Just arrived on Planet Arkadia and I am looking forward to exploring and learning more about it. I am first though curious as to how Entropia collects a revenue to support its continued operation. I've not seen a system quite like this one before. See you on Arkadia -- Spin Spun Draft

Welcome to the game, Spindraft :)

The revenue comes from decay (of guns/armour/etc). General opinion is that loot returns (in TT terms - that's "trade terminal" values) are roughly equal to 90% of the cost of the run over the very long term. The difference may be bridged through MU (markup) which is what you can get over TT values from another player (via direct trade, shops, or the in game auction).

Returns are "lumpy" in that sometimes you might get 200% return and other times you might get 50% return. As I said, the long term average will be about 90%. Clearly Mindark (the makers) cannot give 100% or they'd go bust, but a smart player can make a living from this game (from the MU that others are willing to pay).

Howdy Spin. Welcome to Arkadia and EU.

Revenue is generated from decay, auction fees, and land sales. A more detailed model of the business model can be found at the Entropia Universe main site.

    Welcome Spin.

Arkadia makes their money off of people like me; impulse buyers. I had to have a jeep, I had to have a VTOL, I had to have a spacecraft, I had to have the blueprints for my BP books, I had to have the Mindcraft implant. ...it just goes on and on. I didn't really need none of that stuff but I'm happy with all my Inventory. now I need oil, materials and resources to enjoy them. I gotta have it.

the other way they make money is by selling you the probes and ammo. those cannot be crafted.

    Welcome!

    *cough*showoff*cough* :p

Actually, if I had the disposable income (meaning if I had fewer bills), I'd probably be doing the same thing. As things are, I'm exercising every single ounce of restraint I have not to go on a spending spree with the few PEDs my goddaughter got me as a Mother's Day gift so they'll last as long as they can. And it is hard, too!! I want an outfit aside from that ugly yellow starter! I want a cool vehicle!! But for now, I'm trying to stretch it out, only spending when I absolutely NEED to.
