    View attachment 1652 Planet Arkadia is all about community involvement, and now you have the chance to make your mark on the Arkadian landscape!

    The DevTeam are developing an official Arkadian Flag and are looking for inspiration from the community, and as such we are creating this competition and will be running it for one month.

    What you need to do
    Come up with a flag design and submit it here for review.
    The flag design must be 'flat', but if you want to show us how it looks in 3D, then go ahead.
    The dimensional ratio should be 2:1 (Width:Height) or close enough to that as you can gauge by eye. For example, 1024x512 pixels.
    Think of it like a real flag - not too many colours.

    The DevTeam will then choose either one design, or draw elements from multiple entries to create the final Official Flag of Arkadia!

    All entrants who participate will receive 200 reputation points on the forum, and those who have inspired the DevTeam will receive Gold Membership to the forum for a whole year, oh, and lets not forget the best part: Bragging rights!

    Competition Summary
    1. Create and submit a flag design for Planet Arkadia
    2. Dimensional ratio to be 2:1 (or thereabouts)
    3. Don't use too many colours
    4. All entrants receive 200 reputation points
    5. Winner(s) receive Gold Membership
    6. Bragging rights!

    Please note: Whilst all possible recognition will be made to participants whose designs help form the eventual final design, all copywrite must and will pass to Arkadia Studios on completion of this event.

    Idea: Stripes & geometrical patterns have been used for flags since ages. Getting boring.
    A sun, a decent background color, and the unavoidable "A" thus.
    Quick, simple, unforgettable.

    I'm a most bad designer. So take this as an idea. Use it, change it, at your will. I'm not after shiny things like a "Gold Membership" ;-)

    But I'd take the Rep without defending too much :)

    i totally like endy´s first design cuz thats how i kinda pictured it myself ;)
    but my non existant computer drawing competence made it look like a sketch from a 2 yo kiddie.
    maybe i dust of my real-world painting skills and give it a try :rolleyes:

    Very few flags have letters or names on them that's why I choose this simple design. Arkadia, with the belt of stars and the moon. This is how it looks when u point your spaceship in it's direction. This is how u recognize it from space. Of course you can add colors or other things to it, this is just the inspiration.

    *Colors represent the stuggle colonist have endured*
    -Blue represents our freedom and prosperity on Arkadia.
    -Red represents the blood and courage it took to overcome the Oratan.

    Here is my idea.

    A flag is a symbol and colors etc have a meaning to represent whats it stands for.
    Here is the flag as I have it in my mind and with a explanation.

    The colors:

    Blue: Blue often represents freedom, vigilance, perseverance, justice, prosperity, peace, and/or patriotism.

    Arkadia gained it's freedom when it was retaken from the Orathan. But the Arkadians stay vigilant since the Oratan are still present at the planet.
    The Arkadia community have perseverance in these hard times, they maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty, obstacles, and discouragement and continue steadfastly.
    Arkadians are patriotic but are a very peaceful community.

    Red: Red often represents courage, revolution, hardiness, blood, and/or valor.

    Red stands for the blood that was shed to defeat the Orathan.
    It also represents the courage, valor and hardiness that was shown by the Arkadians in this battle.

    Yellow: Yellow often represents the sun, wealth, and/or justice.

    The yellow or gold stands for the sun witch means on its turn Glory and splendor, fountain of life.
    Arkadia became the fountain of life for her community.

    Symbols:

    Wings: Swiftness and protection (Heraldic meaning)

    This stands for the Arkadia community who is capable as no other to react fast on changes and the ability to swiftly adapt to situations.
    Also the Arkadia community will protect there planet and each other at all times and at any price.

    Circle: Fidelity (Heraldic meaning)
    In general: An ancient and universal symbol of unity, wholeness, infinity, the goddess, female power, and the sun.

    The circle stands for the unity of the Arkadian community, they stand together as one.
    It also shows the quality of being faithful and loyal of the Arkadian community.

    The Stool or capital A: The symbolic shape of a stool stands for Hospitality.
    The Arkadia community shows great hospitality towards visitors and new arrivals.
    They will go great lengths to make them feel comfortable and at home.
    It is also shaped as the capital A which is the first letter of Arkadia and the first letter in the alphabet, meaning that there is nothing above it. Being the top / number one.
    Arkadians are proud people.

    This a symbolic version of the flag as shown on vessels.
