Greetings, Truth is that I fall in love with EU and Arkadia ever since I start playing... and I knew from my first days here that I'm totally sold to the game... but today, while playing with my doggies in the yard and enjoying a really nice shiny spring day... I found the time to think at the reasons "why"... So... let's see why ME + EU + ARK = LOVE 1. I love the fact that while there are tons of things one can do in Entropia Universe, there's nothing that you really have to do, so you can forge your own destiny in a way that best suits you. 2. I love the fact that there's nothing handed to you on a silver plate, but you have to work your a$$ off for each and every achievement, so when you achieve something it will feel real. 3. I love the fact that all time and money (well, in my case only time ) spent here can be considered as invested, not only wasted, since all our assets and even character skills have a RL$ equivalent. Yeah, I don't intend to ever cash out, but is still nice to know that if the day when I'll want to move on will come, I'll get something back from my time and money investment. 4. I love the fact that we have planet partners which implement different background stories, game play strategies, etc, so you have even more options to choose from, which creates competition between them, because each one knows we could vote with our wallet and move our business somewhere else if they would start behaving bad. 5. I love the fact that Arkadia has a great DEV team (and I have to mention here Snape, Lars and Liviu especially) who genuinely care about us at a level I never encountered in any other game. I am used from all games I played to get pretty much predefined answers and diplomatic excuses (you know - MA style ) - well, that never happened on Arkadia... when I needed help, I got all the help I needed, even if that presumed once that someone wasted a few hours to help me or some other time that up to three devs logged and came to assist with my issue. Should I also mention that once when I was complaining on chat about headaches, Lars stepped up and recommended me some solutions? 6. I love the fact that Arkadia has some great advisers and some equally great players. If in most games I played far now I had to worry about bad guys scamming and conning me, here the only worry I had was how to avoid the nice people that were trying to con me into helping me when I was saying initially "no, thank you" to the direct offer. Yeah, I was not handed out freebies directly (actually I lie, I was offered that too, but not many times and I denied them anyway), but there were at least a dozen people (and I won't name them just because there are much more great people on here and I don't want to discriminate) that offered me really nice jobs or deals to allow me to survive and level up. 7. I love the fact that, in the vast majority, Arkadia players mind their own business and don't try to force you to play the game in a certain way or see a situation in a certain way; they offer their perspective, but let you make the final judgement. And that is something I have missed my whole live - not only in games, but also in real life. I don't know now if it's just not being judgmental or just enough maturity to know when to let things go, but the result is definitely one that I appreciate. 8. I love the fact that, in the vast majority of cases, any help or support was not conditioned by affiliation with a certain group, society, company, whatever. Again, in most games I saw a really ugly and fierce competitions, between individuals, between groups, and so on. Here, I really seen much less of this - everyone seem to be much nicer, mind their own business much more and not be envious or hateful towards other people without any reason. 9. I love the fact that there are quite a lot of player made actions... starting with the wonderful birthday of Jod which was like 8 hours of pure fun or his monthly screenshoot contests, going through the free PFEU hunts and the daily free SSI events, to finaly come to the quite often in-game events (HSL) - lots of things organized by players for players and where we have the chance to interact with other players. I might not always show enough of my appreciation for those (yeah, I'm a complainer, I always see the flaws and I lobby for having them fixed and always crave for more, for better), but deep inside me I sure do love and appreciate all of them them. So yeah... that's are (some of) the reasons why I love Entropia Universe, planet Arkadia and (almost) all of you - arkadians. What about you? What are the reasons why you love the game? What made you choose it from all other games out there and what makes you stick with it? I'd sure love hearing about your reasons.
Back when I joined the then Project Entropia I was a kid looking for a way to earn money in a world that doesn't exactly hire 13 year olds. I was drawn in by videos like this (most of the things promised in it have only happened in recent years, or we still dont have lol): Spoiler While I found monetary success elsewhere, I continued to stick around. The theming and exploration had really hooked me, to this day I still have a printed and laminated map of the old Eudoria that was hung on the wall beside my computer. I ran around like, all the time, and used to love exploring places like CND, CP. Hadeshim, and Zychion. While the Calypso I knew is sadly no longer (someone get on private server dev plz) thanks to a robot spacecraft that crash landed directly onto a big city no one ever went to (MA: Fix'd Hadeshim! =D), and the theming has changed, the exploration has only gotten better. With the list of planets ever growing, the addition of free roam space, and items you can take anywhere never loosing your progress, there's so much to see. Another reason I love Entropia is its a game of numbers and investments, ones I can work in my favor. Having to deposit is a very rare thing for me.
My story is simple. I used to play a different MMO up until 2012, enduring two years of developer capitalism that resulted in dumbing down the game completely, until I finally quit. I found a different MMO, a sandbox game with perma-death - meaning if you get killed you are dead! That adventure lasted roughly 3 months (kept waking up in panic and rushing to the computer to see if my hard work had been all for nothing - which one day came true). I started looking for other MMOs and came across EVE (never played) and somehow a banner ad for Calypso started to appear on every page I visited. I clicked it, read some and started playing. My initial 3 months was spent on Caly doing newbie missions and exploring (spent a whole week just running/swimming) but after enduring lots and lost of what I call arrogance and rudeness both from soc "mates" and the general public, and because a then friend had gone to Ark and kept spamming me how much profit he made on Caraboks I decided to go to Ark with a (nice) soc mate. Let's just say it was the best decision ever! I still ended up bored after yet another 2 months and stopped playing for 8 months. Came back, picked up and kept skilling the eco way. In December I learned that the Caly team still made money off of my adventures on Arkadia and not the A-team so I made the radical choice to start over with a brand new avatar (dumping the old one!). ...and here I am, a few profession levels lower than before but so much more happier. To say that the RCE aspect didn't intrigue me would be a lie but at the same time I never expected (and still don't) to cash out anything. It's a nice addition but not the reason I play. ...and yeah, Ark community is so much better than Caly's, even if it dwindles down to rude every once in a while.
It's nice to know that those banners have actually gotten a sign up, most of us that have seen them have been playing for years.
