Frankly, I don 't like PVP. I found it usually involves gank fests or usually has higher level characters killing lower level characters. There is very little honor fights in my experience.

Thus, how much PVP is involved in this game? Can I avoid it altogether?

on planet arkadia are no pvp areas yet, afaik. only rings in some towns where u can do some fun battles with ur friends.
however, all space surrounding the planets are lootable pvp. which means you can loose your materials and ressources to a pirate, but as a starting player better not hassle with space before you got the right perspective of whats necassary and whats not.

You can almost but not quite avoid pvp if that is your preference. Arkadia is almost entirely non-pvp - there is a fight ring in Celeste Harbour. Other planets have pvp zones some of which are lootable (if you are killed, you lose certain types of inventory contents to the killer) but you don't have to go in those zones.

However if you want to travel from one planet to another. You have to travel through lootable pvp Space. There is no choice unless you want to stay on the one planet. You can minimise the impact. You can travel on a ship with warp capability that gets from planet to planet very quickly and has lots of defenses if it is attacked. You can fly yourself but not take any inventory that is lootable - so if you do get shot down, you only incur some repairable damage to ur ship.

Lootable inventory includes stackables with the exception of:
    - peds
    - ammo
    - deeds
    - welding wire
    - enhancers

A stackable is an item that can be stacked in inventory (you can drop one on type of the other and a number shows how many are carried. So it doesnt include, weapons, armour, tools etc.
