welcoming the first colonists

I'd be nice if there will be a party welcoming the first (twenty) colonists landed on Arkadia with flowers, food, armor parts, weapons, vehicles and other valuable prizes

Not that I'd mind that, but I doubt the first 20 will slow down long enough to party, but if they do, np, I wont wait so I'll get the first hits at the mining at least. 20 people wont be a drop in the bucket for the first hour or two, so I really dont believe they'll stop them for a party, or free stuff, just let us in and away, we'll find something of interest,without begging for it..

I think it's a great idea if someone will welcome you on the new planet and will give you a gift, especially if you are The First Colonist or in the first group of colonists ever trodden the planet

I think your the one who doesn't quite get it. The planet is under attack. The military is losing badly, they want and need reinforcements right now. They might not have had a days rest to themselves in weeks. So having a party for the first people to hit the planet would be the last thing from their minds, they worry about living and we are there to get them supplys and set up better defenses, so having a party to welcome us?? Hmmm Maybe not. And giving any gifts... they dont have enough stuff for themselves right now, that's what we're for.:huh:

 

Sorry, but this statement coming from the same person whining like a 3-year old that you have the "right" to know Arkadia equipment stats pre-launch is laughable. Maybe you're the one who should remain on Calypso.

 

Lets hope then that MA decide not to turn off the planetary tp option as many believe space ships will be in the same update as the Arkadia launch.

 

I think it was posted somewhere that the MA official at Twin stated that the space flight update would be Thursday if I'm not mistaken. I don't think it would be a good idea to launch both Arkadia and the space flight on the same day, and certainly not take away TP access to any of the planets.

I think our space pilots need to be able to acclimate themselves to the new system before a smooth operation begins (don't know), and I'm not sure how many pilots would be in business and ready at the time that the planet was launched anyway, which would make it a challenge for sure.

I really don't think they're going to do away with the TP option to get to planets, at least I hope they don't, because then we would be in the same situation we were before and having to wait for long periods of time for a pilot to be ready to head to whatever planet it is we wanted to go to. We had enough of that, and I think it would piss a lot of people off. Besides, I'm sure whoever collects and benefits from the TP fees wouldn't want that revenue stream to stop either.

 

And Mindark would never do something that would piss off a lot of players

From how I read the newsletter from Cyrus I think that he will be arround at launch day. I mean ok the see you on Arkadia could be just a phrase but I don't read it like that. Would be awesome if he is there but I have to agree with Calin... just an official ava to chat with for a bit about launch and the planet would be much more than I would expect already since it must be a stressfull day for the team. No need for gifts at all... a sucessfull launch of Arkadia will be the best gift I can think of for Entropia Universe.

Actually, I'd like to take this idea further and to say that I'd like every new planet to be opened like this, with a ceremony at the arrival and some memorable gifts for the first colonists to arrive.

Arkadia could be a good example of that. It's much better to have people warmly welcoming you at the arrival, than just to step out of TP into the fully functioning but absolutely empty base. It doesn't even feel right.

The arrival is the moment that you will remember for a long time, so it makes all sense to make it special.

Not to mention that if there suddenly was a screenshot competition on this forum giving prizes to the first 20 colonists to arrive, I'm more than sure no one of you calling me names would say a word against it, you all would go "Cool!" "Wow!" "Way to go A-Team!". So save your steam please, it's laughable.

And to people who hate poor, rich, beggars, gifts and people receiving gifts, celebrations, me in particular and just hate in general - I don't have to comment here on those problems in your heads, right? Right. So I won't.

To Endy ... while I can absolutely understand your perspective on this, and how cool it would be to be greeted as new colonists on Arkadia, I think perhaps the crucial point would be ... how feasible is it to give away gifts, or even one gift to those who flock to the planet after launch. I would venture to guess that based on discussions at this forum since we first learned about Arkadia, and the fact that Dave just shared with us that at launch AsiaSoft will be marketing Arkadia to 38 million people, we have no clue how many new colonists there will be to greet when the gates open.

I like the sentiment endy, and perhaps it would be nice to have a little memento as one of the first to arrive at the TP, but I can also understand how everyone else is feeling as well, and I particular agree with the following quote:

We've had enough challenges over the years, so it would absolutely be a gift to all of us if this launch went as planned and we have a whole new planet (well, parts that are finished anyway) to explore with hopefully minimal if any issues.

Let's not tear each other down before we set foot on what looks like a new frontier worth embracing.

 

Endy, the whole begging for stuff in the middle of a war, just because of a new planet's opening is a quite noobish thing to ask....as a matter of fact, it sounds like something I would ask... like this...

I know your busy and all running out of supplies and needing reinforcements, your planet will be running amock with noobs. Can you please take the time to instead of having a cerimony for the first 20 colonists, but instead drop some cool shit in MY storage so i can retrieve it as soon as I get there, I really wouldnt mind at all If i were the test dummy for a new armor like say Alien Armor.. or whatever u like... p.s. if u want to give to another 19 colonists or all colonists that come the first day. I dont really care.. nope dont mind at all.

I am definitely not attacking anyone, it was actually just a suggestion for the Arkadia team, the huge load of hatred from some people on this forum was a bit of surprise.

Btw, freebie haters, how about this one, actually found it long after my previous post, I believe it's the official promo:

"Launch of Planet Arkadia: Witness the launch of the new Planet Arkadia, look out for freebies during the launch!"

Well, I also have issue with "the first 20". That means it would go to the 20 people with the fastest download connection. That doesn't sound terribly fair to me. My speed is ok, but I know a lot of people have MUCH slower speeds.
If there was to be any give-aways it should be done in a way that is fair to all. (plus I really do dislike beggars)
