When skilling vehicle repair on my fave mothership, I listen to the other members of the crew , in our little team speek, talking about their other activities in-game. Mostly the conversations center around their recent experiences mining, hunting, crafting.....the usual stuff. The one thing I've noticed, and it just bugs the hell out me, is that everyone has their own idea of how the names of the various mobs are to be pronounced. Sometimes you can't even tell what the mob under discussion is because of the off-the-wall way the name is pronounced. (Or maybe the off-the-wall is right and my way is wrong.) You guys, the developers, created the mobs, gave them their names. Perhaps it might be a good idea to give us a list of the names with the correct pronounciations. Then Jennifer, or whoever, could add them to the beastiary. Or, as an alternative, they could be listed in a sticky under the "creatures" area. Just a thought.
but then we have the issue with people who dont read the phonetic writings correctly and still wrong pronunciations but yeah good idea
Well simple solution, find someone that speaks proper English and let them pronounce it. To bad both Cyrus and David fall of then with their Asian and Aussie accents, get the guy from the BBC news
i think who ever picked the name should say it because i'm sure he's the one that though of the name and then the spelling would be cool to have a little video with the audible name of each mob on arkadia. and like basic stats and stuff like that...
I would like this as well.. I get some interesting pronunciations from my friends.. that's cause I'm always right!!
We've heard most of the Ark mob names from Dobson over the course of all the interviews he's done. Probably you could just go through and pick them out and you'd have almost all the mob names spoken aloud.
That's true, Rick. But, no offense, how many interviews have David/Cyrus done and how long, timewise, have they been. It just seems like, with the relatively few mobs we're blessed with on Arkadia, that it would be a very, very small project for whomever is in charge of the mobs to put together a glossary (is that the right word?) of mob names and/or a short video, as was also suggested, with a slideshow of the mob and the spoken name. Also, we get new players on this planet almost every day. They would have no reason to know that interviews exist where they can find the correct pronunciations for the mob names. And, of those of us that do now know of the interviews, how many have the time and/or the inclination to wade through them and post a list. I confess...I don't. With all the other semi-major adustments to game that people have asked for in the past,it just seems like a small favor to ask. And it was only a suggestion.
