So after a long time away from lootable pvp, I decided to try out Arks for a bit. Overall it seems pretty good, however it is open to a major exploit atm. If you jump in from outside of the lootable zone the radar will show for a split second. The person already in the zone wont notice because of the game terrible draw distance, but the pker will be able to line right up with whoever is in the zone. An avatar named Goddess Tiffany Aphrodite appears to also know this as they jump in and out of the zone looting people. Leaving the radar on gives the miners/hunters inside a false sense of security and leaves the zone open to a huge exploit.
or make a buffer zone that is not pvp but radar doesn't work, so people cant run the edge of the zone to scan around for targets.
Wouldn't really fix the TP chip exploit though. In all honesty, does ark need a lootable zone anymore? MA now seems to be ok with pyrite in regular pvp and nothing on ark uses blood moss/himi so why not just kill two birds with one stone and turn off lootable.
Tested your theory and i do not see radar at all.Tpd from many places and i think it was just a random bug.seems the update yesturday fixed it.I hv never got pyrite on regular pvp areas on ark but on caly its there.
That would be very interesting if they did, maybe support cases do work. Though you really cant tell unless there is a mob or person on the radar. They only show up for a few frames but thats all you need. I'll try to test later on if I can. Ya she got me, damn MA gave me a 600 ped lyst hof and they found me tucked into the tree area i summoned the claim too. When I went back in to look for some revenge I found them jumping in and out on the edge of lootable pvp.
I can confirm this exploit does work. tested it and tried it multiple times. Fortunately i haven't been pk'd in lootable (yet) but this is a major issue... also as an issue is running around the outside. I've been able to see svena, nikolas, alina, and aphrodite on one occasion just running along the outer rim of lootable pvp.. it's a huge fucking exploit.
sorry for bumping old thread but i think sometimes the radar remains visible (after using tp chip to go in) until you come out of pvp so some people use this to get unfair advantage on other who is mining or hunting inside the lootable pvp so a fix would be to enable radar for all here is a screenshot of what i mean
It also comes back if you relog in a PvP area, and remains clear until you leave the server boundary. That said Dylan has openly stated that the radar static in Arkadia PvP will be removed.
I prefer radar off... A big reason why I dont pvp4 on caly is because; uber players with stupid investment amounts in gear just teleport around looking for green dots to farm, there is no waiting, no ambushing, no real planning to use your environment to your advantage... just "oh look green dot, let me go whack it with my 40k ped pvp rifle" In ark pvp4 with radar off you have to pay attention to your surroundings, you cannot just watch your radar, then scope and shoot. Because even if a player is uber has great shrap/burn/pen armor on, a mid lvl pvp'er can sneak up and whack them with a cryo chip, or electric chip because the player used his surroundings, while stalking his prey he accessed the armor his opponent is using and changed weapons to exploit it's weakness. basically no radar pvp4 is real pvp, that requires more then just skill points and peds... although skill points and peds still helps a lot, it's not the same instant game winner it is on caly pvp4.
well any news on this ? how long it takes MA to fix some small things ? they only put priorities on their content which is now the camera there so many bugs around and they refuse to fix
