Hello Arkadians! For the past few days I have been thinking about making a society that is for über players (200k+ skillpoints) for Arkadia based/housed players. In order to actually make a society you need 5 people including yourself. (correct me if I'm wrong.) What I wanted to know really, is it viable to make a society like that on Arkadia? My question is; If you have (now or later) 200k+ skillpoints, would you join an 'über' Arkadia based society, and possibly tell me why? In order to make this society I'd need at least 4 other people, so if you are at that 'über' stage would you consider joining? Note, I'm just gathering information right now, but if there are enough willing people right now or in the next 1-2 weeks, I will make the soc. Thank you
Well lots of people are 200k+ so I think you would need to raise the bar for it to be deemed an uber soc. You may well sneak into the Top 50 with 5 * 200k but I'm not sure if this is your aim. I can think of a few freelancers with those skills but who knows if it is a viable proposition. I've been in Top 50 socs as I wanted to team hunt "big" stuff but found that the nicest, friendliest socs were not "uber" socs at all but people on my FL that hunted with me. For that reason alone I wouldn't be that interested but ofc it would depend on who wanted to join. Having said all that, this would be a nice PR gimmick for Arkadia to have a dedicated top soc - all you need is a cool name [and all I can think of is "Ark Angels" which doesn't sound mean and moody enough ] GL with it.
For me it is not to make a society with grumpy old people who only knowledge is how to farm. Knowing the Arkadia community I believe it would be a friendly society, and with a bit of fun too. It is not my aim to make a top 50 soc, it's more something for players to come to when they want to be in a team of fairly skilled members around the same level. Also, I believe some people would like to be in a skill-requirement society that is arkadia based instead of calypso based. And "Ark Angels" Didn't think of that! Love it (actually, didn't really think of a name better than "The Ark Militia" - lore/storyline related)
Well that sounds much better because for me this game has always been about having fun and meeting great people. Ofc I have to say that as Lootius ate my ped card
Lootius is a bastard (I'm hunting low mobs, returns are good with the current mu's) But yeah, I know Arkadia got a good, positive group of players. No doubt there will be some gems to make a fun society with that.
I don't know if I have 200k in skills (need that damn skill calc...), but if the Soc was named Ark Angels, could I get a seat on the board? :biggrin2:
If it were me I wouldn't taught it as an "Uber" soc. The term "Uber" in regards to EU tends to invoke visions of evil corrupted rich people with early ties to the devs and knowledge how to manipulate the system to stay on top. A more fitting term to use may be "Well seasoned" ( by which I mean well abused financially to reach high skill levels). I would tend to side with Fredzepp that the soc's status means nothing and its the bonds of the people you play with that make the soc. That's one of the reasons I have stayed with Jurai Blood as it has long term game history tied to MANY of the "Ubers" within EU and the remaining people are true friends I consider part of my digital family.
You need 5 people in the first week; after that you can remain and just by yourself and the society will not get disbanded. So, technically speaking, you don't really need 5 uber player right away, just 4 freelancer friends to help by staying in society for a week. Now going over technically aspect, personally I would look rather bad towards such a society, since I associate "uber guilds" with "elitist jer*s guilds", which kinda wanna show off with their "status" as in "we rock, you su*k". I don't like elitist socities neither in real live, neither in games; and I really think that what guilds should be about is players/people (the real us), not characters/avatars (the numbers in the database).
There are some negative comments here and I would like to clarify some things. The "uber" thing; Blame Sally, I don't feel like an uber anywhere close, but because I was reaching 200k skillpoins she started calling me that. And I believed it to be a word to fit well with what I was thinking about doing. I agree, well seasoned does fir the bill as well. Elitist jerks; Yes, there are elitist jerks out there, I don't feel like I am one of them. I also believe Arkadia has a lot of positive players - there is a different atmosphere here than on Calypso. And those positive people would be a bigger addition to the society than people who think they are entitled something. In the end, I was really just checking what the options were, if it were possible to start a society like this on Arkadia. (with like this I mean high skilled people who have Arkadia as their home) I can fully understand that using the word 'uber' might've not been the beset thing, but hey, we can't all be perfect right? Ark Angels will not be something I'd pick anymore, there is already a society with the name Arkadian Angels, and it's too similar and might be confusing. So back to the drawing board for me.
