With a bit of a provoking thread title I'd like to share my observations on the state of Treasure Hunting so far. I know it's the summer slowness, Calypso events competing for in-game time etc. Nevertheless, in the few months we now are able to hunt for Treasure, there has basically formed no market chain for Treasure. After the initial rush by the crafters to chase the new BP's, markup on Treasure dropped to TT food for most, and for the few items that DO sell with markup, the volume is so low even a modestly active miner like myself will crash the market when I do more than 2 focused runs a day and throw my finds on auction.... and even then it won't sell unless I put a 100.5% start bid. Volumes are so low that markets can be played easily, and they are. See the picture below for the market data. View attachment 4493 As for SOOTO: besides the decorative nature of the treasure and the use as different storage container, it's not worth pursuing. My SOOTO ratio is 1:3000 drops. In summary, the Treasure Hunting profession is a dead end at the moment. What's lacking is a desirable use of the materials to craft items like keys, guns or attachments that hunters or miners are willing to pay markup for. Until that happens, Treasure Hunting for me means a way to gain some easy Health Points and skills. When I hit the flat end of the skill gain curve and my resource map is complete, I will stop and won't bother anymore. Which is a pity, as I think the concept is nice and a possible differentiator in the Entropia Universe. /Slupor
Because of the healthgains, and i really wish i had your sooto rate But indeed if you want to mine treasures for markup, or even for your own use, you can basically forget about it till the next VU.
They said that the Instances are coming out in august...apart from that it is well known there is no market for treasure yet Rgds Ace
Health gains are no sustainable driver for the profession, and the occasional skill farmer will drive Markup even lower as his profit will come from the sale of skills rather than the Treasures found. And as for my SOOTO rate, what can I say, it's a skill based game and knowledge matters I look forward to the next VU, any insight what and when it might bring?
Instances are currently scheduled for August content release. They'll require the keys which use TH loot as ingredients. So should see some boost in demand then.
I had another SOOTO today so the average is closer to 1:2000; anyone want to buy a Shagadi Fort painting?
SOOTO rate about 0:8,000 so far here. They really need to add a LOT more SOOTO stuff to make it really interesting, even if it's mostly little decorative stuff.
I would be very appreciate if you can give me some advise about the sooto. My last sooto happened in last October, so I haven't get any sooto after over 20k drops, did I do anything wrong? Am I really a that bad miner? :surrender:
Treasure hunting is a big disappointment for me, there were too many useless mining resources even before it was introduced. This issue I guess is more MA's fault than Ark, but things like Vesperdite and Henren have still not been given any good use (years have passed since they were found), so why bring in so many new resources in all the different planets? I had hopes for something more interesting with TH, perhaps they should have waited and released it together with the instances VU in August. p.s. SOOTO can be found in Ark? I have been mining here for many months and have never found any. In calypso I got them at the normal rate as everyone else.
Yes, market for TH itemz is dead atm ... can only hope things will turn around in August. Got my first SOOTO today - a Mah'ketta Arm Guard and was nice feeling, but guess is quite random thing and pretty rare. One thing I noticed ... mining on all resources at once tends to give way more TH finds than ore or enmatter - that's a bad thing atm though considering MU
Gratz on the SOOTO, had another one today as well. your TH : ore : enmat ratio should be around 3:2:1... go figure out why that is the case
Thank you for that - it felt good ... but now seriously, what I meant is that TH finds are more frequent than others at a ratio above 50:33:16 as u would think from TT spent on probes ... i'm talking about claim rate, not tt return btw
I'm start to wondering, is SOOTO based on the own avatar's luck? Some avatars are so lucky, where they can easily get one SOOTO for every 2~3k drops, while some of them got nothing at all, even though they had dropped more than 25k+ probes...
SOOTO what is that :surrender: Well over 6.5k in ped worth of drops just on treasure alone and still not a thing, I've given up on that dream. As for the materials, yes no market . I do now use some materials I get for my own crafting which is nice, the items have slow sell rate but they do make great gifts and prizes for other things. But I agree the market for treasure hunting is stagnant at the moment and can't wait until instances as I have tons of keys for me and my friends to use up .
I think its a shame that the players that support TH takes the economical hit on a partial released feature, why should they even bother to go TH now? In august when they release full version there will be more people that TH and maybe they get the good stuff who knows, all i know that it really doesnt make sense.
whats a SOOTO? havent seen one in maybe 50k drops so im kinda shocked of ur 3000:1 ratio.. but it excites me if there rly is some armor parts u can get also.. and no wonder its a "no go prof" when u are undercutting auctions with 4%! daily sell was 133%, 0 khorums in auction, dropped 3 piles for 135%, then someone undercut to 132% and now u went for 126%
Nice first post on Arkadia Forum, let's see if the community here appreciates your contributions just as much as they do on EF Well, overcutting in a dead market does not help making sales so don't be surprised if sellers rush in to feed the rare buyer who shows up on a blue Monday. Are you going to cry about the guy who put up Khorum for 120.6% too? You might prepare yourself for some more disappointment...
well ppl dont seem to know what might have some markup.. if AH is empty and there is daily sells that usually means something goes more than there is available in auction..
Actually I see it as people put stuff up in AH for what they think it is worth. If someone is willing to dump at 120% that person is not wrong in any way and should not be ridiculed, they just want to dump the stuff as fast as possible to get PED. That is the way the world works IRL and I see no reason for it being any different here. Pretty sure buyers love it when they see a pile of goods they want for super cheap. Remember just because the markup figure drops does not mean actual price has to drop, you have to know whats in demand or not, demand items will and do sell for above MU value all the time. That markup window is just a general EU wide sales consensous it in no way is 100% what something you hold is worth because goods have different values on each planet. Example. just because muscle oil is at 103% in the markup window does not mean it is not worth 110%, it may be abundent and selling cheap on calypso bringing price down to 103% but on Arkadia there could be a extreme shortage and it is worth 110% there. Markup screen is not law in any means of the term.
