Greetings, SOOTO: "Something Out Of The Ordinary" As far I have studied it's a system withing Treasure Hunting or Mining meant to let something out of the ordinary happen and loots special items. I personally think such a system is quiet interesting and can bring alot variety. "Something out of the ordinary happens and now gratz for your Porsche 550 Spyder" One of the biggest questions behind it may be how it works or how it triggers out. Have you ever found a SOOTO while you are participating inside Entropia Universe? Is a SOOTO a random event which happens and could happen anytime? Do you have to spend a specific amount of resources until it happens? Do several people have to spend a specific amount of resources until it happens? Is a SOOTO placed on a fix spot where it's meant to be found and you have just to be in the right place? What are your thoughts on the SOOTO System? Looking forward to a constructive and scientific talk. regards, Solo
Be careful with such an estimation... ppl might drop 8k bombs and still don't get it... and then they blame you .
Lol Smoerble, was gonna say something similiar. MA controls the loot system, and they don't tell us the kind of things Alex is asking for sure. Everyone has theories though based on years of experiences, just remember that in the end they are all theories only. Something out of the ordinary is just that, could have been a beacon for robot ship mission on Calypso, Angel Scales etc, now various items on Arkadia like decorations, armours, weapons etc, and as something 'out of the ordinary' won't be found every time you go mining no matter how experienced you are, or what tools you use etc, they are a special treat once in awhile
Dropped more than 6k probes, but still didn't "Smell" any sense of SOOTO yet... Hopefully, it's incoming soon enough... lol
My last sooto is in last October, I have tracked my mining activity this year, I have dropped 14815 drops and still no sooto
cute: he is asking especially for Sooto since treasure hunting, not full year. So in the past days I dropped roughly 300 bombs for Trasure on Ark, 2 globals, lvl 2 amp. Oh, and no sooto, but I didn't expect one, lol .
sooto's are very strange. In all my mining on arkadia i have never ever found one (20-30k drops). In 400 drops on calypso i found 4 beacons with sooto (but i think the sooto rate was pumped up on calypso for the beacons). I'm willing to bet I'll be a level 30 treasure hunter before i find a sooto, but that is just my personal sooto experience. I don't think it's purely random, but that it related on how an avatar acts, but that is just wild speculation.
As I understand the question he may be asking because of the treasure hunting but the question is asking how the sooto system works in general. In my opinion all input on this subject is relevant.
SOOTO has only recently become an active thing on Ark though....recent as in the 29th of May recent.......
About the general question how Soooto works: MA secret (not kidding here). We all assume, it's more or less random, but no-one can generate enough statistical data to be 100% sure. Until you dropped enough bombs to find a pattern (10k+) we already ran through new VUs that might have changed the system. If you compare Sooto from Caly with Ark: It seems it's easier to find a Sooto on Caly than on Ark. It seems the items on Ark treasure hunting are more rare but also more valuable than on Calypso. That would match the known MA loot distribution behaviour. Still there might be some manual or scripted switches (like the item loots in 779 robots on Cyrene).
I used to mina ALOT @ caly a couple of years ago and only found SOOTO with UL finders back then...And yes i almost got all my SOOTO's around Oshiri...
Hello, after some researches I came across the Alienware Event where PC Hardware could be found with the SOOTO system. There seems to have been a startpoint where it started and an enddate until its possible to find the items. The Event was not of unlimited time it seems. How do these things work? I mean getting PC-Hardware as a company i suppose is not for free or maybe for free since theres advert then at the homepage for the hardware retailer. But I rather estimate that the PC-Hardware needs to be purchased at least for a part. Like buying PC Hardware from Alienware for low prices in return some adverts on the homepage and a % of missing loot return is taken to finance the initial buy? So all players pay the hardware retail of the company and some will be the lucky winners? Has anyone noticed lower loot return inside that period when it took place or something? I would under view of the system so far not worry or care about finding a SOOTO then but keep playing inside economy and when it drops it drops. The discoveries found since the VU give out a message on the global chat whats always exciting. Gives you a reason to get the eyebrowns up in that particular moment. What happens if a SOOTO takes place and an item which has been found before is found that way? Is there a message again that a SOOTO took place or does it happen in silence? I suppose it must be in silence as there is no section on the HOF-List for SOOTOs. A possible suggestion could be to implement a SOOTO section on the HOF-List to show the finds which take place. Im quite sure that this would give more confidence in the system that SOOTOs actually drop. On the other side it would give a possibility to keep track of the number of items existing and would take out a chance for a SOOTO finder to sell an item for higher markup from someone who speculates on the sale as all would know what is a SOOTO item but common not rare. "I bought an SOOTO armor part for +4000 peds today" "What did you do? that drops every day on Arkadia" Are we as a community able to derive something out of facts for ourselves? What do you prefer inside the SOOTO System and what would you maybe even expect from the SOOTO System? greets, Solo
I don't know how the Alienware event linked to SOOTO. But it's not accurate to link it to decreased returns. Ark PP has a marketing agreement with Alienware. Alienware gets advertising, PP gets cool stuff to give away. They are not able to adjust loot returns as part of that agreement,
Any time you find a SOOTO, you get a message in your chat that says, "You have found something out of the ordinary", even if it's not a discovery. At least that's what I understand... I've never actually found one myself. Since SOOTOs have only been on Arkadia a few days now, you might want to search the other forums, particular PCF. Below is a link to a poll I found over there and you can see that in 2010, there was a broad range of answers to "how many probes do you have to drop", with the largest fraction saying "more than 10k drops", but nearly as many saying "under 500". http://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?186355-On-what-bomb-probe-do-you-get-SOOTO In other words, it's hard to pin down the drop rate because the variance is so high. It's like asking how many unamped drops until you get a global? Sometimes 10, sometimes 1000. Of course, that poll doesn't really tell us if the drop rate on Calypso has changed since then or if their rate even applies to treasure hunting on Arkadia. Still, a useful thread... I think it's hard to estimate the drop rate until you've found half a dozen SOOTOs on your own.
Hey Alex, As part of our agreement with Alienware, all the Alienware items are given away free during the events to our players by means of their normal hunting and mining activities. All these items have been kindly sponsored by Alienware. They are included as free bonus items and should not be included in your calculation to determine TT profit or loss as part of the normal loot system nor is it related/linked to the diminished loot return that you were asking. It is more of an extra bonus from us to reward you for participating in hunting and mining activities on Arkadia as you can see from the thread here. We also had an Alienware competition for crafters here previously. Hope this clarifies.
I found these yesterday...I have not cycled nearly the amount of probes as others have...so not really sure on the SOOTO theories...but I was happy about these: View attachment 4242 View attachment 4243