Yeh Blame Me - Its All My Fault but I personally think that 200k skill points is something to be celebrated. and yes the lingo might have changed a bit but will get used to Uber not been uber and More Season Player as Noobs are Now New Arrivals and globals arnt just 50 ped + . I am still going to use some of the lingo that I am used to between friends ;D I would love to see those of us that reside on Arkadia have a Society that is Arkadia Based and In the top 50 Yes this might still be a bit of a dream and more skills neaded for me but would be cool to have and another milestone for Planet Arkadia. P.S I am banned from saying the following words to Lizzy ;P Uber & Arkadia Advisor Join Us ! ! ! !
I've around the low 190k's in skills and like Sally said, getting to 200k is something of an event for me (as getting to 200hp will be, if I ever do) and being part of a society whose members have been around a sufficient length of time to get to a similar skill level to me, or more, is appealing since I would hope that all our sharp corners will have been blunted enough such that any prima-donna big-headedness and other 'anti' behaviour would be minimised. Likewise the frenzied "you must skill up to improve this Society's standing" demands on players to be constantly skilling up to the point of losing the point as to why they're actually playing this game. And why should Arkadia not have it's own top ranked society/societies? I'm just a freelancer (in real life too as it happens) who has been Soc-free for a good few years now but could appreciate the company of some like-minded, like-skilled players. But, please, no heavy handed Soc rules or performance/attendance criteria. One abiding memory I have from my early days in PE was when I was in my first society (called Unlimited) and there were around a dozen or so of us, all at Port Atlantis (but in different parts of the real world) stood in a circle, 'talking' to each other. That was fun and back then, quite a thing to happen. As for a Soc name, you can go from "Sumus Arkadia" (We are Arkadia - a bit like We Are Sparta but in Latin) to the ridiculous "Arkadian Bad-Ass Uber Jerks" (just for LoveFall this one ) although that could be quite a good tongue-in-cheek name. However, if you want to start an Arkadia-centric, soc aimed at more 'senior' avatars, I'll be happy to join and see how it goes.
My idea was not against like minded people gathering together, as in I totally understand why a seasoned veteran wouldn't want a noob like me wandering around and asking some dumb questions he saw millions time before, just to quit after a couple of days, weeks or months, after she stressed everyone with her questions. What I said I dislike was: 1) a hard admission rule based on a number in the database ... as in why exactly over "200.000" and not just "highly experienced player" which leaves more room for flexibility and leaves the decission in people's hand 2) the self stamping as "uber", which while maybe not "EJ", is still definitely elitistic Is like you have 1,000,000 skill points, 1,000,000 ped in the bank or anything else like that - really great for your, just don't see the need to "show off" with it (but then, this is happening a lot IRL too, and I don't understand it there either ). Sounds to me somehow like MENSA or like Ferrari Owners Club. But, of course, every society is free to set their own rules, and I will just stop commenting/bitchering. I only did it anyway because feedback was asked.
...you could say that Because it sets a finite starting point, much like the cost to go see a film, or the price of meal in a restaurant No one is self-stamping as uber, there's no way I would describe my avatar as uber, either in gear (by choice) or experience (except mayber uber in NRF). However, if you believe that setting an entry level is 'elitist' then you are going to find the the majority of the world is 'elitist'. And many would see MENSA or FoC as 'due reward'
you don't need the damn skill calc anymore MA now have the total skillpoints listed in the skills section.
Well... I love my current society but there are issues with mixed skill levels. I rarely get to team up for fun mobs with my soc mates. I've asked a few times about going for dasps or huge hogglos but with no success. To be honest, I probably would have more fun in such a society, even though I would never want to separate from the friends I've made in my current society. 200k is more like mid level though
I asked two posts before that I wanted this thread closed. I made a new soc recruitment thread for Rampant Rabbits and we have lowered the minimum skill requirement to 150...
