I wasn't able to play a lot the past two weeks. I need to bring a ton of materials to Arkadia and would like to know, if there is already a safe way how this can be handled... and how much does it cost?

as far as i know it's not possible to safe travel yet,
safest way would be a unl quadfighter completely equipped imo.

or go at a time there is nobody around in space, non usa times :p

So far i have only been shot down once, and that was when exiting calypso space station to go to calypso.. I have had my fair share of space travels, and thats the only time ive gotten wasted / run into others.. I think its a matter of luck and of time of the day..

Edit: oh and im flying an itsy bitsy tiny Sleip mk1 unarmed.. :p

Fopsie, can you point to topics where MA says, it's not ok to do that?

The was a post where Kim from MA say'd it was not ok to do so.

But in the same post she sayd also something that was not appropriate and instead to adjust the post, it was deleted.

But I contact you when I am ingame and we will help you to move your stuff.
I keep it out of a public forum about how and when we do it for obvious reasons.
And yes, it is perfectly legal :)

    Regards,
    Ion

If I carry 20k of stackables this is not what I call safe :). So basically you say, there is no safe method to transfer ores and enmatters...

You add the pilot you trust in skype. You board the mothership with your stackables. You logg off. The pilot sends you a message in Skype when he arrived at the destination safely. You logg back in. Tada all your stackables are traded from one planet to another and noone ever had the chance to loot you since you where logged out in PVP zone.
Some ppl offer different services too but at the end of the day those are just an unnecessary risk if you have one pilot with Mothership+Skype you trust. When PKers complained about this earlier MindArk|Kim made a post saying it's not ok to do this. However it seems that was just done in the spur of the moment and got deleted later on. I guess Kim just wasn´t aware it was supposed to be like that since otherwise there would`ve been a rephrased post to clear things up and no delete.

I think to do so is not black or white, it is grey :)
The respawn on mothership after log off/login was build in for other reasons (disconnets, building a permanent crew in space etc....), but there is no way to control this, so MA will leave it as it is I think. Normaly, when we got another nerf from an update are always ppl around which are calling "adapt it ....". This time it goes the other direction :)

So, as long as no official statement about this, simply use it :)

Contact support they will give you the same answer kim gave and retracted making it an official statement.
Will you be procecuted for doing this? most likely not as there is no way for them to actualy track this atm.

And Xerox get your facts straight. It was mostly other traders and not PKers that complained about this because they have to risk the PKers while the MS guys does not have this risk.

You are right, maybe it is a bit shady to transport stuff this way, but unless nobody from MA says so in clear words as official statement like "don't do so, it is an exploit..." I don't look at it as an exploit. We can't compare this to other well known exploit (VTOL hunting, by example).

I am not at trader and never carrying stackables with me in space, but if I were one, I would have no problem to trade this way until an official from MA is calling "STOP".

If you stay logged in at all times during the transport then no there isn't a safe method which is exactly what MA wanted.

We'll see how long it stays that way though, I still believe they'll adjust it later.

Personally I think making space non-pvp but filling it with high agro space mobs would get more people using it but keep a good reason for the motherships / privateers while also giving them more buisness.

Final thought for you, the safest method atm is a get a quad wing and use that as a transporter, it's the fastest space vehicle and your only going to be caught by the UL version.

On EF kim said that their original idea was to put escape pods on the MS and then you get ejected if you go offline leaving you in space. Apparently the idea has not been scrapped they just had to get space out as soon as possible.

Here are the basic methods for safe transport (other than the mothership bug, which to me doesn't sound like an MA-approved method). The only times I've been attacked by pirates are when I'm just on taxi duty and don't bother to

    1) Stealth - leave Calypso when pirate activity is low. And by the way, leaving from PA or Twins at any time of day is NOT stealthy. :)

    2) Scouting and misdirection - Pirates can't hide, but they do lurk. Send out ships to find the pirates' locations around Calypso station and Arkadia. Have other ships run ahead of you and attract the attention of any pirates in the area, giving you warning to change course if they're attacked. Since you've posted your desire to transport a large quantity of goods, it could be helpful if the goods were NOT on your ship :). As was said, the area around Calypso station is where 90% of the pirates are.

    3) Brute Force - get a fleet together. We have more ships than the pirates. Remember, if the pirate manages to loot a ship, you can always loot it back.

If the peds were mine, I'd split them up and move them in smaller quantities, by stealth, using a friend or two to scout for me. But it would also be fun to get a fleet together and move them all at once.

Not necessarily, the laser has a pretty good range. If a quad is chasing a quad, it can shoot it down... just as it can't catch you, you can't outrun it either.

But yes, the UL quad should give you a small advantage.

yes, I remember seeing in the financial statement they were concentrating on revenue generating updates to increase their available cash and then space launched.

The pods are one idea but they should be able to be picked up motherships and privateers because we've all experienced disconnects in EU (some more than others) and finding yourself stranded on a station no one visits wouldn't be a nice experience.

But if anyone is serious about moving large quantities of stackables about then they've already bought a quadwing.
