Well it looks like the Mindark Financial Report is now up on the website http://www.mindark.com/investor-relations/financial-reports/documents/ANNUAL_REPORT_MindArk_2014.pdf Note 16 Long-term liabilities - Interesting Group and Parent Company The long-term liability refers to Planet Arkadia's marketing fund. Part of the revenue received from Arkadia Underground Deeds has been reserved by MindArk and will be used for marketing campaigns. Arkadia Marketing Reserve
639553 SEK converts to 76318.05 USD at the current exchange rate. The question now is, what percentage does MindArk get from the sales of the AUDs?
I think this money is not from deed sales, but the payouts from unsold deeds. David did say that they were going to be used for marketing. Of course, it's difficult to prove either way unless we know the number of deeds sold. EDIT: On secound thought, if these were just the payouts, that would mean only ~10% of the deeds were sold... (assuming none of this money was spent yet)
Eh, long-term liability, Arkadia Marketing Reserve? I'm slightly confused: why are those AUD finances on the MA report in the first place? Why does MA reserve AUD revenue for marketing: they are not the ones doing the AU marketing (I hope)? What am I missing? Btw, also interesting that PCF is now owned by MA.
I find it interesting that they have to announce how many women they have on their staff. With such low number I would expect them to keep the number to themselves. Three is not something to brag about.
With all fairness, that is just a stupid statistic to have. I am so tired of all the pseudofeminism going on. What is important, is an employe's competence, not his or her gender. In game development, for obvious reasons, you'll have a hard time going 50/50 without discriminating.
There are often legislative requirements around including such details in annual financial statements. It's got nothing to do with feminism.
May or may not. I was merely pointing out that an even distribution of male/female employees is not always the most equal, as Wournos pointed out the lack of female employees.
I would guess that MA is gathering the AUD payouts in a separate pool much like players have in the financial centers or whatever it's called, can never remember, until Ark decides to transfer them into their account or something like that.
To clear things up a bit. 100% of the payouts from unsold deeds go to marketing, that is not shown in the report. A sizable portion of the sale of deeds is earmarked for marketing, MA's portion is shown in the report. MA and Arkadia split the sale proceeds 50/50. So whenever you spend time in the Underground or purchase AUD's you are boosting our marketing activities and helping to grow the planet (and by default helping to grow the future earnings of the deeds).
