    Hello
this post is for the Arkadia team (but ofc is open to anyone).
I run this poor tool named auctiondata and in the bottom you can found the collected data generated from auction (no buyout). In some way it s a good indicator of the population present in each zone of the universe (more people are present in a zone more people in proportion will use the ingame auction system).

pls take 1 min to look at this picture:

it s clear that in the last 3 months the population on Arkadia is not grown at all. I have not a solution for this problem ofc, maybe a suggestion: organize free trips from anywhere to Arkadia. Or add some in real life items in your loot (computer stuff, etcetc) or......

MA can't make it happen because delays, delays, delays.

Your conclusions are not at all obvious to me. I'd agree that all other things being equal, successful auction volume should more or less proportional to population. However, more than 90% of my auctions sell via buyout, so if your numbers aren't including buyout, I don't see that looking at bids only will be an accurate measure of population. If you had an accurate way to measure the actual auction volume, that would be better, though still not an accurate measure of population, since there are many other factors to take into consideration, including how many items are native to the planet (guns, tools, etc.), the average player's level and amount of deposit, the proportion of sales that are direct trades, the average size (item count) of the auctions, and how many times on average the same item passes through the auction house (some UL Calypsian items have probably been placed in the auction house dozens of times by their successive owners--L items like we have on Ark, not so much).

Really, the only way to know for sure how the population of Arkadia has changed is if MA would tell us the number of players on Arkadia over the past months.

This is an interesting question... whether the A-team's goal is to attract players from other EU planets or brand new players from outside EU, but I suspect they'd rather attract brand new players (as would MA).

"However, more than 90% of my auctions sell via buyout"

like anyone else. So the 10% go to auction, like for anyone else. I m not talking about the absolute numbers, ofc, but in proportion Arkadia has less population than calypso. And this is fine. What i wondering is that i dind t see any increase of the arkadia population over time.

It was just this my point.

Indeed.. Their petty excuse that its all about the stats, is riddiculous.. They dont WANT us to have muscle oil.. I mean.. If they did, they would give the A-Team some form of guidance to how to tweak stats so the mobs loot muscle oil..

MA are just dragging their heels over muscle oil, it has been pointed out that a number of creatures of varying levels drop muscle on Calypso, yet not even the puny here do, just the Jori, and considering that the Arkadia team know this is an issue, and if they were given guidelines would tweak mobs, or even add new ones. (Thanks btw for the Ostelok, love the death sequence :) )

That being said, there is an update soon to both Ark and platform, so might be worth waiting to see what happens before lighting any more torches and reaching for your pitchforks yet.

I disagree. I think we'd find, if we could see the actual numbers, that a higher proportion of Arkadia auctions end as buyouts compared to Calypso auctions.

The reasons? Primarily, it's due to the fact that on Calypso, there are many more auctions, meaning it's usually easy find an auction ending soon. On Arkadia, it's a different story... there aren't as many auctions listed and frequently the only items available at a reasonable price have been listed in the last 24 hours. This means that (depending on the item) you MUST buy via buyout or you will never buy at all (because of the limited supply, someone else will always buy it first).

Another reason is that, because Arkadia has less competition in the AH (and fewer bidders), people set their starting bid amounts higher than they would on Calypso. This tends to make the buyout option more attractive.

Regardless of the correlation between non BO auction sales and population, the figures appear to show that Arkadia has a successful customer retention policy and that the economy is stable. Clearly a healthier economy than the 2 other newish planets. Obviously it would be better if more new players were enticed into playing here but so far things are looking good.

yup KiKKI..... i agree Arkadia has a better retention than the other new planets, and this is great if consider that Rocktropia is around since a while. What i m not able to explain to Neil (and this is my fault) is that just looking to the Arkadia successful/unsuccessful auction i don t see a positive trend. If the population in Arkadia grow proportionally those 2 values should grow too. This is not the case.
My point is that maybe is time that the Arkadia team make some move to bring some more players from other planets to Arkadia. I suggested a couple of way to do it. Not sure them are the correct ones, OFC. I m just trying to give my input.

I can speak only of mining goods sold on Auc. At the moment, with events going on, it looks like I cant mine fast enough to keep even one page full on "My orders" at Auc, for as soon as I list my resources with tt+1ped SB and BO at weekly MU or so, after my mining run done, they get bought withing the next hours or usually at least before I log on ingame the next time (try to mine at least few hours per day).

Maybe I should start using amps and cycling peds faster to feed the Auc? Not sure about that, un-amped seems to be okay, but what I'm trying to say is that even with this current player-base on Arkadia, peds and goods seem to cycle through Auc. pretty fast.

@ Neil - sorry for not noticing You ingame yesterday. Left my ava next to auc and went afk for awhile. When I came back, saw Your lines on chat, but no green dot inside CP or out. You wanted to know how's the mining been on Arkadia? Well, with the current MU's, no complaints :)

I don't really get the original post, but with this i can give some advice. Using amps is a good idea when the average markup of the stuff you find is higher then the markup you pay for the amplifier. Unfortunately mining amps are a bit expensive atm due to high residue costs though.

I agree with your main point tho, it would be good if we had a few more people visiting from other planets... at least the nice players :D

But I would guess that MA probably has rules in place that prevent planet partners from actively recruiting other planets' players in ways other than offering events and things like that. The other thing, and this has been discussed before, is the fear that offering "free flights" to arkadia will merely result in us getting a whole bunch of non-depositing perpetual sweaters from Calypso. In other words, people who don't contribute to the economy in a significant way.

@ NRF -- yeah, I agree about mining being great atm. Hopefully demand for ores won't crash now that the crafting event is over. :)

well i think the point is not just about the trip price but the safety. Many players feel the space trips like unsafe and this prevent them to fly around. If in the other hand some caravans are organized (like in the far west time) this should be garantee an higher safety level and maybe stimulate some more trip around.

Hey just some few inputs..... for sure i have the magic ball to found the correct way to achieve this result

Space trips aren't unsafe if you don't take stackables. Just tell people not to take lootables and there's no problem. If they find a pirate, they make the pirate waste peds on ammo... But you're right, many people have an innate fear of lootable PVP zones.

Muscle oil is not the only missing item. Quite a few of the enhancer components (high speed control for example) and a couple of random ones (basic leather extractors for example) seem to be missing too. In my paranoid moments I imagine that MA want to force us to trade between planets, and therefore get all that lovely decay from space PvP.

If I knew someone who would by the high speed control components I get from hunting, I'd save them instead of TTing them. But storage space is limited and it's hard to find buyers for components... and I don't think there are any traders who collect them either. So... I don't know that it's a problem of missing components, it's a problem in the supply chain from hunters to crafters.

Hard to find sellers too. :) Although i don't use those components. At the times i need components the auction is usually pretty empty except for output amplifier components (which ofc is useless when there is no pyrite on auction :)).

In my opinion it is always better to sell stuff to a rare trader for 100,01% then to tt it.
