Looking forward to it! Thanks!
I know I'll tune in
Don´t miss it ..it will be BIG ...
Toaday is the Day ...dont miss it Normandieradio.com
By all means post your questions here.
Please post the recording soon I slept through my alarm
I managed to catch the interview, but it wasn't advertised until only about 24 hours prior to it happening. Hardly enough time for people to find out about it and post questions. Was it something that was set-up/confirmed on such short notice that earlier word wasn't possible?
Due to me travelling I wasn't able to confirm a time earlier. The NR guys have advised a recording will be made available as soon as possible.
:hail:John itwasntme Remontoire was nice enough to summarize the interview on Caly Forums - This is much appreciated! :hail:
Stuff I wrote down from it (no guarantee of completeness, relevancy, etc) :
treasure maps will be used after VU
no comment on arkadia underground
VU still going ahead on 18th
<bunch of insight on dev & build process>
spaceport being considered, there is a concept, but work still happening. floating city.
aware of arkoin drop rates, no more comments
miners will find the vu interesting
melee amps are not caly exclusive, ark is working on it with caly & ma (but it did not sound to me like they would have own amps out on 18th...)
not happy with item drops from oratan events, has been communicated to ma in strongest terms
Ark put 6 months of development into game core in making oratan events and are still working on it, inc improving the back end management of it
planning to possibly do server restarts ~1 day before big events
two versions of vehicle coming, suborbital and orbital, first would come earlier and be ark version of helicopter dropships in game as models after vu
new ui - sound like this is really exciting, might not be 100% finished at launch.
David has a feeling that MA is paying more attention to forums and player feedback, but is worried that it will all be drowned out in overly large amounts of negativity.
user controlled mobs are tons of fun, sounds like it would be possible for players to do it, but rule-set is not in place atm. Possibly user vs user as mobs combat & events.
Taming talk doesn't sound like its not really close or done ...
utility taming - have a pet robot you can send and drill for you when mining
cute pets that follow you around ... also pet breeding
6 months to morphing, 6 months to utility mobs, maybe 6 more months to something more advanced. but speculation, esp timelines.
no plans for real life items in arkcoin broker for now. no plans to change arkoin broker items in this update, maybe next.
Thank You Isclay, that is helpful ffor those of us that where unable to tune in yesterday and don't go to that other forum. :hail:
LOL so did I!
Just heard the VU is delayed by at least a day.
Cute pets that follow you around? Yikes, that's one of the reasons I stopped playing WOW....very lame...
First of all congratulations to Isclay for a great interview and big thanks as well to Dave Dobson for agreeing to the interview in the first place. I am going to throw some observations into the this post, please feel free to agree or disagree or make comments of your own.
Interview was much more informative than the Bonnie / Kim interview last year, this seems to be because David thought about what he could / couldn't - would wouldn't say in advance. Kim was a lot more elusive in his answers than David was.
It appears that David being an ex-player himself has not lost touch with the player base and what they want from the game. I am looking forward to the additions that have been mentioned especially the new flying vehicles. I enjoyed the references to the continuing storyline and inference that it will be developed further, in contrast Caly seems to lack a strong back story, something that is certainly not the case on Arkadia.
I also enjoyed the insight into technical issues where it was mentioned for example that certain system problems are often difficult to track down, example being the effect that running sounds may have on stability. I think with a knowledge of why problems occur , it is easier for players to accept the bugs and be patient whilst they are fixed.
There was a lot of comment about game balancing which showed the constraints placed on planet partners when wanting to make changes. This seems obvious once the comment was made but it is important as it puts the PP position into perspective.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the interview and the child in background lent an air of realism and honesty to the proceedings, well done Dave and Isclay, I am now waiting intently for the update which I have just read is delayed a day
For all who missed it last night ..you can listen to the Interview on Normandieradio.com ...it is splitted in two parts so you can grab a beer in between
Thank you for the link Miss Milena.

It's very interesting to hear things viewed from the devs point of view.
Current information conveyed in a lovely accent = a pleasure to listen to.
Bring on the pokeballs.
It depends on how much use this will be to most players, if it turns into a niche thing any dev time will be a waste that could have been spent more wisely elsewhere - improving performance on the server and client sides for instance.
Hopefully MA can weed out the crap from forums as some of it may have led to things that personally I think were detrimental to EU rather than beneficial. Unfortunately some of the bad things had, at the time, a strong support until they were implemented for it to then evaporate a few months later.
Any new addition either needs to be added slowly so that players get used to it and for everyone to be involved in some part or it will be another new element that doesn't really fit and ends up lying on it's back stinking the place up.
Of course sometimes it works in our favour, if it weren't for the forum campaign by a few of us that started with the Deer Mall shops mess we'd all be paying maintenance fees on apartments and shops.
