This thread is an attempt to solve some of our problems with interplanetary trade. For now, it's for unlootable items only. Please don't post feedback or discussion in this thread. Post feedback and discussion in the other thread [link]. The problem: Some items aren't available on Arkadia and it costs a lot of time and peds to fly all over the galaxy. The solution: Create a thread where people can order any item they want to buy from another planet. A shopper reading this thread buys that item and delivers it to them on Arkadia for the cost of purchase plus a small transport fee. Standard Transport Fees: Item price --> fee 0 - 9.99 ped --> 1 ped fee 10 - 19.99 --> 2 20 - 34.99 --> 3 35 - 49.99 --> 4 50 - 69.99 --> 5 70 - 89.99 --> 6 90 - 119.99 --> 7 120 - 154.99 --> 8 155 - 199.99 --> 9 200 - 249.99 --> 10 250 - 299.99 --> 11 300 - 349.99 --> 12 350 - 399.99 --> 13 400 - 449.99 --> 14 450 - 499.99 --> 15 500+ --> 3% of purchase price (These fees may be too high, tho probably not too low. This is just my first attempt to balance buyer's cost with shopper's motivation. I'll revise the numbers if I'm way off.) Basic procedure for ordering: 1) You make an order (cut and paste the form from the post below this one) and post it as a reply to this thread 2) A shopper sees the item you want on a different planet 3) The shopper checks this thread to see if anyone has already purchased the item for you, checking both your order post and any replies that follow it 4) If no one has purchased your item, your shopper buys the item and immediately afterward replies to this thread and states which item he has bought 5) You edit your post and add the shopper's name 6) You decide via PM where and when to meet 7) You trade for the item, including the transport fee, then edit your post to add the date delivered Notes for Ordering: – when ordering an item, be very specific about item name, price, and other conditions. – If you want a specific item on auction, give enough details so the buyer can find the right auction (planet, seller, starting bid, buyout, quantity, etc). If you want someone to place a bid on a specific auction, make sure you tell them your maximum bid. – orders are valid for 7 days if not otherwise specified. If you order something, you're committed to buy it from the person who responds to your order. – if, after posting an order for an item, you find the item for sale on Arkadia, please cancel the order here before you buy it… as long as no one has responded yet to your order. If someone has already responded to your order, then you're committed to buy it from that person. – this thread is for non-lootables only. This means no ores, enmatters, or anything that shows up in the "Materials" or "Mined Resources" sections of your inventory. Armor, weapons, and tools are all OK. If you're unsure, PM me. – please select your due date appropriately. Don't order something that will be due when you're on vacation. – item fees are separate unless you specify otherwise at time of order… that is, if you buy 10 yellow hats that cost 1 PED each, you will pay 10 PED in fees, even if the same person delivers them. – if you don't want to use the standard pricing given above (for instance, if you order 100 Rookie finders and don't want to pay a 100 PED fee), make it clear in the post how much you will pay for fulfilling your order. – Any part of your order can be changed up until the point that someone replies to it. If you're editing your order, please check all replies to the thread before you edit it. Notes for Shoppers: – please post a response in this thread immediately after you buy an item, so no one else fills the order. In case two people respond to a thread, the sale will go to the one who responded first. The other will have to dispose of the item on his own. So it's important that you check the forum immediately before filling an order and post immediately after buying the item. – You will be paid the purchase price of the item plus the agreed-upon transport fee. Any additional transport costs above the stated fee will not be reimbursed. – if you're buying an item the day before the order expires, you only have 1 day to deliver the item – if the order doesn't contain enough information, PM the person who posted it and ask for clarification – anyone caught "skimming", inflating the price you said you paid, or otherwise trying to defraud the other party will not be allowed to use this service. – deliver items promptly, before the due date, if practical. If you repeatedly fail to deliver buy the due date, you will not be allowed to use this service. This service will only work on trust. If you can't be trusted to fulfill your half of the trade, don't participate. – if you already have the requested item on Arkadia and are willing to sell or if you're a crafter and can make it at the requested price, feel free to reply here too. No point in bringing items from off-world that are already on Arkadia. In these cases I recommend reducing or eliminating the "transport" fee and simply trade as you would at other times. Notes for everyone: – in case of disagreements, try to be considerate of the other party. – If your shopper doesn't deliver on time or the orderer doesn't pay on time, PM the negative feedback to me. If I see that someone is repeatedly not performing, they will be asked to stop using this service. – if you know that you will be unable to fulfill your half of the trade or meet at the specified time, PM the other party ASAP so they can make alternate arrangements. – Remember that unavoidable real-life events sometimes happen that prevent a person logging in when they said they would, etc. If you have questions or comments about this thread or this service, please PM me or post it in the other thread [click here for link]. Great idea Neil! Surprised nobody's taken this up yet. I think the main problem for the shopper is having his PED tied up in items that might not be collected on time...or at all. I think the fee needs to be higher for rare items and especially for high mu items, as the shopper would likely make quite a loss if he had to re-sell on auction (auction fees are a lot higher when the price of an item is largely mu. And there is the risk that it won't sell, ofc). But that could be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, i suppose. That said, I'm willing to pick up a few small-ish items (say 200 PED or less) for people, as i go about my travels on the Normandie. This means I could deliver on Mondays and Wednesdays at around 21-ish, or later on Fridays (check Mandie's schedule here ). I also travel between Caly and ARk in my own time fairly often, but I prefer to keep the rest of my time unscheduled! jay
It's good to see the complaints about item availability have ceased, but I'm sure there's somebody out there who needs a hard-to-find item from off-world....
