In case you haven't heard yet, the instance server can get overloaded with players. When that happens, and you go to enter a doorway, it will "eat" your key and throw an error. You won't enter the instance, but you will also LOSE your key. If you're inside, you may get booted out when the server overheats. You may shortly receive an automatic refund (for peds/ammo only), and if you don't, send a support case in right away. Right now it's evening at MA so they probably won't fix the issue for a while. In the mean time, I recommend playing the instances during off-peak hours if you can. They are really fun, suitable for newbies. Just remember that this is the first day of the release and there are a few bugs in there. So if you decide to go in, have some patience and remember that it's just Day 1, and report bugs here on the forum ASAP so that the A-team can get them fixed for next week's patch. I don't believe this is an A-team issue it sounds to me like MA has not allotted enough instances for Arkadia (just my speculation).
I ran 4 during the off-peak hours and they were super fun. I profited every run, too. Wasn't expecting that.
Another minor thought to add is maybe so many shouldn't just 'hang out' inside the entrance area to the doors. I have no idea (maybe Chris could tell us) if inside the RipCave is actually a different server from outside where the tp and command center are, but somehow it just makes sense that a group hanging out inside there but not actually in the instances will at the very least be adding to lag, which is never helpful. It's going to be a popular area to hang out for some time no doubt, the whole tp area too, but we sure don't need it to become another infamous busy laggy spot there.
I'm 99.5% positive the jump to server occurs when you use the key and enter the instance door, if that's true, then there's no problem hanging out in the RipCave. One thing I was thinking, and Chris also mentioned it to me... is that there might just be one server for all instances... Beacons, RT, Arkadia. The max number of avatars for a normal planet server is 500 avatars. I don't know if anyone reported problems with other planets' instances yesterday, but I think we could have had that many avatars doing instances on all planets.
I did 3 around 18-20MA Time yesterday while many ppl had problems - for me all was fine and lag was minimal.
I think the problem is they orginally designated lets say 100 players between 10+1 Instances maybe a server for each. so it would have been split up a lot more. But we only got 3 so it was 100 players split between just 3. I think we will have way less problems next week. But there should be for sure refunds.
Good point Neil, and if that is the case, yeah, VU day with new instances on other planets too, a bit busy!
Hello, good point. If that is the case then we know why the beacons on calypso are positioned all at different locations
