My aim is to get that Dropship by wiping out as many Orotan Prospectors as necessary (looks like a journey of one year :( ) with a minor task - learning how to craft. It is important to do this to protect my sanity.

Of course things are never straightforward - to be able to craft efficiently one of the things needed is Blueprint Comprehension, that can be obtained by repairing a Mother Ship - that requires exposure to space, that requires a supply of oil.
Step one; The Ark Drilling Rig - that is a story in itself and I have posted some of my experiences already; it is an experience to meet the community at the Rig. Suffice to say that Arkadia is more civilized than Calypso (Rocktopia has Oil but did not get to experience it yet ).

Step two; Crewing on a MS, that will certainly crank op skills and attributes - but it will expose one to the Space Opera with Space Pirates - walk into that with your eyes open.

Step three; crafting missions on Calypso & Monria - it is a real pity Arkadia has none :(
this can be problematic - either buy or loot the raw materials on each planet, or take them through space itself; by MS where you pay and have to fit in with the MS schedule. Or take them yourself and run the risk of pirates (one scumbag streams his space conquests on Caly forums) - all pirates do is poke about in space so believe me they will be more skilled than you, you encounter them, unless you can get to a non PvP zone you are dead & looted. (I have two weapons on my Quad & keep it fully repaired - not to fight, but hopefully to make it that harder to be destroyed through a higher Structural Integrity.

Step four; What I am up to, well somehow in getting from A to B I visited Rocktopia - There I had fun picking Motorhead Beer Kegs, that was real fun - they spawn rapidly but only one or two at a time. There I looted cool Special Ops arm Guards. They are L but look cool. On Monria I looted a Martial Harness (also L) another really cool armour - but geez expensive :( but check my pic I have most of the set - to expensive to wear out, but really cool to pose around it :D

On Rocktopia there are these Vixen robots, apparently they can be tamed but cannot be spawned on other planets - what a pity :( They are too highly sexualised I guess.

I ended up on Toulan, all planets are so different - if you like Arabian Nights this I the place for you.
I had fun picking up Nawa drops - a sort of Arabian Nights version of oil, apparently there are lots of east European players there - and talk of a Russian Mafia setting out to control the picking of these - I don't know, had no problems.
Anyway am back on Monria - it has a huge advantage, you can TP there to Caly - so when I have depod enough to pay the TP fee, I can take all my loot there (so up yours pirates), do the daily crafting mission, then pick up the Varyag when it visits & then back finally to Ark \o/

Here is me in my Martial Armour ( what I have of it, the rest is my Mah'ketta) eventually I will have a full set - cool hey :)

I like your writings Louise, gives me a perspective from another player doing things I don't do myself. I was wondering, why don't you start a blog/log of your own like San or I do?

you don't actually need to have BPC to craft efficiently - you just need to have maxed the BP that you are planning on using. BPC is just a contributory skill. Getting it just means that you will skill up a bit faster in the professions that it contributes to. It does NOT mean that you'll understand BP's better - despite the name :)

The main problem with a crafting mission like on monria is there is no gain to arkadia as a planet and the skills given actually cost the Arkadia team. The original idea with that crafting mission on monria was it would force people to buy mats or mine for it. (lysterium and oil was the cheapest route) Now that explosives are used for that daily mission, it costs the monria team to pay out the reward with nothing to justify it. I would take advantage of it now before it is removed or changed.

While I like to post here (I especially enjoyed the story telling comp that Wauspaus organised, I would have written my story differently now)
I do worry that I may come across as boring to others, so thank you Lizzy for your nice comment :)

I don't think I have the dedication/skill to organise a blog like you an San do - but from time to time things come to my attention that I feel I should comment on.
I have done some task and at the end of it I have got that "I wish I knew then what I know now" feeling , so I have posted my experiences - things I felt could assist players coming across that situation - I know I am not alone in this, its a common thing for people to share experiences to help others.

Its funny, I do things here I would never do in RL - I confess I came across a player AFK in a PvP zone - I took an irrational dislike to him, his av & achievements so I cut his throat (how do YOU like THAT killer?) - in retrospect a sad (even though somewhat satisfying thing).

AE really is a second life for me - I squeeze it in where work, sport & RL socialisation lets me & I find it relaxing & destressing (thou I dial my IQ down & don't keep records of how I am going, just rely on fun/and or vengeance (yes I have Scots & maybe Sicilian blood- I am at ease with the concept of vendetta). And, I know that generally my RL attitudes political etc do bleed thru to here.

I pay for my coffee. going to the movies etc - things I enjoy so I am happy to pay MA for my enjoyment there - of course they aren't a charity serving me for free - BUT there is a caveat on this - refer later.

One thing I do find distressing is the concept of pets here. Listening to "Old Shep" even now brings me to tears - so while I have no problems sending human pixels to oblivion - I balk at melting down pet pixels down to animal oils at the end of their efaithful elife.
I does not make sense, but there it is - I have a menagarie of pets I obtained in boxes but don't know how to ehumanely dispose of :(

Back to the money side of things - EU is a game where peds equate to RL money - money I contribute is mine to allocate as wisely or as stupidly as I wish - I take a real exception to others wanting some of it.
So beggars, scammers, pirates, and sanctimonious hypocrites pirating while pretending they don't I have contempt for.

I came across one of each of the last two yesterday - dropping down from Varyag to Ark I realised pretty quickly I had a pirate chasing me down. Was told later that this dirtbag had a UL Quad which is faster than my L one - flat out towards Ark tossing myself all over the place, I drew things out & made him spend extra peds to kill me - he looted me for some scraps of shrap I still had in inventory.
No doubt it was a satisfying experience for him - even if it cost him.
It cost me some peds in plundered inventory & unrepairable damage to my quad & attachments SI.

But it got me thinking - who else is this costing, Qster mentioned the crafting missions on Monria, a service/inducement that costs Monria's admin. I would love to move materials to Monria - or between planets. Something that is restricted by Pirate activity.
    I guess even parasites have
a role, so I guess their equivalents (you know who) have a place here.

Oh yes, I repaired my quad (another cost) and set off again Ark SS to Ark - "come on pirate" I hoped, "attack me again, I certainly will report you" no chance I was told by others later - he is too clever.
But the second time I set off I was chased by a player who owns a MS and has such a lot to say about pirates - she got to me just as I entered planetary space so her shots had no effect. We appeared over Ark together - what I should have done was ram her ship, I will next time I see her - sanctimonious hypocrite she is.

A text wall boring as hell :(

Are you quite sure that she fired on you and was not just going back to Ark like you were?
