MindArk is hosting a special testing workshop at its offices in Gothenburg, Sweden on October 12, 2018. The purpose of the test is to gain valuable feedback from both new and veteran Entropians to put the final touches on the new camera system. The workshop will include a tour of the MindArk offices and a complimentary lunch with several MindArk staff. Selected participants will also be reimbursed for one night hotel accommodation in Gothenburg (up to 1500 SEK). Interested parties should complete the following application before September 16th, 2018. Reading between the lines this is probably their VR implementation, I know Mindark is weird but having a test workshop for any other camera change would be silly.
Mindark seems to dabble in some wierd stuff sometimes. I don't know how this would integrate with VR since typically you're going to need a headset for that. I'm guessing something more like a motion tracking or, more useful for EU an eye-tracking cam... I suppose some camera could be used to create better avatar representation or something in VR? Like for capturing postures or gestures in a "social" mode of some kind, it would be wasted hunting/mining. Also Ludvig|Mindark says To give some more details on this camera system, it has to do with the controls for third person, first person aim mode, and the cursor mode. It is designed to make gameplay smoother and more immersive. I guess that's what has me thinking of eye tracking.
I assumed it meant that there will be more automated camera perspective changes based on what's going on around you. Like the camera zooming out when you global, but obviously more routine occurrences than that.
Had not seen that, thanks for the clarification. Mindark just changing thing to change them again, like the UI, man they love to change that but only partially, some of those textures go back to PE. I just hope these changes don't alienate things too much for those like me who are used to being able to do things such as pulling off links and the like. I just wish MA would focus on the things that need to be addressed first, this is about as needed as the Gangnam dance.
