So the crazy rules stoped me from warning people about a particular person sca...wopps cant say that I might make someone cry. So I suppose I would have to say I want to warn new players about buying anything in auction before you look at the trade and tech terminals first. I did post a name of someone I caught red handed but apparently he has the right to rip you off and get away with it.

If the A Team really wanted to make the new player experiance better then they might actually do something about it. It is not the first time or avi and it wont be the last.

Oh and since I cant post the images here, I will just have to put the slide show on you tube.

Hope I did not breal the rules this time as it took ages to write on my phone.

It's not the first time TT items and bps have been put in auction by established players who know exactly what they are doing. Shitty behavior. And I really dont get it. Profit made is small compared to the impact on the new player. All we can do is alert the new players to this practice.

I would love it if we could tell new players before they get burnt but sadly they usually find out the hard way.

The only way that I can see to prevent it is if MA gave a dam and started handing out warnings when enough people provode evodence. But the problem is that MA probably make more money off the au fee and just dont care.

Perhaps an elegant solution would be one of, or a combination of, the following:

    1. Prevent TT Items being sold in Auction, personally this won't do as people may want to buy something that has low TT value, and this would also affect the crafting population to some degree.
    2. In the auction system, flag the item as being available in TT also.
    3. Item descriptions could include some text about it being available in the TT.

U can actually add value to TT items - increase QR or tiering. Plus import from other planets. So there can be legitimate reason to resell. But I like the idea of some indicator on the item.

    Couple of things here Tony:

    1. You titled this thread to say that it wasn't a name and shame...yet the title of the other thread is "Name & Shame - TT Item Scammer" and the persons name is clearly posted. You then go on to say "<avatar name removed>........Shame on you for doing this". Please explain how that is not then considered a name and shame???
    2. If you read rule 2E properly, it doesn't stop you from warning people of the practices used, it only stops you from naming the person directly. It is, as far as I know, possible to loot legitimately, items available in the TT/Technician (someone correct me if I am wrong here). So on that basis, noone can trully prove, regardless of screenshots taken, whether that person is actually scamming. Still, I agree that the behaviour is suspect and in general terms the community, specifically our newer members, should be warned to take note and care of such things being possible.
    3. The rule states "make the post/thread as generic as possible and avoid posting the person(s) name(s) (this also includes screenshots)". So if you fixed up those aspects, I would be happy to reapprove the thread for you.
    4. The rules aren't crazy. Its not about not making someone cry, its about keeping the peace whilst still educating the community, both old and new, about suspicious actions being observed. I do not know how to make it more clear and plain for you guys. If you follow the rules, the warning still gets out there to people. If you are not sure on how to post it or want advice, then contact one of us Forum Staff and we will give you all the assistance we can.
    5. Lastly, if you are that concerned about this sort of behaviour, you really should be filing a support ticket.

So, to reiterate, as long as you obscure the name from the screenshots and remove the avatar name from the OP of the thread, the thread itself can still stand and have an educational purpose.

And for those folks following the show at home:

    Thanks Van, great suggestions.

It would be great if there was some way to limit how TT items could be sold, but it would have to alow for TT BP's that have a QR.
And those BP's are the only ones that should be sold anyway.

    Kikki made a great comment.
If a TT item has QR or tiers then yes it should definitely be allowed to be sold.

As Snape said, some of Items that are available from TT can be looted from mobs also (don't know exactly about crafting, but think thats also the case). So posting names about this special situation can lead to a situation that a poor noob, who is lucky for having looted a nice item from a mob, can suddenly see his/her name in such a thread without doing something wrong. There are other ppl out there that doing scam in more awful cases, and I would vote for the right naming them somewhere, but not in that special TT-Auction case. It can too easylie lead to bringing trouble to the wrong persons.

Tons of Ark TT items are put on the Caly auction every day with MU, don't see how that is a scam.

Yea you can't assume all TT stuff is a "scam"

some stuff is not available i know i've bought some herb boxes for MU here and i didn't feel scammed

and what KJ said about like say a carabok BP with QR is worth more then the TT one. Also you could find a high TIR TT gun that could be kind of worth more.

I know personally i sell things like Rookie Finders to newbs for TT but i dont think others are nesesarily evil for it.

There are enough legitimate reasons to sell TT items in auction, such as high tier, high QR, it comes from TT on another planet, that I think the best option would be if somehow auction or the description flagged it as a TT item so that new players would know. Could even put in the descriptions of every TT item what planets TT sells them, that way a new player seeing an herb box on Ark auction would not go to the TT and wonder why the description says it is a TT item and he can't find them in TT.

Ok, I can sefely say that, this particular case is not that of the poor noob who was lucky to loot one.

I had screen shots of 6 TT BP's but there was a couple of BP's I did not screen shot as they were the same type as in the shots already.

That person did not have any other BP's.
The TT BP's he was selling did not have any QR.

This was most definitely a case of someone buying BP's from the tech and selling on auction.

Yes I agree, and I do buy TT BP's that have a high QR.

I will have to just blur out the persons name and re post the images so you can see for yourself.

Ok now you all have missed the point because the post that had the screen shot showed the Ark TT Bp's with no QR.

Im not complaining about people selling off world TT items, or selling TT BP's with QR, that's completely legit.

I think we get that there was shitty behaviour going on in this instance. I guess the point is its difficult to implement some sort of blanket rule to protect new players. We can really only educate them.

    Yep your absolutly right.

I think in this instance I may have gone a bit over the deep end, probably because im tired of seeing new players being ripped off.

I probably should have started by trying to contact the seller and asking him if he was aware of what he was doing.

When I came to Ancient Greek the first time I spent half a hour at TT until it finally gave me 3 herb boxes with all nice 3-digits tier values (for personal use ofc, not for resell). Probably wouldn't be anything wrong if someone would do the same to sell the items to someone less patient or with less time on hands. One man's time is another man's money :). As long as the second guy knows exactly what he pays for.

    Hi,

would love if there was a small inscription in the "buy item" window in auction (for TT items):

"This item can be purchased from the trade terminals on planet xy."

and even more, if we had a small line of text to add to our auctions, shown in said "buy window" too, for instance:

    "Check the good tiers, grasshopper!"
    or
"Imported specially for you, with huge risks & costs!"

    Have a good time!

Many issues, and a lot is due to limitations of the existing public buying/selling system, mainly, auctions ...

    1. One can only adjust price on a 1 PED basis. So I have a 0.01 PED item, I MUST sell it for no less then 1.00 PED.
    2. High auction fee for low TT value items. When you have to pay 0.50 PED to list any item, you are stuck with listing those TT items at a higher "value" then your base TT.
    3. On an item that is 0.51 PED, I must sell it for 2 PED to make more profit then just TT it.

So as you can see, in many cases you cannot blame the person selling it for "scamming". They didn't create these conditions, MA did.

Solution? Come up with a real market trading system that doesn't set limits on prices, and allow for price adjustments by the seller. And instead of collecting a set fee (0.50 PED min), collect based on a percentage of final sales price.
