    Hyellow,

First of all, I want to start by apologizing if anything I will say in this post is wrong or dumb... is only based on my personal experience in game, which, as you already know, is slim to none. :)

Well, thing is that I have these six newbie weapons and tools, which I kinda plan to stick for a long while (by my own choice to stay in the "minor league" and refuse to "grow up and play with the big boys and the big toys"), and under these conditions I figured up that I may at least try to tier them up, and for that I would, obviously, wish for as better tier rates as possible. :)

Now from what I heard, very few people actually bother to tier their similar items up (because they kinda move up very fast), so I figured there may be nice people out there who don't care about the tier rates and might be willing to exchange their similar tools (but with better rates) with mine. And that's what I'm looking for. :)

TBH, I kinda hope that I can get the "upgrade" pretty much free (since it won't really make a difference for someone not interested in tiering them up), but, eventually, I'm willing to pay a small difference (just not much, since sweating is not exactly making one's rich :p).

Later edit: To make it clear - by upgrade I mean trade same item for same item (as in HK110 for HK110), but with just better tier rates. :)

So here's my items; if you have a similar item, but with (somehow) better tier rates and you're willing to trade, please let me know. :)

Tier 5 Heart is as eco as tier 0 to use with enhancers. Although, enhancers cost ped, which still increases the eco of the item.

Personal opinion, don't tier the items, it's not worth it. I only tier items because I find it a fun challenge.

The Rookie Terramaster has absolutely crazy tiering demands. Tier 1 cost over 130 PED in materials. Guess what, I was so crazy to actually do it when mine was ready. Now I have it at 1.9 and look what it is asking: :jawdrop:
    rookie-terramaster-tier2.jpg
I don't even dare to tally that up... and even less imagine the next step(s)...

Hmmm, I wonder, will I be the first colonist to reach Tier 10 on rookie terramaster?

No wish to highjack this trading thread. I really starting to wonder what the highest tiers people have unlocked for each of these starter items. Could there be some mysterious hidden "something" if you get to Tier 10? I doubt it, but I do wonder :)

I am guessing it is there to nerf tier grinding. As finders are super easy to tier up, one could get a huge chunk of these to T0.9 in no time for a low cost. Perhaps tiring skills would come too easy or something...

Tiering cost is based on eco. Rookie Terramaster has one of the lowest cost to use in the game so the teiring formula automagically makes it expensive to upgrade.

Tiering rates are calculated automatically. To understand why the rookie finder has such expensive tiering rates you just need to look at the efficiency. In essence, an item that is not overly efficient will be much cheaper to tier.

P.S. That 3+ years old post, so it's not worth to reply there or it will be locked for "necro".

So.. is it worth it for the OP to tier up any of the things that she lists? Do any of them have a reasonable tiering cost?

I dont think the herb box is too bad. Ive tiered mine at least one level and I dont remember it being too bad.

The question is what can be gained that would justify the cost. On tiered up weapons I mostly use accuracy enhancers and that works quite well for me. Tier 3 and higher makes quite a difference already, you get double damage a lot more often. I planned to do that with my Opalo and got it up to 2, just switched to blp then and haven't used it that much since. But I got me one with good tier rates for the purpose, exchanged it at tt about 50 times until I was happy with it.

On the finder I have a depth enhancer and thought at the beginning, it would be cool to have it go all the way to double depth matching a regular finder, but using only 1/10th the probes. I also chose the one with the best tier rates from the selection in the shop on Caly where I bought it long ago (hadn't been to Arkadia or even in space then, so was limited to what others brought across the void).

But that was then and I hadn't a clue about a lot of things. I still haven't quite managed to figure out what such a finder could achieve, if anything. You may find different ores, but the claim sizes still match what you invest in terms of probes used. Or so I believe. Would be happy to learn if there is something about it I missed. It could motivate me to finally go mining more and more regularly.

In my opinion the only newbie items that is worth tiering are the herb box and Hoplite armors. Why you may ask? well it's simple for those of us that frequent Next Island (yeah yeah .. it's a dead planet) That is the ONLY healing tool and armor set that can be used in Ancient Greece. Now take into account that you need a small army of healers behind you to kill the stereopes cyclopes there but 3 tier 2 herb boxes certainly help massively over non tiered ones down there.

Wait. So you found something once with the rookie finder, and that is enough evidence for you....?

Fact #1; Claim size directly correlates with TT input.

Fact #2; You'll find rarer ores at higher depths. These tend to have higher mu.

These both are proven, and nothing you can disagree with. No matter how much I would disagree with the sun existing, it would still be hanging up there in the sky.

No I didn't mean that. What I meant, I already found bigger claims with rookie than with F102 that are the ones I currently posses, the post of the sword was just a big jackpot, meaning I gambled little and earned big, also recently I've found fossil tooth on 49ped value also with rookie. And other day on Gateway 10ped lyst. Never talked about rare ores on bigger dephts, the thing is for starter player yet to decide be or not be a miner or like me that needs only few scraps of ores for minor crafing, Rookie Terramaster will do fine.

Correct me if I am mistaken but rookie finders are now removed from TT and so only available from other players ?

Right so lets go a bit more back on topic - why would you want to tier up two different tools doing more or less the same job

    S.I. H.E.A.R.T. & Herb Box

Personally I would tier herb box as unless NI updates gets improvment then people still visit and actually do the missions there so its an investment that might pay off - rebalancing might change this but its crazy to tier up 2 of the same tools.

    Rookie Rock Ripper

I dont mine that often but still use TT extractors and rather than repair just buy a new tt extractor so again probably not worth sticking enhancers on as the claim wont expire and even unenhanced you can get your claim out in plenty of time.

    Blades

If yu want to use the same tools and stuff thats up to you but your going to miss out on sib bonus and things that assists you skilling yes at higher levels sib / non sib can cost a bit but then you get additional or potential additional skills in the process. again its a balancing act and often a time / cost addition.

The only real reason to tier other stuff up is to hof chase - fun but expensive ;)
