I am wanting to expand my business, looking for a store or booth on Arkadia. PM me on forum with details & I hope we can do business! All offers considered. Thanks! **EDIT (Snape): Thread copied from the original in Buying section as it went OT but is in itself a good discussion**
I'm also looking for an affordable shop, but I think we'll be looking for a LONG time. They're only releasing more shops if the population increases, so the price will stay high... maybe even go higher. When I complained that shops are way too expensive, I was told: go buy a shop on another planet. It's truly a shame there aren't affordable shops on Ark.
I know shops and booths are expensive here, but as an owner and a crafter I have found they have been worth the price paid. It definitely gives me a competitive advantage when getting reasonable turnover. The two downsides being, you tie up a lot of ped in the deed and you risk a loss if there is a significant price drop later when the number of available deeds grows.
I think that 13 k is a good price for a shop especially on ark I paid more than that for my shop, but speaking of affordability what do you think a shop should cost? I own several places in RL and one thing you will find out about real-estate is its value is directly related to is location, I would not sell my shop for less than 15-20K. I however would have bought the booth in the quarry for advertisement signs but I know we are going to be getting an add board soon and thought hmmmm how much add time could 16-20K buy me lol. So I elected to save my ped. But I would really like to know what ppl think a shop should go for. Remember when you get a shop you are in fact trying to run a business and what business can you start with less than 1K?
There are many arguments why shops should not be available to players with lower budgets, but none of them impress me. Just because you have the peds to spend on a shop does not mean that your shop will be better than someone's who has only half your peds. Walk through the shops... all of them were expensive. Most of them (not all) contain only a few items, and most (not all) have items with exorbitant markups. We had this discussion before and shops are not vied as businesses by their owners. When faced with the economics of paying so much for a shop, they will admit they're just fun aspects of the game. People collect them because they can. Give me one good reason why the small time crafters should not have somewhere less expensive to sell their items? Even if it's only 50 item points and at a remote outpost. Prices? I think a good price for a 30 item booth would be 1.5k to 2k ped, a 60 item point shop 2-3k ped, 150 item full sized shop 5k ped.
Guys remember this is a BUYING thread, if you want to discuss what a shop should or shouldn't be worth start a price check thread to do that
Apologies to OP for the small diversion onto the general issue of Shop availability and cost but I do think it's an interesting discussion. Mods - might be worth pulling these posts out into a new thread? Neil I certainly wouldnt be trying to argue that lower budget players should not have access to shops. I do argue that a player with a sound business model can do well here and that the market reflects that, given the current supply of shops. I wouldnt be opposed to more shops being made available as long as it was done in over a period of time to avoid flooding the market. As to whether all the current shops are being effectively utilised well I agree some are only lightly stocked and may not be meeting the owners' needs. I see these as opportunities. If you know who the owners are, it's worth initiating a conversation to see whats going on. Perhaps they have plan to ramp back up or they may be looking to get out without losing too much on the original purchase. Perhaps some rental deal could be arranged, with you having access to some proportion of the shop points. Who knows? But the first step is communicate with them to understand their needs. That's how I picked up my defense shop in Celeste Harbour.
That reason keep me away to arkadia market and never gonna pay shop 10k ped. I understood that current shops owner don´t want to lose their invest value and defend current price. But until miracle happens i continue supply calypso players.
it’s like anything you do in the eu it take ped and yes somewant stupid mu on items like bps, weapons, armors and such but a shop you canmake money with its not a one shot deal it’s like a revolving door of customersand it might not be for all but the OP wanted to buy a shop and the only one I knowof for sell now is Yquem shop and that’s CN3 for i think 13K.
People, you were asked not to conduct a discussion in someone's Buying thread and to start a thread in the Price Check section to discuss the worth of shops on Ark. A few of you continued to do so after Jenny posted. Such posts were directly breaking Rule 5d: I have now copied the original thread to here so that the discussion (which is interesting I might add) can continue properly without people violating Forum Rules, but consider this an unofficial warning. Next time such actions will result in an Infraction Warning as per the new policy posted last week.
Well now that the booths can have more item points you're going to see a big increase in their prices too. I paid 9k for the #3 and I'm about to double its item points...
On the other hand I don't need to buy a second booth now... Time to start looking for more shopkeepers I guess.
