So ... felt bored and thought to give the oratan spwawns another try ...

Did a couple of locations, with modest results, then came to the one @184,145 - Oratan Slasher level 3

Thought "great", no agro, no other mobs as is in the middle of an halix spawn ... so started it. Mobs are slashers of mid-high lvl - nothing too hard for Boar+5B :p but still taking some time to kill - returns not great at all. Boss is a lvl 34 lancer that takes a lot of ammo + fap to kill, like ~30 ped ammo. Return ? less than 10 ped

Thought I was unlucky, so did the spawn again, and again, and again ... each and every time loot from boss was bellow 10 ped TT  ... then I realised maybe that's why I've seen almost no globs on lancers in chat in the last weeks ;)

Just wondering if others could share their oratan spawn experience ... hope this ain't now like instances in terms of loot returns :(

Maybe the lancer is just like any other mob... have to kill a bunch to get a good chance at having a big loot.

I did a few waves some weeks ago but stopped cos I had to save peds for the auctions and then my laptop started dying. I had ups and downs just like any mob. Some globals on the lancers including armour parts (armour is good if you can use it but otherwise can be hard to sell for MU). Also had a couple of really crappy loots on them. So is probably best to think of them as similar to any other high hp mob.

I plan to do some more now I have a working machine, just as soon as I catch up on my crafting backlog.

    Regards,

I have not tried the oratan waves yet just to dang busy with other things, wof, disciples, piloting etc, maybe get a chance after merry mayhem I'll find some time with these waves.

But your story sounds like my experience with the Daikiba/Shinkiba waves on Calypso, the boss's have never dropped crap for me, I had better luck with globals on mobs getting to the boss then with the Daikiba/Shinkiba bosses. The Saba wave on Calypso however has given me a few globals, boring to do but best return I seen on waves and mostly from boss mob. I have not been on any of the other bigger waves as I never seem to be able to play same time as people that do those and I can't do them alone or with my friends and get to the final stages to spawnt he boss.

Just did 2 waves, 1st one was pretty bad loot, another one gave 1 global (not on the boss) + lots of armor parts.
Guess i was lucky, final score: ~150 ped profit.

Encouraged by Fifth's luck and nice pics :p set out to make a little experiment ...

Took 500 ped ammo for my X1+Dante and ran 10 !!! wave events in a row ... that's how long my ammo lasted :D

Now, the L34 Oratan Lancer Villian Boss is a 6K+ HP mob that takes about 25 ped ammo for me to kill...

Not even ONE of the TEN bossess gave more than 10 ped return in loot !!! Not even ONE !!!
Varied between 2 !!! and 9.84 ped TT loot return :soangry:

To those saying 10 is a too small sample I can only invite u to make it urself :p ... Overall loot return was ~85% TT as one slasher globed for 133 and had 2 minis on the surrounding halix ;), but refering to bosses alone this doesn't seem right :(

A-Team, maybe u should look into Lancer's loot tables or whatever options u can set, cause this seems wrong. If is the intended behaviour - fine, but then I fail to understand the effort put in designing them and wave events, as almost no one will do them due to such returns :(

I have gone over the Lancer parameters and everything seems in order for them on our side. This might be a case of the loot pool growing slow on them due to low amounts of them being killed. I have also forwarded it on to MA to take a look for us. On a separate note there will be some adjustments to the lancer HP (decrease) with the upcoming update to make them a more balanced mob.

Please excuse my need to overinterpret but I just read you asserting that there is an individual loot pool for a mob (not just a loot type table). Did I read you right?

Highly appreciate the promptitude of you answer and actions.
I will give it another try - just for fun ... 2-3 waves. If your suspicion is right, then I believe this kind of mobs should fall under a different category than regular ones, as it takes ~20mins to spawn one and no body will bother killing 100 of them just to get to some decent loot.
However, i'm not looking for globas or exquisite loot - my concern was more related to the return / cost to kill, which at 40% or bellow seems unreasonably low for any mob - maybe I was just drawing the short straw :) ... who knows.

Thanks also for the news regarding future updates - a welcomed change in my view ;)

    So ... the post I hoped I don't have to make :(

As I said, gave it another try. Entropedia says the Lancer Villain boss mob has 6,800 HP. At what's considered to be the eco treshold of 3 dpp it means 22,67 PED ammo to kill. My setup does 2.864 dpp according entropedia (altough I suspect MA played with MISS rate recently and that dpp is actually lower now) meaning 23.74 PED ammo to kill. So, at a 24 ped TT loot on a boss mob (considered bellow as 100%) I'd be satisfied :D

Went in, same setup, same place, ... and that's what I got :
    View attachment 6156
1st event : 16.51 TT return (69%)... compared to my previous 10 attempts was great ;)
    View attachment 6157
    2nd event : 7.70 TT return (32%) ... this I've seen before :(
    View attachment 6158
3rd event : 14.39 TT return (60%) ... hmm, better than yesterday but still ... was slower this time with print screen, so trust my word that's the boss mob loot :p
    View attachment 6159
    4th event : 14.07 TT return (59%) ... ok,ok, don't go back down on me now :)
    View attachment 6160
    5th event : 18.46 TT return (77%) .... c'moon, u can do it :p
    View attachment 6161
6th event : 19.56 TT return (82%) ... in this rythm I'll get to old age before seeing 100%

That's the point where I gave up ... bored to hell of this event experiment :D I admit result on the boss mobs are better than the day before, but on the other hand the loot on the wave mobs was quite bad, bad as in 68% return on TT at the end :( ... maybe that explains the slightly better loot on bosses ?

However, over those 6 boss mobs documented above, return average on cost to kill is 63% !!! ... that's ignoring the loot it self is rubish and clearly TT food - for that kind of loot I can hunt much lesser lvl mobs for much less cost as well :D

Now, do explain me why should I do Lancer events ? Why can't I simply hunt oratans on regular spawns considering such return on bosses ? Sure, maybe 1 in a million get's a nice HOFF, but is that one or the rest 999,999 that's paying your bills ??? ... I'm not complaining about not getting nice loot, I'm crying about not even ONCE in 16 !!! damn bosses getting more than 82% return on cost to kill!!! ... so yes, i do believe there's something wrong with this wave events and you should at least try to change it - that's if you want people to use your designs, of course :D

Kill a dozen levi provs without a global and results would be similar. If there was a standard spawn of lancers and you went hunting with 1kped ammo I'm guessing you'd see normal results, it's just that you can only kill 1 at a time at the end of the event.

Yup, fully agree to your comment. But the fact that there IS NO regular lancer spawn and this is considered as an event mob is what bothers me in its returns :(
And, the artwork they put into this mob is quite awesome imho and is a pity players won't enjoy it ... with instances we still have the hope of Arkoin brokers coming alive :) ... but with wave events I see no hope unless they change something ;)

Today was thinking I'd like to try some waves again. Has anyone done these recently? Any change in loot returns? 60% loot might be typical on a hunt without any globals but it doesn't make much sense for wave spawns. It just takes too much time to do 200 wave spawns to get the big loots that average out the returns.

Have no idea how the loot balancing actually works but Lancer seems to be a typical gamble mob, like Levi - with a few tries you normally get nothing, unless u extremely lucky.

OK, there's a rumor they supposed to drop UL stuff(?)
IF this is true, IF there's even a slim chance it might be worth trying. This ofc means u have to have a serious budget and u can afford to keep going for a long time with very bad returns.

If we could we have some official info about the UL item loot on Lancers, this might actually save them.. ;)

The unL plasma crossbows drop from the lancers. Only weapon that I know they drop.
