Hello Fellow Arkadians, To paraphrase Robert Burns, "The best laid plans of mice and men, often go awry." There had been a few small changes to Sanctuary Cove which were in discussion, however the timing of implementing these changes has caught a number of people by surprise, me included. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a very disrupted transition, as well as a number of changes I myself was not expecting. However, we have arrived at where we are, so we will do our best to make the most of the situation. For general information: Kadra (small) are now located on Cyclone Point (North West Corner) Kadra (Large) are now located on Thunder Hills (North, West/Centre) Huon (small) are now located on Storm's Keep (North East Corner) Huon (Large) are now located on Thunder Ridge (North, East/Centre) The spawn densities and maturities may require some adjustment over time, so please remain patient while we get that sorted out. Also, you will be happy to know that tax has now been dropped from 5% to 4% across the entire Land Area. While that will be great news for most of you, there is some bad news. The Kadra MASSACRE and Huon MASSACRE events will be concluding at the end of April. However, there is a new range of events planned to kick off for Sanctuary Cove starting in May, so please look out for threads and in game advertisements for those. For those of you currently grinding towards the MASSACRE events, prizes this month will be pro-rata, to make up for the days there were no mobs on Sanctuary Cove. The IFN Challenge event is unaffected and remains. Thank you everyone for your patience. Hawkwing
Pro-rata means in proportion to. As an example (because i don't know how long mobs actually absent or how many days in a month). If: the month is 30 days long mobs absent for 5 days monthly target is 50 globals Then pro-rata target is 50*(25/30) = 41.7 globals.
Last night was my first trip to Sanctuary Cove since the update and I was shocked. Two empty parts of the LA and I just wonder where the Tiarak went to. Always liked grinding those up there and wish they could make a comeback. Any clues to what you might be looking for to complete this zone? or is this what the Korwil bounty was for?
Hello Fellow Arkadians, April draws closer to an end and as you may have noticed, I have not been able to give you all anything definitive regarding events on Sanctuary Cove. However, I can give you a few updates at this point in time to build on my previous post above. Kadra (small) on Cyclone Point have had their density increased. Kadra (large) on Thunder Hills have had their density increased. Huon (small) on Storm's Keep have had their density increased. Huon (large) on Thunder Ridge have had their density increased. Tiarak have returned to Sanctuary Cove, they can be found on Sanctuary Shores. At this point they are low maturity, however that may change depending on how well they are supported/ignored in their current format. (Feedback appreciated). As above, the Huon and Kadra MASSACRE events will conclude end of April. These will be replaced with similar (but different) events. The IFN Challenge Bounty will remain, but with an increased prize. Three new events will be launched in May, for Tiarak, Miners and for plain Random Luck. Watch out for new threads tomorrow. Tax will remain at 4% across the entire Land Area (It used to be 5%) I hope that it is obvious to everyone that a reduction in tax from 5% to 4% means an instant and immediate 20% reduction to Sanctuary Cove's cash flow. Additionally, there have been some changes in expenses as well, which further decreases Sanctuary Cove's cash flow. As such, the prizes for certain events will be greatly reduced. I am fully aware this will disappoint quite a few people and that many of those people may choose to leave Sanctuary Cove. If those people do choose to leave, then I would like to thank them for supporting Sanctuary Cove while they were here and wish them well. I would also like everyone to know that I will offer what prizes I can reasonably give under these changed conditions which have unexpectedly come into being. Thank you everyone for your patience. Hawkwing
can you tell us little bit more about the reason for this changes? for me it looks like just one more of mindark's feature downgrades or devaluation of existing things: o) first there were 12 different areas iirc, now only 4 anymore o) before hunters were able to choose 3 different maturity settings for kadra and huon (low-med-high), now it's only 2 anymore (low-high) o) same with tiarak, there were separate spawns for high and low maturity. why did they both have to go? o) what about the high maturity jori, for the fucking fucks sake of it? noone knows, noone cares? o) what about all the miners? there was alot of space before without any mob for peaceful mining pleasure (i don't mine tho) overall this has a very bitter taste for me, as the massacre events run out, future event prices will be reduced, and so on. cherry on the top is the removal of a clean, dense high maturity spawn of my alltime favorite texture mob, namely tiarak. i'm quite sure that the area turnover will reduce because of the very limited remaining choices for hunters. i mean, the reduced tax is very welcome, but considering all those things that change to the worse, i would rather prefer to have everything back as it was before. who asked for all this changes, was it you? i hope you're happy now anyways - i'm not! sorry for bitching around...
Hi, Due to the nature of Sanctuary Cove, being an existing Land Area at planet launch, there are additional conditions that are not typically to a standard land area. Some examples of this have already been published elsewhere on this forum, including no control over tax, spawn density, spawn maturity, release of apartment and shop deeds etc. To answer your question, no, I did not request any of the changes, I was quite happy with how things were. Most of the changes were unexpected for me too, like the rest of you. Regardless though, there is nothing I can do about it, so I must accept it for what it is and attempt to keep Sanctuary Cove a good a place to hunt as possible and a great community to be a part of. Huon's are still my favorite mob, I have to be plated when hunting them in my viceroy, but they have been good to me. when I am back on ark, I will be working on my huon missions again. keep up the great work on an amazing Land Area.
