the right solution. If anyone can think of a better one then he or she is more then welcome to it. loot = loot. you got it, so you count it in. taking them out would screw up results imo. or go through the trouble of making 2 sets of data: 1 with and 1 without globals counted.
First off: thanks for all the +reps and thanks for my posts in here! It's great to know that others read this and appreciate it. Yes, I see what you mean. That's the whole problem for me. I understand that it's loot and that I therefore should keep it. But on the other hand I am afraid that a big global will give me a return of >1000% on wich I will draw the wrong conclusion. Discussion (Part V) I've made four graphs this morning, all with and without the globals counted. For the without globals I've used the "remove global, add 7,50PED"-solution. The graphs I made with the four most common parameters talked about when comparing weapons: 1) Effective Damage, 2) Dmg/Sec, 3) Dmg/PEC (Eco), 4) PEC/Sec. With all I made trendlines and added the formula (just used the ax+b) and the x^2-correlation. The latter is a measurement of how 'good' a trendline is and gives a value from 0 (terrible) to 1 (best). Easy to say is that it measures for every datapoint how much it is under or above the trendline. The better all points are on the trendline, the better it is then. For a reason I can't explain Excell makes the return % into a value between 0 and 1. Therefore 1 = 100%. 1) Effective Damage View attachment 8009 2) Damage/ Second View attachment 8010 3) Damage/ PEC View attachment 8011 4) PEC/ Second View attachment 8012 Here it is in tableform: -Return (%)Global CorrectionParameterax+bx^2ax+bx^2Effective Damagef(x) = -0,010813x + 0,7495210,007343f(x) = -0,004702x + 0,7348170,001754Damage/ Secondf(x) = -0,020821x + 0,8109070,070624f(x) = -0,012489x + 0,7784300,032066Damage/ PEC (Eco)f(x) = 0,098603x + 0,5369880,925958f(x) = 0,086694x + 0,5662430,904532PEC/ Secondf(x) = -0,086010x + 0,8701280,791829f(x) = -0,075312x + 0,8585640,767182The first, Eff.Dmg, is maybe not suprising not the parameter that determines the outcome. I am not sure yet what x^2-correlation can be acceptible, but I know for certain that when it begins with 0,00 it is not. The second, Dmg/Sec, is also not. However caution must be taken to draw an overhastingly conclusion for this one, because it can play a significant role on high-regeneration mobs. The third, Dmg/PEC or eco, has a x^2-correlation that I must admit not to have expected. It may very well be the only parameter that determines the lootoutcome. The fourth, PEC/Sec, has I think also a neat x^2-correlation although not as good as the Dmg/PEC. Perhaps it contributes something like 25% for the outcome. Conclusion (Continue or not to continue?): That's the question and I've already answered that for myself: continue. For a couple of reason: 1) To perfect the formulas of Dmg/PEC and PEC/Sec and thus find out the turnpoint of breaking even. 2) I've done a lot more calculations, some look promising as well on first sight. 3) To determine if the loot depends on say 75% Dmg/PEC and 25% PEC/Sec. This will ofcourse be very mob-specific. 4) Because years ago I looted a Powerclaw (L) from an Eviscerator and I kept it till I could use it. I will have it maxed-out rather soon when I skill a bit more Power Fist. Ardorj
So I'm going to continue a bit with the datagathering. This one is from saturday or sunday. Also done a scary extrapolation: if what I do and calculate is correct then the break-even-point is at ~5 Dmg/PEC. By the way: I continue to calculate the return here in the 'oldway', that is with the scanningcost. This one is from monday-evening already. I haven't done another hunt yet. Talk about this experiment with a socmate yesterday, he gave me some interesting new things too think about. Might post about those this weekend. On another note: I will likely return to Calypso for a socmeeting and then do some other stuff there as well. I had a thought for you as well. I think you should generate two sets of data - one which keeps the globals exactly as is, and one which replaces the globals as you suggested with a "good loot" in a range you're happy with. I think there is definitely value to be had by examining over the course of say a year which weapons consistently global for you, or whether all weapons eventually get roughly the same global-rate.
Good idea about generating two sets of data, will do. And to examine wether or not one weapon globals more then others too. Now on to the latest hunt, one from yesterday. After that I took a trip to Calypso for a socmeeting and doing some other small things. Like bleeding my PEDCard and doing little missions. A socmate of mine pointed me out to these Developer Notes. It's about the four most important things for an efficient hunt. 1) 10.0 Hit Ability. 2) Relative cost, ie. Dmg/PEC. 3) Maxed out damage. 4) Hunt at your level. In other words: it has been a bad chose of mine to take three out of four unmaxed weapons. I haven't checked yet if leaving the (maxed-out) EnKnuckles-A gives a better correlation of Dmg/PEC. Don't really know when I'll be back again on Arkadia. I already don't like Calypso as much as I like Arkadia. But even then I might take a break from this experiment for a little while longer (or just doing say one hunt every week).
