Hi guys, As part of our marketing campaign, Planet Arkadia is doing a series of continued online advertisements for 2012 and 2013. I'd like to ask for your suggestions on where you think Planet Arkadia should be advertising online? We are currently using google adwords to place ads and so I'd need specific website addresses that you think are appropriate for our campaigns. Looking forward to receiving your suggestions. Cheers, Cyrus
I don't know any sites that use adwords but i would recommend advertising on: http://www.kongregate.com/ It's a site with loads of flash games, with lots of online users any given time of the day and most importantly a lot of them are used to paying real money to play in some lame online flash mmo's, so perfect target audience if you ask me.
Maybe think about a way to reach people that have Adblock plus installed and don't use Google? I'll never see any ads and will only use Google if I can find a stick long enough to touch it... Getting articles on Gaming websites is maybe harder but at least it's not blocked by ABP
using AdBlock too and never seen an ad since try to advertise here http://www.gametrailers.com/ and put the awesome trailer u made there too
Hi, why not try Poker sites, bragging about the huge ATH's to be harvested here? Ouch - ducks and runs!:surrender: Else? http://www.mmorpg.com/index.cfm and maybe the big news portals for a less nerdy audience? Depends how much money you'd love to spend ... (Could yield some success because of the sheer amount of visitors, but I'd not count on it ... And I've left out the more conservative and more "@poor people" aimed ones) For the german speaking area this would be: http://derstandard.at/ http://www.nzz.ch/ http://www.spiegel.de/ http://www.sueddeutsche.de/ http://www.faz.net/ and for the german speaking geeks the best visited IT portal there, it's a must: http://www.heise.de (and it's sub-sites) Hard to give serious recommendations without knowing more, of the amount of money to be spent, and about the kind of target audience expected. I might be able to have this question answered by a professional international media agency, maybe. If interested, drop me a line. Have a good time!
Niko can tell ya... but of course they'd probably want payment. http://www.nikopartners.com/ or.. massively.joystiq.com mmohut mmofront mmosite
Cyrus, if you type 'Arkadia' into google it come number 9 on the list. Is there a way to make it appear number 1! Also maybe any searches for treasure hunting, Arkadia etc set off a actual advert? I also suggest advertising on mmorpg.com, all the big games are there
Google shows listings in different positions depending on who and where you are (among other things). For example when I search for Arkadia, it appears second in the list (after some nightclub in Miami). That said, potential new players, people who have never heard of eu, would probably not be doing a search for Arkadia. I would suggest buying keywords such as "online games", "sci-fi games", "mmog" and that sort of thing, then tracking the spend and conversions for each keyword so you don't waste money on keywords that are not converting (google provides some tools for this).
lol that was fast, awesome you are advertising there. The picture itself could be a bit more spectacular though View attachment 4516 EDIT: lol just saw the ad on www.buienradar.nl as well (a dutch weather website), seems google really knows what i like
You should look into working with a company such as this one to help with research. http://www.linkfishmedia.com/
I am not sure, if we really want to see articles in gaming magazines these days... if you compare it with actual MMOs then EU does not look that impressive anymore (especially GW2). plus we don't have a story line. Plus playing costs easily more than a regular MMO. I am happy with EU as it is right now, I just say: a regular magazinbe will not write an article that is good for us.
I just saw this one on the website of dilbert. Very nice to see you guys advertisin. I hope it brings in some more people. View attachment 4519
The trick with Ad Words is to display the add when people are looking for stuff other then a game or EU specific. You need to know what else people that potentially play EU are looking for. For example putting your money on the word MMO or MMORPS will cost you a lot of money en will probably not get you any traffic, because Blizzard will be paying even more for a click. So you have to figure out what else people that play games search for on Google.
Having come across a couple of your advertisements such as 1. When you have such a ad copy you are basically shooting yourself in the foot unless you are targeting a very niche crowd who would want to play "The most expensive sci fi RPG" 2. Another Image ad ( again served google ads) which i shall upload later on did not have the CTA (Call to Action) that is so important while creating ads. Add to that the context ( which is keyword driven) was totally absent and very few people are likely to click a gaming ad when viewed alongside a political debate. I would suggest including a few of the following in your marketing endeavors 1. Research : Keyword, Competitor and Market. This will provide you with preliminary data set to work with. 2. Split Test : Every view/click should be tracked and recorded for analysis. Data analysis is the key to successful marketing campaigns. Use the data collected in your research from split tests on your images/keywords/catch lines etc 3. Go beyond Google as well : The marketing strategy is directly dependent on the niche you are targeting. In the gaming niche there are way cheaper/economical alternatives to marketing your product. Very happy to see the initiative and the game actually being marketed. Perhaps a bit more focused approach can better your ROI. Good Luck, Divinity
Realisticly if you want the most bang for your buck in advertising you need to get them out on all the internet gaming sites for online poker and things like that. EU does not really appeal to the "Normal" gamers as its had too much bad press for years in that arena. EU wants the people who will put money into the game. Those people are ones with addictive mental tendancies to be honest and if you can find someone who is OCD, with a touch of gambling addiction, or thrill seekers, that is the target audience for EU to make money from. Trying to offer this to typical gamers will not really bring the most money into EU. Yes it will bring some players that like the game and end up staying like many of us did. If they want just the money (which is VERY obvious from MA's way they handle the game) and dont really care much for the actual player then the poker sites and internet gaming sites are the way to go. (Disclaimer: I am in no way saying the A Team thinks as MA does and simply suggesting where to get the best financial return for the advertising dollar) Of course they can always take it one step further and post adds on sites for psychology studies. I am sure there would be MANY OCD personalities to pick from on those... not sure what kind of money that would bring but for sure would attract people.
