Hey everyone! Things settled a bit for me in real life, so I found that once again I have a bit of time for gaming, so I decided to return to Entropia Universe, and, since I now have a job (nothing impressing, but still), I think it came the time to stop being a "freeloader" (as many people accused me to be in the past) and start depositing and pulling my own weight. My available budget would be around $20 per month and I was wondering what depositing option do you suggest: - buying PEDs right away (I think $20 would give me 190 PEDs) - buying 2 * Small Universal Ammo Pack (where my $20 would give me 200 PEDs worth of Universal Ammo, 6 H-DNAs and 4 Auto Loot Pills) - buying a Starte Pack Refill (where my $20 would give me 180 PEDs worth of Universal Ammo, 5 H-DNAs and 5 Neurobiotic Booster) - buying 20 Strongboxes (or for this month Christmas Strongboxes) So... what do you guys think? Cheers, Alex
Hiy DoA, First of all: welcome back to Entropia! The best desposit option is, of course, your personal preferences. I always do a direct desposit by bank transfer, that has a minimum limit of I believe 100$ though. Yet that truelly gives you 10PED for every 1$. With Strongboxes you have to consider two things: 1) you will get a lot of avatar bound crap; 2) the (very small) change to get something good. And onces you've made your first desposit, you can never get back ... just wait for the day when you will think: "where did those 200$ go?"
Which way you deposit is personal preference. But one thing to look at is unless your an American check how much your bank charges to handle foreign currency transactions. I'm in England and I initially deposited from my bank $5 for the bronze starter pack. Imagine my shock when I looked at my next statement and found a £5 processing fee (that is the minimum transaction fee I found out) for doing it, at the time that would have got me about 70 peds. After a bit of various fee checking on the various methods of depositing. I found if I use paypal to convert £ to $ I pay a small fraction of the currency transaction fees. For an example I just bought 20 strong boxes and If I had used bank to pay it would have cost about £16 for them +£5 fee, paypal charged me about £16 + £0.30 fee. Call me mean but £4.70 difference in fee charges is to me a bit silly in this day and age, especially when my bank has branches and does business in the USA and lets face it, its all done instantly on computers and they don't have to pay any one to do it by hand.
I have been only buying boxes since boxes appeared. Not deposited cash for peds in a very long time. Got loads of pills on hand now, lol. It's your personal preference, as mentioned above
Yeah, I understand the personal preferences thing, but the problem is I don't have any such personal preference; I'm just trying to get the best deal for my money - lol. Considering I would anyway use said money for (small game) hunting, the offer that seems to make most sense for me would be the 2 * Small Universal Ammo Pack - not because the loot pills or the H-DNAs, but because is 200 PED worth of UA (and with PEDs I would probably just buy ammo anyway). But I was thinking that maybe I miss something, for example I really don't have any idea what typically drops from strongboxes.
Probably 60%-80% is uni ammo, the rest in various pills, some pets, fireworks, (or for current christmas boxes, snowball / garlands as well). On very rare lucky instances you get a ring. L and unl. Some of the stuff can be sold / tt'ed. The rest can only be used / consumed by you.
In my experience, if you hunt with weapons that consume universal ammo the best value for money is ammo boxes, and as slapper pointed out, the least overhead seems to be in using PayPal. Ammo boxes is the only way to always get 100% useful return on your investment. Loot boxes may give 100% value, but it is less likely to be all useful, although it obviously does have a minuscule chance to give more than 100% value.
For anyone connected to the SEPA sytem, bank transfer is the method with the lowest cost and therefore best conversion rate. If you can afford to make one larger deposit like every 6 months instead of monthly smaller ones, and have the self-control to stretch it that long, then this is the best deal with no side effects (unless you like the gamble with the Strongboxes or other package deals). Stash away what you don't need at once in AUD's and get a little extra through the payouts, sell them off one by one as you need liquidity.
Ammo boxes seems like the most cost effective way but then you have to use the ammo (which is not tradeable) to either hunt or mine which I guess will give you a return of lets say 90% in loot? Which then you have to dispose of to get your ped. With that in mind I just gamble on strongboxes and I have had 6 rings drop this year one which I sold for 1200 ped. The other 5 I have kept for use and the neurobiotic A pills sell for 300% so it's all relative in this game. Best thing to do is assume you are paying for entertainment and do the thing that gives you most grins.
Top start package on webshop... would be nice if there was a way to adjust it though... nice if you could do that for all armors really, lol
That's what I was afraid of... Already got the Hermetic Augmented, so am already sitting at +20%. Was going to buy the starter package for the extra bit... but if it's only 5% extra not sure it's worth it since stats would be worse than the cdf scout that I'm currently using for plate holders on low end mob... but might anyways just for the hell of it... sorry for the off topic issue here, but on the other hand it's not too far off since you have to compare what webshop has to offer in stats vs what you can get in game for cheap... (well, depending on your budget, and if you already got rings, pets, want to tame pets with whips from the webshop, etc. lol.)... maybe I should take my own advice and start buying a subscription to Geforce Now instead of depositing monthly in this upcoming year...
Welcome back, hope you will be giving up your estates. You have some people still waiting for you to finish the deal.
There was actually a discussion with her in game on this. She stated that she felt the prices that were offered were too low and since she did the auction on a Forum she was not bound to commit to the sale in the end. Noted and Thanks,
