Questions on use of the in-game Ad Boards

I've never used the in-game advertising and I just wanted to clarify a couple of things. Don't think I have seen a relevant how-to on any of the forums?

Q: is it just text only? I couldn't see anyway of loading a picture (participant content). There are options for background images but nothing to choose from.

Q: If I load an ad at one board does it appear at all, or do I need to think about the location I advertise from? The interface help mentioned being able to add peds to increase probabilty of display but it wasnt really clear what it meant.

I've just started using them but I'll share what I've learned so far. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Not sure about graphics... i haven't tried using them yet.

The ad appears at all boards on the planet, and as I understand it... the amount you pay per day will determine how frequently your ad is displayed. If you choose 1 day for 30 ped, your ad will display 30x more often than someone who chose 30 days and 30 ped. If you choose 1 day for 60 ped, your ad will show 2x more than someone who paid 1 day and 30 ped. I'm guessing on the ratios, and how often your ad shows also depends on how many other ads there are to display.

I listed one ad for 7 days and one for 1 day (30 ped each). The one for 7 days shows up, but not as frequently as the 1 day ad. I haven't counted, but it could be 7x less.

 

I'm almost sure "back in the day" we could use PC material on them, but that's been gone for long now but hopefully return.

And you should have some pics to choose between but it's been buggy at Caly lately(months), and the pictures is old school Caly pics with a few graphic ones. So I'm not sure if the A-team disabled the pictures or if it's just buggy, but I made them aware that the pictures used in the system are Caly specific and to me would look bad at Arkadia so hopefully we get some cool Arkadia backgrounds instead

Sometimes bad rubbish is better than no rubbish all. I often say this as I look around my house.

 

PC materials never been available but there was backgrounds which seems to not be working

 

One thing I noted as well, not having used the old Caly system in ages, is that it used to be available only to estate deed holders. I saw no mention of that anywhere, so am curious if it is now open to all, which is as it should be imo. Agree as well we need nice backgrounds, from ATeam and hopefully PC as well, but agree with Kikki, very good it is actually here now for Ark.
