ATTENTION NEW PLAYERS PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ ALL OF THIS IT WILL BE WORTH IT! I really think that one of the most important things for new players to have is the right attitude about "playing" this "game". Ask yourself why do I play most video games? Are you playing Mario Kart to make money? No, your playing to have fun. So just because you have the potential to make money here why change that? There is a lot more to this "game" then just hunting, mining, and crafting for a big loot. I think the best way to do this is truly treat this experience as you have actually landed on a real alien planet. There is so much to just exploring and learning about this new planet, and being part of the community. There is a lot to just being a contributor to exploring and finding of information. Also making new friends and working together to accomplish things. I've always thought myself that i dont play Entropia as much as live Entropia. This is part of why I decided to be a mentor and back then a society leader. Most of my time was spent meeting and talking, teaching, and organizing people. Back in 2004 me and some others had organized a whole group of societies that organized almost like a government back on Calypso. We Organized 4 societies and called it R.O.M.E. (Republic Of Modern Entropia). We had one society that was like the education system that taught new people, another was our Army of PK'rs and Hunters, one was miners and crafters, and one brought it all together by managing trading and keeping fair low prices between all members of this alliance. It was a lot of fun to organize and be a part of and it didn't cost anything to really do except time which is what playing games and having fun always cost you. There are lots of opportunities out there look the people who organize parties and social events, contest, and are radio DJ's. There are also people that make movies, provide news and information to all the wiki sites and make maps. You don't have to be high skilled and get big loot to be a well known respected player. Some of the people i respect most in this game are the people who develop the tools like Entropia Tracker and Skill Calculators and Inventory Calculators. So don't just play this "game" be a part of it. What loot and things you get will come and go but the memories of having fun and being part of the community that is truly exploring a new planet you will enjoy forever. p.s. The above is why I've kept playing and being part of this adventure since December 2003.
Best post I have read in a long time. So true, the most joy i get in this game is jumping in my vehicles and exploring the terrain, meeting & helping fellow players.
