A sort of an Easter egg, located at Valiant Firebase (north-east from TP): If you choose 'OK', they do fire. Not sure if there's more to it or coming, or it's just for fun.
Yeah... I don't think anything is coming. But, I like the fact that you can interact with these NPC; there are lots that don't do anything and I think they should improve on that. Maybe solving a riddle for a small reward? It would be fun IMO.
No, I don't think you can see it from where the artillery is, but I was scouting east of the firebase and saw explosions on the ground. If I remember right there were even Oratan dying.
Imagine the fun if you could set the gun using coordinates... and loot?? If balanced properly, with lots of ammo per shot and slow reload it could work. Of course you'll piss off any hunter in that area... but hey, it can be made into an instance with a span where you can't reach running, TPing or flying.
If it shot explosives, it could hurt hapless players stumbling into the impact zone. Maybe that would be
Just remembered this the other day when I finally gathered up all the Oratan Camp locations. There is one down the cliff just in the direction the cannon points. It would need two people to verify whether it actually hits there.
Sorry, had forgotten all about it. Checked it out with a friend a little while ago but then got buried. The cannon is just an effect, nothing gets hit. From down in the wavespawn camp there isn't even any visible effect, you can only see it firing from not too far away. Would have been too good to be true if you could blow them up this way
Not quite right. When you are in the correct spot, you can see a mix of Oratan spawn, get blown up (i.e. they die, not get actually blown to pieces ) and disappear. You need to be close to see them, but the explosions on the ground are visible from very far away, at least on my gfx settings which are a mix of Low to High depending on the setting. Of course, you can't hunt anything this way, but it is a nice effect.
Then we both missed it. Probably were fixated on the camp location, which is at different coordinates. Thanks!
San noticed your friend wrote "again", but if you return remember don't fire again unless you friend says Repeat. Ha ha ah, well that was the army/arty radio lingo a couple decades back. Anyways thanks to you, Haruto, and Sniqs we all have something to check out. Great easter egg.
