The most expensive aspect of mining is buying probes. Regular finders (like the TerraMaster) will use 30 probes for each attempt. That's 1.5 PED per drop, and you may need to make 10 to 50 drops to make a mining run worth your while. So mining can be a big risk for new players who haven't deposited yet have just a few peds from selling sweat. Fortunately, there is a way to try out mining for much less cash: use a Genesis Rookie Finder. Each attempt uses only 3 probes (.15 ped). So for 5-10 ped worth of probes, you can have a good chance of at least breaking even. These finders work just as well as the full-sized TerrMasters, but your finds will be 10 times smaller. A noob can find all of the resources they'd find with a bigger finder, but for less cost. They also break after 12 or 13 full drops, but that's OK because they're dirt cheap (only 0.06 ped each). Unfortunately, these finders are not available from the Arkadian TT, but several Arkadian players do have them (including me). I've got about 400 in storage right now, so if you'd like to try out a few (or a few dozen!), please come see me. PM me here if you can't find me at the quarry. Neil Greenleaf Stockton Note to mods: I don't consider this a "selling" thread because I'm not selling these for profit... just a note to let new players (and older ones, perhaps) know that they can get into mining without spending a fortune.
maybe you should mention they don't need to use 30probes or 3probes too, they can just as easily mine for one resource too and only use 10 enmatts or 20 ore, and with rookie finder 1 enmatt or 2 ore
What she said ^^ You can mine for ores (2 probes per attempt) or enmatter (1 probe per attempt) or both at the same time (3 probes per attempt).
