That appears to be an opalo pistol. All stats match. I wonder how the decay and TT value compares between the two.

    edit to add:
    A bit more info here.
    http://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?222844-The-NIB-Opalo-killer!
Says u cant attach an amp - which is a bit sucky
Can only use to 50% condition, compared to 3% for opalo. But given low TT value, thats not a big deal.
Can't trade or TT it (seems to be a lot of this going on now). Make sure you really want it before you get one cos its one more item filling up your storage.
Someone write 100 shots to decay 3 pec. If I've done the maths right thats 50% more decay than the opalo but that only amounts to about 0.5% difference in dpp.

The only thing I dont like about this weapon is that you cant amp it. Cos thats when the opalo becomes eco.

    and more editing...
Compare this to Cap-101. It's more eco than either and it can be amped. But doesnt have the same range.

Hm...I don't think I can help you with that but, I wasn't aware of it's existence until now. It looks promising for the occasional little hunt and for noobies, possibly recommendable?

Depends on decay in the end though, some people prefer a (L) if the decay is to drastic. If the decay is bad, then you'll probably end up spending more for repairs and you'll be dealing less damage, so it's kind of a wild card as to if the NIP is really better than the Opalo.

I wonder if someone has done a proper decay test on it yet with the TT sweat trick.

Ill join in on the flight if HP ever does their work properly so I can actualy start doing my work. Been sitting here for over 6 hours waiting for HP to do something that would take me 30min to do if I had access.

lol yea, it has more 0.01 pec decay / shot than opalo. but it doesn't matter.
    its dmg/pec is:
    200 ammo = 2 pec
its decay per click = 0.03
    average damage = 5.5
    so its 1 / 2.03 * 5.5 = 2.709 damage/pec n opalo is 1 / 2.02 * 5.5 = 2.722
only 0.013 dmg difference / pec

its a noob pistol, so ill use it to kill some puny such carabok (10 HP) which amp would make me have some overkill so it doesn't matter if its unampable.

im sure wanna get this 55m range pistol of course, would u gimme a free ride to there?
i got no money atm :(. sweat being really hard to sell

Yep, it's not particularly eco. Remember, as others have said, the Cap-101 beats the NIP and the opalo for efficiency. But it is kinda cool to have a pistol that goes 55m. The long range is the only good thing about it. You can't attach any attachments, and that keeps the eco down. The only reason you'd use one is

    1) you want to skill on pistol instead of rifle
    2) are hunting carabok or other punies
    3) don't want to run as much as you would with a normal range pistol

I've got a NIP, just haven't got around to doing the damage/decay tests yet. I'll try to get to that soon and report back here.

Decay tests and dmg/pec tests done.

    NIP decay (pec/shot) = 0.0200 (+/- < .0001)
    NIP dmg/pec = 2.80 (95% CI is +/- 0.06)

Note that a new player will not get 2.8 dmg/pec, but all the guns should be equally less efficient. That's what I get at lvl 21-ish.

Basically, I've changed my mind... I think it's a great pistol to use on carabok or other small mobs. It's not quite as eco as a cap-101 with hotfoot or A101, but is very close (~.05 dmg/pec less). I would always recommend still using an M2100 for the last shot. Even though the M2100 is not as eco, the major loss on carabok is overkill.

I think everyone should go get the NIP while it's available (I'm not sure if it's a permanent thing or not). If a bunch of you want to organize a low-cost excursion over there (~5 ped each person for a two-way flight), I might be talked into providing transportation. It might also be worth spending a day or so there to explore Ancient Greece and get an herb box.

Hey, Neil.. What's the ammo usage difference between the M2100 vs the NIP? Like how many shots with the NIP vs how many shots with the M2100? Is the NIP really more eco than the M2100?

We kinda off topic from OPs original post but it is interesting.

If Nip decay is 0.02 pec per click then it has same eco as the opalo and the opalo beats m2100.
I still think the inability to amp takes the weapon down from really good to merely nice. I understand the range is good but is range a big deal against carabok? They are great for skilling evade...

The NIP has all the same numbers as the Opalo, except that it is a pistol and it can't be amped. That means 200 ammo use. The M2100 is exactly half an Opalo, with 2-4 dmg and 100 ammo use. You'd think it'd be the same dmg/pec but in real world tests it always seems to come out slightly less. Maybe I just need to fire more shots. For these tests I fired about 1200 shots with the NIP and 700 with the CAP-101. A couple thousand shots each of the opalo and M2100 ought to determine if there really is a difference in dmg/pec.

In any case, the NIP, even without amp, is a good gun, especially good with it's nice range.

It's also bound to character, and is a new player quest reward at NI Crystal Centre.

I'm not sure they're giving these guns out anymore, as they stopped the "freebie" missions on NI.
