ComPet Announcement Late in 2017, MindArk performed a major overhaul and update to ComPet with the goal of improving conversion and retention of new players. After this overhaul was implemented and refined, a comprehensive marketing campaign was initiated early in 2018. Analysis of that marketing campaign and the resulting conversion rates indicated that the current model was not sustainable. The marketing analysis was conducted by a leading mobile marketing firm. As such, the MindArk Board of Directors has decided to suspend any further development or marketing of ComPet, and is exploring options for potential development and/or publishing partnerships with established mobile game organizations. In order to minimize the impact of the decision to suspend development of ComPet, MindArk is offering ComPet Deed holders the ability to exchange ComPet Deeds for Arkadia Moon Deeds at a ratio of five ComPet Deeds for two Arkadia Moon Deed. The upcoming release will place two different NPC:s on Planet Calypso which will handle the transfer, one in Port Atlantis Mall Teleporter and one in Twin Peaks. The NPC:s will be available until December. Best regards, Henrik Nel CEO MindArk Continue reading...
Seems a bit strange that MA would only put the NPCs on Calypso and nothing on Arkadia but what do I know....
good news for compet deeds owners, bad news for ark moon investors. really far away from a perfect solution, in my humble opinion.
ppl who make bad invesment now get rewarded whit working deeds its good info only for those who was stupid and buy compets and speculative reselers
May I ask how this is bad for moon investors? Based on deed performance in the past I feel this likely brings my investment period to early fruition. It may be bad for people that have been waiting to invest, though. It's a calyspo/mindark issue. Them acquiring moon deeds to compensate Compet investors doesn't really affect that. Though it's likely to have some fallout regarding the investment period for the moon deeds of course.
i'm just not happy with the fact the the availability of arkadian moon deeds is reduced to compensate for mindark's worst mistake in their history. why don't they compensate with their own deeds? i think it's 100% MA's fault that compet sucked so much that nearly noone wanted to play it. yes, they should have done market analysis before they even started to develope, not after publishing that joke of a game. i'm pretty sure that we, their community, could have given a very accurate outlook about the possible success of compet, if they had shared their idea and game mechanics upfront. the way compet was developed and delivered, is nothing but a shame for someone that calls himself a game developer... don't forget it's also a slap in the face to everyone who was waiting for the promises regarding taming, stables, pet battles, and so on, for more years than i can actually remember... so yes, i'm bitter, and it's not quite easy to please me ... i'm sorry for the inconvenience!
I see this as more moon deeds in player hands and a faster move to them being MORE available in an open market. They have already been used as compensation for other problems and people are eagerly waiting to trade in them. On everything else you said I'm with you 100% really. I deleted some other comments no caveat required. Compets has been a mess. My condolences.
true. somehow i'm glad the compet deed owners got something of value at least, let's move on... PS: i think some people would really love to see some of those compets in EU later.
I have to agree, although what looks like throwing good money after the bad one is on the other hand also an investment on the part of MindArk into their relations with the community. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of situation. I'm just glad it is over and we have clarity now.
I think its great overall. Compet owners get something viable for the money they put into EU, (the last thing we all want is EU to have the rep of complete loss of investment) Mindark will now have more resources available to focus on the game again, Ark dev team gets to unload a large chunk of moon deeds, which means quicker for deeds to be fully sold and tradeable, And the Ark dev team gets an injection of cash to keep plugin away with more content. All of which sound good to me.
Interesting how the compet deed to AMD ratio means a compet deed is worth 24ped yet there are compet deeds on AH getting bid up to nearly 30 ped.
Hopefully Arkadia Studios isn't losing out on the deal. On the whole, though, it's good they're dropping Compet. It was big drain on EU. I'd like to see MA focus solely on EU, specifically MARKETING. If there's one thing the game needs, it's an influx of new players. That and to destroy all EP blueprints.
I was fine paying 62.50/deed of already on card PEDS for 2 extra AMD. And I'm cheap. There's lots of money in game, waiting to earn revenue, that can't be easily cycled through the webshop. .0001% trumps zero percent by a margin of nearly infinity. And I think AMD are already topping that without even a full release.
the 'deal' the npc will give is to trade in 5 cpmpet deeds. A lot of folks only are holding 1-4, so the auction price seems justified, somewhat... supply/demand and all of that.
