Thanks to intelligence from one of our own, zume, David Dobson of the A-Team has confirmed the latest VU will be on Tuesday, August 9th. Mr. Dobson through statements, has assured most of the speculated corrections we were hoping for. It's good to hear reassuring statements from the chief of staff. If these changes hold true to the speculation, hopefully we will see life being given back to our Planet.. I am looking forward most to the possibility of my manufacturing actually becoming economical and possibly profitable by a restructered market. I have been producing TT+1 weapons on Arkadia to assist in the skilling and development of new players, but up to this point it has all been to an overall cost for myself. A few instant effects we must, as Arkadians, be ready for on the 9th; The rumor of a stabalizing economy, new equipment and BPs will bring Calypsians to our Planet by the dozens, just as the initial colonization did. This hungry horde of uber crafters and traders will need supplies. Supplies, we loyal Arkadians through tireless effort, will be able to feed them. They will need our skins, ores, and enmatts that we have stockpiled due to rock bottom returns on our market. Suddenly what was TT food, will help to surge our PED accounts. So stock up on ammo, polish your rifles my friends, and begin your hunt. Get as much as you can from what Arkadia has to offer you, while it is still "worthless" to the rest of the galaxy. Also, this spark may ignite the ambition of new players, drawing them to the possibilities of new homes, a successful career, and most importantly a content community. These new and rising players will be our lifeblood, fueling our economic balance and growing our Planet's productivity. But they will need help. I call on other fellow crafters, forget your high priced BPs for a short term and join me in producing low level and mid level Weapons, Attachments, Enhancers, and other equipment. This is what they will need to continue to strengthen themselves and master their skills. Remember, without NEW blood, we die. This being said, pour your ale Arkadians, and prepare. cheers. -Cleric
I am sorry to spoil your happiness, but intell from EF tells me that the long awaited longtooth/eomon migration will finally come with this update too.. This intell is coming from Kim himself.. So i am not so confident in a lot of uber-ish players to come here.. MA has really done this well.. *not*.. (tho I myself have waited for the migration for a year)
I agree with Zume, with the many new content events etc being planned on Calypso at the same time, we shouldn't see as large of an influx as we did in the first month of Arkadia's life. There will be some increase in visitors though of course, and personally I think that will be fine, would actually rather have that than to have an invasion (since that way so much of our 'stuff' ends up going off planet in the end). I too have kind of broken my ped card in these two months, trying to craft the lower end needed items, and the competition from the higher end crafters means I've gotten next to nothing in the way of Arkadian bps from that effort, so for me, the fixed bps and potentially the new bps for clothes and textures is going to be a happy day PS: on second look, this thread is not really about an 'event' so moved to General Discussion.
Not to be all negative, but dave said that they expect it to go through. Keyword: expect. You are stating it as a fact, so players will get disappointed if the update will be a day later. So i really hope you are right. I wouldn't expect a huge influx of calypso players, MA will do the migration and probably some new mobs/missions/land as well. So if the content isn't something way better then calypso have to offer most people will stay down on calypso.
I would agree that the increase of foreign players will not match the original colonization, but it will be the first time since that time, that we DO see an increase. ( i said dozens, not hundreds ). Despite Calypso's parallel release of new content, I am optimistic the allure of some ped to be made from the import of new Arkadian wares will still have an effect on our population base. I think one thing we can both agree on; Wether the traders and crafters are foreign or domestic, the demand for our once valueless materials will increase through a stimulated market in the next few weeks. And this my friend, is of dire need.
I am optimistic in my statement yes, but I feel confident in this optimisim due to the fact that the developer made the statement so close to the date stated. I am well aware that in the nature of online gaming release dates are always tentative, even when in writting on official documentation. This, however, does not dispute the core principles of my statement. Motivation of the collection of Planet Arkadia materials for the eventual release of new blueprints and an increased demand cause by this for those materials. Knowing now that the speculation of these changes is most likely factual, wether it be in one week or one month, I still stand behind my guidance to Arkadian locals to begin preperations for this likelyhood, despite your pessimistic(although understandable) position towards the actual release date.
Yes I believe most players will carefully consider their options after the update. From what we know so far Arkadia has redesigned blueprints and Calypso has a migration of Longtooths&Eomons with UL vehicles in their loot. IMHO on the long run this patch will be very good for Arkadia but I think Calypso will win the players attention directly after the update. Which makes the OP invalid for a while but prolly not too long since migration loots normaly suck after a week or soo...
So is it official that the UL vehicles will be in those lootpools? I have heard Kim say about a month ago that we could "rip the UL vehicles from there guts" Would be neat. Been advancing my skills before the august 20 update, but maybe its time to ramp that up!
nothing anymore, Is now the august 9th update! At the time I was planning on the 20th. Leaves me 11 less days to gear up! glad started when I did though!
To be honest guys, unless someone official from Calypso announces a date for their content update, then none is announced really. They wouldn't announce it here, yet the news passed on from Dave that our update is hoped for on the 9th has now spread to other forums and assumptions are being made about both an MA VU and content updates for more than one planet just from that. I saw the NI community manager even had to answer that they aren't expecting an update for their planet then, all coming from that one post about what Dave said about Arkadia. Viral 'news' but maybe check the relevant places for any official info for the other planets etc
Lee i can say so much that Kim answered about the longtooth/migration to be coming next week or the week after, on the 31st of july.. David seemed confident its gonna be on tuesday, but who knows.. its MA we have to deal with..
If both come out at same time will give a head start to all true Arkadian's , they can stock there inventory of new items while others are preoccupied with event. So could end up being a win either way for Arkadian's .
I am a true Arkadian.. But i will (after my interview with Dobson) go to Calypso for the longtooth.. I have been impatiently waiting for those for a year.. So dont say any true arkadian will stay.. My heart bleeds for Arkadia, but it bleeds for longtooth also
well those new mobs on arkadia better watch out, because im not going to caly. i'll stay right here Shootin' & Lootin'
Same here. Longtooth still a bit out of my league.... Maybe I'll actually be awarded with a new Ark BP/Item as well? (Not holding breath on that one... :/ ) ...Either way I'll be staying put and if I can't get a new BP for the stuff I have hoarded, guess what? I'll just keep on hoarding it until I get some! Tippin'
I have some oro skins stacked that are patiently waiting... opcorn: btw, doesn't it feel weird to you guys that we talk about MA when speaking of Calypso? Kinda flashback .LeZ. (returning to my home renos)
