I'm a new player to the whole universe and I am just starting on Ark, I am planning on trying the level 1 but I am not sure that is going to be possible for me to compete if this is going to be like the Arkas instances are already with their really poor eco payouts for their high number of mobs, or are the mobs going to be lootable individually instead of the chest at the end?

I mean to kill 2000, it can't be that easy, so is it like Sal'Diresh, where the mobs are only spawned in the 20's?

I would expect the devs to make it so that all levels of players could participate, but they haven't made it clear enough what this is going to be like. And I would like to be a little bit better prepared if I can be for it.

This was changed recently so you will find instance returns to now be just like regular returns.

As for the actual specifics, we'll just have to wait and see what the instances are like on the 30th. I would expect a brand-new level zero player to have difficulty with the lowest level instance. But the good news is that newbies can skill so fast that with a few days of grinding, you're no longer brand new :)

Welcome on board! Not sure what info you are missing? They gave the exact mob stats above. Only thing not said is what the damage types are, but everybody's educated guess is they aren't different from the Magurg we already know. You can manage the first category if you're just beyond punies. Maybe small Zadul are the closest equivalent, try if you can handle those.

I have been taking on Zaduls in team hunts pretty well, so I think I can make that work. Thanks for that. That wasn't exactly my question.

The part that I was asking about was the format of how the instance is going to work based on past experience, if it can be applied. There are several different types of mob environments on the planet that I have see so far, like Arkas, Sal'Diresh, hunting grounds, and the timed spawn points.

My question was to how the spawning will take place and the loot will come, because if it is like the Arkas instance I doubt I will be able to afford to participate. The returns are just not there, too many MOBs and not enough loot. While Sal'Diresh style might make the 2000 kills very difficult, but would probably be more eco for a new player like me.

I have only been playing for about a week, so hopefully this makes some more sense... lol

As I understand it, these instances will be similar to the Smugglers' instances with Oratan Prospectors, i.e. there will be one kind of mob, no chests, loot every mob as you kill it and decent numbers of mobs.

Is the time counted only inside the instance or logged in time? First time doing this event and I would like to be able to mine also

Seeing how Hunting Division comes with instances (that always have a timer) it would be idiotic to clock logged-in time and not instance time.

It's time inside the instance that will be counted, not your total online time.

Did not noticed anybody asking those questions or I simply missed info, so there I go:

    1. Will there be counter for mobs killed or no counter and simple mission update?

    2. Is the cool down counting from starting or from finishing previous mission?

I imagine it is from ending.
If that's right, would you consider changing it to 0 hours or few minutes??
I think quite a few people will wait for new mission before entering new instance, I know few who already say so.
This is bad both for players ('forced' to wait) and for Arkadia (less revenue), so changing it would be win-win situation.

    3. If you would decide to change cool down, can you make mission automagically be taken upon finishing previous one?

Something like that is implemented on some of Calypso's Iron Missions - upon finishing previous stage next stage is added without need to go to terminal.

    4. Are you counting actual time spent in each instance as total time OR number of instances entered multiplied by 1 hour?

I imagine actual time but want to make sure if exiting/crashing would be counted properly.

    5. Will there be any boss at the end or just bunch of same mobs?

Just on the mission cooldown, theres a platform issue around the minimum cooldown between "daily" missions. The same thing has cropped up for the UG map conversion missions. Would be awesome if MA could/would reduce the minimum to some number of minutes.

Unless the instances are Solo missions with no other avas around:

...not so sure about "finaly fair" - it is as fair as it gets with the current system.
The score is based on "loot / h" aka points/h. This means high dps is good - it ain´t a good idea to need 3 min. for a mob if others get it down in 1...
This said, you can hire "Pre-Damagers" - others who get down the HP or even make a Team and "looter takes all". So 3 people can collect as 1 Avatar and grind the shit out of the instance in 65h.

The winner in the highest class will be the one with the best team. Beside that, it will still cost you around 8-10k to finish the highest stage.. not sure if the 1st Prize would be even worth that money...

It will be worth even more in the aftermarket. Look at comparable items and what insane amounts of money some are willing to spend on them. I buy a car for that in RL, cough.

Please be advised that the rules were changed slightly short after the event was announced, to now be run with normalized score with a minimum of 65 hours participation. (no maximum)

Total score will be calculated based on hourly point averages to derive each participant's 65 hour normalized points.

Example of how it is calculated
    Player 1
    Total points: 6500
    Hours: 65
    Average points per hour: 100
    65 hour normalized score: 6500

    Avatar 2
    Total points: 7200
    Hours: 77
    Average points per hour: 93.51
    65 hour normalized score: 6077.92

You will have to complete a minimum of 65 hours in the Gold Rush Instances to qualify for winning a prize.
