Audio is always important to any gaming experience. Background tunes can add to the mood. They can also make u nuts, a few houndred hours of that "ultimate gangster" song would possibly make Mother Theresa become one. I, as basically all I know, play our own tunes (if we play any music) while in Entropia. Two suggestions here for something to add to ye EU playlist 1. Yael Naïm - "New Soul" 2. Frou Frou (yes, that version) - "Holding out for a hero" Anyone care to suggest additions to this? best, eras
I would love to have some SCI-FI sounds... To me it adds to the sci-fi atmosphere that I think this planet is leaning towards.. But yeah I would like to see more of a regular change once in a while or even add our own music to the setting while still having the sound effects of the game.
Heh introduce some futureistic MP3 player that allows you to play your own music from your own collection (not able to share or trade the musics for obvious reasons) sorta like an Arkadian winamp. I am an ameature musician but I gotta say game music pretty much sux as most of it is just random clips slapped together from tracks written with a midi keybd and crappy sound banks. No one uses live instruments and 30 to 60 second loops will drive ya bonkers after the first two sessions of play.
I actually like most of the music in EU and have all the tracks in I Tunes also and think that them sticking to one composer has created a very good soundscape for the world. The landscape and scenery and skies, plant life and topography of Calypso is the best part of the game and the music (to me) really has a nice electronic touch but sometimes the track rotation leaves a lot to be desired. I do take your point on 'Ultimate Gangster' though but at least it wasn't as horrendous as 'gamer chick' ..!! ** One thing I really DON't want to see happen is importing branded 'pop' or 'rock' songs which would turn the world into a 1st Life commercial.. I hate that in movies and adverts where they re-use chart songs in this manner. I would love to see one world like Arkadia make the jump to bring in a really talented electronic/songsmith name like Vangelis or David Sylvian but that is very unlikely but I do think it should be suitably sci fi and futuristic. I would love to see some of the Thai/Japan/South East Asia themes that the designer talks about being reflected in some eastern influences in the music soundscape with dark and brooding atmospherics also.. **whatever you do don't let wotsisname do another record on Arkadia...don't think my ears will survive..
no idea how much he takes, but if you can afford it contract Inon Zur. the man is a god for making the dragon age soundtrack. it has joined the music I regularly listen to he's got lot's of experience with game soundtracks too. here's a short documentary bioware made on the soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3EUhYk_Uk4
Music is very personal, what you like to hear ingame can drive me nuts and the other way around. Also music is very atmosphere dependant, take movies as example. Or actually music is creating atmosphere. Personally I like how it is now, you can turn off the music ingame and play your own in the background. I don't see any use in making a mp3 player or something in the game while you can use your own. It will only add to the bug's and lag. Regards, Ion
