I received the email for this event in topic but I hadn't played in quite some time. It sparked my interest so I decided I'd give it a try. The event was overall very fun and was really cool to see such huge mobs spawning, some over level 200. I myself am only lvl 17 BLP Sniper damage and lvl 21 BLP sniper accuracy, so I do about 20-30 damage per shot with a Caly MKIV. There were around 20 to 30 people, give or take a few, during most of the event and we scored a ton of HOF's and globals. Problem being, one or two people get a nice item worth hundreds of PED, while the rest of us who can't do the big damage end up sharing the chump change scrap junk loot which, in the end, you end up losing a ton of PED by participating in the event! My main point is this. If you don't have the top of the line guns that do the top damage, it's not even worth your time to go participate because you will end up losing all your PED helping kill the mobs while the top damage doers get all the good loot. Until something is changed with loot distribution (Shared Loot), I won't be participating in any more events. Grats to all those big gunners who got all the good loot that doesn't get split up and us little guys end up losing all our money for you to get.
Anyone has a chance to get the "good loot". Relative newbie looting scanthi in the 2nd event is evidence of that. But am not convinced there was any of it so far this event. But I have still had fun getting in amongst the hoffing and chatting with folks. So far in this event I spent around 6k in ammo and over 1k in weapon and amp decay. And you think ur subsidising my returns? But I have a suggestion. If you are worried about not getting ur fair share of the boss mob loot, get together with a few of ur friends and go after the non boss mobs. Agree upfront what you will do about looted items, just like in a normal team. I got my best single loot today from an Oratan Miner. Or don't participate. Whatever works for you.
I believe it's the other way around. The high level players are actually paying a lot more to partcipate than the lower level players are. Now KikkiJikki seems to have some weird affinity for L blades, as he seems to get several each event. I have not looted a single item in the last three events. Not even an L blade. And I typically do 1/10 to 1/25 of the damage per mob. The shared loot model works very well for a good range of dps. If you're very low (TT weapons) you will probably get less than your share on the big mobs (these mobs are not designed for newbies). If anyone ought to complain, shared loot is unfair to the high level players who "ought" to get most of the items because they're bearing most of the cost and armor decay and spending a lot more than the low or medium level players who end up looting most of the items. The reason you are not looting items is not because the ubers are getting them, but because nobody is getting any. The problem is that there simply aren't enough items in the loot tables for these mobs (actually, I would argue all ark mobs have this problem). I'm not asking for more XP-1s, mod gyro faps, or Smugglers to drop (well, ok I admit I'll take one of each thx) but I'm asking for more items in the loot table that MA will allow to drop often. I would love ending the event with 3 flashlights, 2 grappling hooks for climbing, metabolic boosters and a parachute.
Maybe you are right, Neil. Maybe everyone was getting crap loot for what it cost for us to kill those big ass Oritans. One thing I will admit, they were pretty damn big! LOL I shouldn't have speculated exactly what loot items people were getting. I have no way to know obviously what other people get in their inventory. I also don't know exactly how many people were there, how many of the people there were shooting the mobs, or how much damage each person was doing. To me it just felt like I was missing out on my fair share of the loot, and that is still speculation at best. I just hope at least one player made out nicely off of the event.
There's talk of the system being changed on PCF where items are completely removed from big event mobs and replaced by combat tokens.
I assume combat tokens would be similar to arkoins. Stackables you loot which you redeem at an NPC broker for items. MA can then restrict the flow of the individual items in the broker and allow the tokens to drop more.
Well since we are assUmeing, I wonder if they just use Arkoins instead of those combat token thingies. If that's the plan.
Combat tokens are what used to be Mission Tokens in the past (green "blazar"-like thingies, now look like coins), they drop from bosses of all Caly waves (and apparently from event bosses soon, too) and there are indeed NPCs that trade them for L armors and weapons.
The Friday / Saturday morning start to the event was a lot worse loot than previous events *averaged*. The previous *average* was 33 globals per uber. This returned to near normal late Saturday and on into Sunday. As for the items dealy gig it's a bit different, some oldschool event items had insane TT, meaning when a 5-digit dropped it was *only one item and a few ped*. Stackables and Low-tt L/UL is the way forward, and even the Arkadian event mobs have a reasonable amount of the oils that carry markup like Brain / Spleen oil. Although this really promotes higher level crafting in Arkadia's territory If each and every one of the mobs dropped tokens........ ......................well if only.............. But hey, if Oils were available from the token guy, you'd......
