I have no clue what time it is over there in Singapoore but in MA time standarts today is the day! "I expect us to make an announcement by the end of Feb with regards to the concrete launch date." http://www.entropia-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=100&t=5338&start=15#p53159 (german forum but post is in english) Now obviously the wording offers quite some opportunity to bail out of the promise but please don't become like all the rest and do that. Btw was this announcement published anywhere else than as a reply to my request on the german forum? If it wasn't then this thread is probably a shitty move in case the launch date isn't announced by tomorrow. That's also why I haven't created a proper thread about it so far. Well here it is besides I think that my two months of (im)patient waiting deserve some kind of official response. PS: if you aren't ready to give a a launch date that response may very well just be some reason why you can't tell it yet. Personaly I think the ETA contest you made was REALLY daring because if you do not launch on launch day but on some other day instead someone is going to be mad that the "wrong" guy won. EDIT: Launch is on 24th of may! just because some ppl still seem to check this for launch day.
Hi guys, As stated, I was expecting to be able to share a concrete launch date with you by end of Feb. Unfortunately, I can't give you a firm date at this stage. There are a few things we need to test before I can confirm anything. It's most likely I will only be able to give a clue as to a window for launch, the confirmation of a launch date won't happen until the day we launch. We don't want to give a date until we're very sure. I made a mistake on giving the end Feb deadline on my personal capacity to what I believe was possible at that time and I apologise for hyping 28th Feb up. This doesn't mean that our internal target launch date has changed. I can assure you that nothing's changed on what Dave had said, and we'll be launching within the first half of 2011. As soon as I'm able to, you can be sure I'll post it on the forum and the newsletter.
Lesson: *Don't make promises!* Your top ten rules all should start with that line above. As you know, all what ppl get at "another place" are promises. So please don't go the same way. Many, many ppl are looking at Arkadia as their last hope..... Take all the time you need, but ---> see line above*
Err... Okay... Then I'll play the devil's advocate: Year 2011 in what calender? Gregorian calendar? - That is the calendar most of the world is using Julian calendar? - the last day of the first half would be wednesday, 13 july 2011 Islamic calendar? - friday, 5 march 2573 Persian calendar? - friday, 21 september 2632 Coptic calendar? - monday, 11 march 2295 Hindu Solar calendar? - monday 17 october 2089 Hebrew calendar? - no, that was monday, 16 september 1750 B.C. Egyptian calendar? - nah, that was monday, 16 april 1263 Hindu Lunar calendar? - nope, that was sunday, 26 september 1954 There are other calendars too, but without a year 2011... Sorry, but after all the infos we actually got from MindArk, FPC, SDS, NDS and other... please forgive my misstrust...
@ Fox Persian calendar? - friday, 21 september 2632 <= In which calender ? Please be more precise next time Fox What calender are you using as reference?
hmm I guess we are kind of used to such behaviour by now but it's sad nevertheless. Well as I wrote above it would have been quite daring to give a launch date now. Originaly I wanted to ask for an ETA anyway but noticed that you wrote concrete launch date in your post that's why I copied it. Well when there is some more specific information available than "first half of 2011" someone please post it in here too. I don't think I'll come along that regulary now that it could be any day or never so to speak.
The normally used gregorian calendar, Hot. The last day of the first half of year 2011 in the persian calender would be September 21st 2632 in the gregorian calendar. Year 2632 anno Domini. *sigh*
Can I get in earlier? My crappy dsl with have to download two weeks for 1gig+ new planet content :/ ^^
Thanks Cyrus for quick answer. Not many Officials have guts to admit their mistake, not even mentioning about actually using that word. And on top apologize for that. You just grow a bit in my eyes, and i suppose few others also. Way To Go! Having said that, I hope for your own sake that you "we'll be launching within the first half of 2011". If not you will see what angry mob can do on forums Ii don't agree with that line. Promises are good - as long as they are fulfilled. Should rather be: *Don't make promises that you can't fulfill!* Also as opposite to "another place", communication skills of Planet Arkadia Management are existing and are very pleasing so far!
Partialy right. But the nature of promises is, that there *always* can be circumstances that make it impossibel to fullfill them. So better: Don't make promises.. I agree with you that communication with officials here at this forum is the best I can see so far inside EU.
Pretty much my feelings. I prefer to hear "hope to" instead of "promise" when it's not concrete and 100%. Having said that... Thank you for the update. That means a lot to me, as does admitting mistakes. Credit given! Having said THAT.... I am soooo looking forward to planting my digital feet on Arkadia!
No problem there Cyrus. At least you came back here and told us you made a mistake and that you are sorry about it, much more then other, not to be mentioned, planets do most of the time.
I must say I do really like the community managers replies for this planet ^.^ very good stuff I always see here
From the beginning, Dave and the A-Team have been extremely interactive with us, and I mean extremely interactive with us, and involving us in the development process like no other PP has. Cyrus is an exceptional Community Relations Manager, and I mean exceptional, keeping us connected with what's going on, but with any business venture (RL or virtual), everything doesn't go smoothly. However, when we have years of broken promises and short-sided VU's, as well as unfinished planets, then we have something to bark about ... not this. Dave and the A-Team have worked very hard toward being able to present to us the most complete and functional planet possible, and I think we can give them a little break with an unmet promise regarding an official launch date. Dave said it will be the first half of 2011, and I have absolutely no doubt that we will be inhabiting Arkadia in the time-frame he projected. With their professional track record so far, I don't think we have anything to complain about, and I say let's be more supportive of what they've given us that we haven't gotten elsewhere: Developer (CEO) interaction very frequently Community Relations Manager keeping us updated practically 24/7 Involving the community in development; requesting input and feedback An A-Team forum staff always on top of things A PP and staff who listen to us Consistent and ongoing storyline I think we're spoiled now, but we need to not take it for granted. I have no issue whatsoever with the unmet promise to reveal an official launch date, especially since they're still within the window that Dave gave for launch anyway. Chill Baby, Chill.
Agreed. I can totally understand why they wouldn't want to post the release date too early. Then people will be ticked off if the planet doesn't arrive in the announced time frame. I say just let Arkadia Studios take their time. There's no point rushing something that has great potential.
